Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?

Skilled CV player will just perform manual attack with two squadrons. When you turn to evade first attack, second one will launch from side. Good luck with dodging that. At best you'll be hit only by some torpedoes, and manage to lose e.g. "only" half of health. Countering such situation is possible only with allied AA support. Another problem: evading torps in BBs very often means, that your guns are taken off action for some time (because you can't point them at enemy). There is no such problem on most CAs (because their guns turn quickly), or DDs (where guns are not a primary armament). Of course your advices are still helpful... but they are showing a problem again: BBs have to be very preservative. There is a lot of "dont's" while playing them. They can't be too agressive, but on the other hand they can't be defensive, because there is no real defence factor in WoWs. In the effect, they are pretty useless.

You can (citadels), but it's very luck-based. Even if you aim at weakpoints in preferable range (e.g. ~7 km), shots still can hit nowhere near. Result - occasional awesomeness, but more often frustration. That really need a buff. E.g. 356 mm shells should have at least 1K (with parallel RoF buff), may be even 1,5-2K (without), minimal damage against soft-armoured targets (i.e. not BBs).

Unfortunately range is only a secondary advantage - even if you predict and aim well, shots can miss because of spread RNG (e.g. half fall short, half fall too far), or be dodged (even in a BB). Not even talking about chance for citadels, which is pure RNG at such range. That's part of problem - if you want to hit with any consistence, you have to get closer (probably somewhere ~10 km). If you get closer, you are in range of CAs guns, and it's more difficult to miss ship-carried torpedoes as well. More - closer you get, harder it's to break contact.

All that while there's no significant RNG in torpedoes (all depend on skill of attacker / dodging skill of target), and CAs can minimize their RNG thanks to high RoF.

They are vulnerable to being overwhelmed. If you happen to meet enemies in numerous advantage, it's possible to "break contact" in CA, even more easy in a DD, but not so in a BB - even as mobile, as Kongo. As I said before - BBs need lots of team support. Not only other ships coming the same way, but also AA CAs or fighters for anti-CV protection. I already had few cases, when I was screwed at beginning by enemy carrier (of course a skilled one, making manual attack from two sides), because nobody though about covering me (which I do in my CAs, e.g. Yubari is fun here). I suppose BBs could be very fun to play in battles of organised teams (like WoT Team Battles or Stronghold Skirmishes), where everybody knows his job. But in randoms, especially solo (un-platooned), it can be frustrating. TL;DR - BBs need more self-reliablity.

Of course not. Few ideas - not necessarily all at once: - better RoF (probably around +20 %) - better accuracy under ~5 km - better secondary artillery range (probably + 1,5-2 km) However, changes mentioned in post above might help as well. The problem is not that BBs are severely UP - but that their gameplay encourages camping (staying in the back). They should have better defense and consistent offense against enemy artillery (especially CAs), while still being dangered by aviation and long-range DD attacks.

Which means that BBs are strongly relying on team support. Which of course works great in random battles... I'm actually very disappointed in BBs (only up to Kongo FYI), mostly because of RNG dependence + long reload combo (kinda like playing arty in WoT). It's frustrating to wait 30 seconds again and again, because you couldn't kill a single low-health target (although you shoved 80% of it in two salvoes earlier) - while being constantly shot (and often burned) by high-DPM cruisers, or trying to avoid spammed torpedoes. Yeah, citadel hits are fun... but that's it. CAs and DDs are definitely more enjoyable.

    Idea: two minimaps

But it shows "trained" ship only if given commander is in a reserve. If he's on other ship, it will state this one. What I mean: anybody playing WoT is familiar with problem "where did I put camo net/binoculars", until a mod helping with that came (Auto Equip). It's kinda similar.

    Idea: two minimaps

One - as it's now, with general view of map and battle. Second - covering a lot smaller area, directly around player's ship (e.g. 1,5 km). It should show land, other warships (both enemy & allied), and torpedoes. Moving direction of everything should be clearly shown (e.g. previous / predicted course as line). It could be circular in shape, and put directly above "big" minimap. Of course, could be toggled on/off. It should be already in vanilla - otherwise eventually such mod will appear. What do you think? PS. Forgive me, if anybody had similar idea in past. PPS. Also, something from an entirely different area: you can't see "default" ship of commander, when he's posted to another vessel. This should be corrected.

    Idea: two minimaps

Thanks, Mr Obvious. And actually my idea came after being stuck by allied warship, or being torpedoed by allies. What I mean - problem from unexpected direction. Such "radar", how you call it, would help both sides. Also, again - I'm afraid somebody will do such mod eventually. Better if it is part of vanilla then. Yeah, but if you have some premium ships, or use one commander on few warships (I suppose his skills work 50% then?), you don't know which one he's trained to, until you assign him to that ship. It's a small burden now, but could be bigger with more trees & ships. Actually, I rather tend to spend too much time outside gunnery view, instead of trying to shoot something... I haven't played Warplanes.

  13. I have problem with accuracy when playing BB (of course on longe ranges), so any helpful advices (or videos) would be very appreciated. May even a "Gunner Academy" thread?
  14. Hmm... so it's worse than in WoT? There without a premium I'm still making some silver at T8, and with my single T9 I'm coming mostly even.

    Possible game breaking mod

I find XVM very useful in WoT, it tells me who I can count on in my team, and who to fear most among enemies (especially in connection to tank & map). I'd like that in WoWs. But aiming mod - here I agree, devs should prevent it in some way, probably best server-siding such data.

    Japanese Warship Project Numbers

It was shiplists 205, 613 and 720, continued from issue 87 until 156 (last TBS, so whole series wasn't finished, ending about 1940). Over 400 pages in total, so I can't find precisely this info now... (or actually, haven't time for that ).

    Soviet/Russian Warship project numbers

Sorry, it should be ~1945 (or even 1944). My typo. Article says "in the end of war". And actually, that's proposal of Petropavlovsk (Marat 1921-43) conversion, using parts of damaged Frunze.
