Hood is a strong ship - no doubt. Actually the best British ship in the game as game design goes. Not gimmicky but special. Would've loved if the BBs would have been like her. However, I'll find a niche for Ashitaka! Still, does anyone know if the regular green camo is included in the large bundles?
-
She is gorgeous! Question: I am inclined to start playing again and pick up the Admiral bundle no 1 (just because I appreciate WG releases a dreadnought even if some spoil sports moan). However I also want the green camo - does the larger package include both camos or only the cartoonish?

Sieht zwar irgendwie interessant aus aber das wäre wieder so ein Teil, das ich sowieso kaum spiele. Hab eh zu viele Schiffe. Von daher passe ich.
-
This. And the problem is not only a ridiculously low skill floor but an unproportional reward for this dumbed-down point and click. Makes playing other BBs feel like astrophysics. It would be fine if they would be easy to play but also less rewarding but this combination is bad for the game. And again: absolutely unnecessary fail here. A plain vanilla line would have been the best WG could have done to the line.

Yep Orion is worse than the infamous Impregnator and she is not perma banned. Actually it is mostly Orion and the two top tiers which need some nerfs. Still strongly dislike the very bad design of the overall line with HE and cloaking though. Wish they'd change the whole line to something more vanilla.

I haven't played much lately but would come back once Ashitaka hits the game. Still looking forward to her - strong or not.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Sounds half way balanced and not overly gimmicky (yet). Hope they'll keep the line down to earth this time (not like the braindead monkey ships). -
Any news here?

Should Wargaming change the name of Tier X BB "France" to a different one?
1MajorKoenig replied to ImperialAdmiral's topic in General Discussion
I voted "other" as these proposals aren't better than "France". I think "Jeanne d'Arc" would have been perfect but France also works for me. -
Also doch Zerstörer mit Radar...

Let's be generous and give her some love :-)

Sorry to call you out on this but it's [edited]. That is the same as saying dealing with a Nikolai is l2p. Of course you can overwhelm RN BBs as any other ship in the game but that's not the point. The combination of low skill high reward gameplay and the unique cloaking device makes them imbalanced and toxic. The real issue is not even that they are OP but that they are extremely shitty designed - misusing two artificial game mechanics that have been introduced to give smaller ships a chance to meet battleships on relatively equal terms. Giving these to BBs themselves is retarded and harming the game play even further (on top of existing problems such as interclass balance and lack of team play).

Her design is indeed contradictory and you can easily see WG did some fantasy refits they don't have a clue about (again). Nevertheless she is good fun due to having still amazing guns and torps. Yes her turtleback is unfortunately only a quarter of Amagi's (fictional) 100mm. Would love them but steeply angled she still tanks truckloads of shells. Just not as easy as Amagi. That said I totally don't understand why WG gave KII worse turtleback than Amagi. Doesn't make any sense and is indeed annoying (I still love her though as she doesn't look as ugly as WG's Amagi) EDIT: too much booze
-
That is a good idea! Also it would be good to increase the citadel roof armor as the overmatch mechanic is totally artificial and creates a problem here. Just a few millimeters so she doesn’t get randomly citadeled from relatively short ranges
-
Agree that AA is a gimmick and doesn't make the ship's value. However I was initially also on the 0.1 worse Sigma sucks fence but I got used to it. The one situation where Amagi is clearly still better is slowly kiting away at long range which is a little boring anyway. I tend to be more dynamic with my Kii than I was with Amagi. The torpedoes are not only a gimmick but deliver a great point blank damage peak in late games. As you end up against T9 and T10 most of the times anyway your guns (or Amagi's) are not always punchy enough to force it. Towards the end of the game I almost always find myself in knife fighting distance (bow on she is tanky enough) where the torps make a difference even against the bigger animals. Long story short - I used to have the same objections against KII as you but gave her some time and now enjoying her very much in her own right.
-
Well ok Buff-time then. But don’t touch her looks she is awesome! @Haleos Tosa at T7...? Hell no, or maybe in her actual dreadnought config which Indount WG will do. Look, with these idiotic fantasy refits you can make any ship work at any tier. You simply change the shells, the armor, the speed, the range, the AA, the Secondaries and the looks of a ship and it works. Clever (clever as in retarded stupid)
-
In wouldn't say Mutsu is weaker than Fuso. Certainly a bit harder to play (which isn't hard as Fuso is probably one of the easiest to play) - but equally strong yet different enough to make both viable at the tier. KII is pretty much similar to Amagi, a little weaker here a little stronger there but both are able to perform on a very high level. Kaga is arguably a little OP and Ishizuchi is straight better than Myogi. Same for Atago vs Mogami. How Musashi will perform remains to be seen but I rather expect a terribly OP steamroller - straight up stronger than this awkward thingy called Izumo. So no, I don't see this scandalous mistreatment of the poor IJN that some Weeboos try to make out. That said I would be keen on having WG buff Ashitaka a little as I am very much looking forward to the ship and would appreciate some comfort of living changes to make her more enjoyable. Especially considering that Nagato is still one of the strongest T7s around as a direct competitor
-
I wouldn't say WG dislikes IJN. It is coincidence that they have this great looking unused hull. I see why Flamu dislikes her but think the style pretty much portrays what the Amagi was. WG could make a case for her being actually more of a T6 though or give her a little comfort of life buff line un-overmatcheable citadel roof to limit the ugly hits to the sides. @_DeathWing_ what's wrong with KII? Having a blast in her tbh....
-
Well she seems to be a glass cannon. I wouldn't say no to a buff (citadel roof comes to mind) but we shouldn't forget that the real Amagi was exactly like that. One could make a case or her being T6 though.
-
So, will Courbet be T4 then?

Uber OP russian BB study from 1914

I think you spoiled WG's surprise.... by revealing the Russian T3 bottlesheep before release.... -
Well yes this is bad data for sure. I haven't seen it and can't say how often it happens but I am challenging if this kind of behaviour is really invalidating the over data base which is exceptionally large for a test ship.

Well as I said - WG knows the stats associated with the test results and feedbacks so understands how average players experience the ship and CVs in general. And then they can decide if they balance the ship for a small top player group or more towards the average player or something totally different. The tester base is uniquely diverse and large and allows intriguing insights. Like it or not.

While I understand the point I don't agree. WG has the stats of the "testers" so is easily able to measure the uptake/perception within different groups (unicorns, goods, average joes, bad players. Absolute bad players). This gives a very interesting picture that goes well beyond testing some plane loadout ideas. This pseudo-elitism in the community isn't the way to bring CVs into a somewhat bearable state but rather an expression of some few individuals trying to conserve their edge of others. The current CV implementation is just bad and centuries behind what Battlestations could muster a decade ago. WG has the opportunity to collect some unique data right now and I hope they draw some reasonable conclusions out of it. With regards to "a bad CV player ruined my game" - guys take a chill pill! I don't know how many hundred of my game got ruined by absolute idiots in battleships hugging the border and ending up alone and full health toward the end of the match. Yes in an online (team?) game there can be frustrating moments but the GZ test phase is at least something valuable.
