I do have both but I guess you know my opinion on PEF by now. Hood is very down to earth. Very tanky when angled, pretty fast and her guns are ok. These are Warspite guns with slightly less Sigma I believe - not the HE slingers from the silver line. They feel slightly lacking but the overall package works quite well. Many people do find her a little boring but Iike her that way. No frills I would call her. PEF on the other hand is massively lacking in the main gun department and only “compensating” for it with massive long range AA. The lack of impact when you hit things makes her rather unenjoyable to play. I wouldn’t recommend her in her current rather pitiful state. But I guess that came across already EDIT: the best comparison I have seen on this thread would be mix between Kongo and Yorck (pre-Buff)

Bayern has two big advantages on top of turtleback armor: 1) distributed armor (PEFs belt which does continue all the way to the bow is under water, hence she has 25mm everywhere and gets easily overmatched) 2) 38cm guns which can overmatch other BBs’ bows (PEF’s can’t) Speedwise they are almost the same (25 vs 28), Secondaries are the same, AA is almost the same.

Being free seems to be an accepted excuse for being a steaming pile of garbage. That worries me (and I strongly disagree)

She isn’t. Neither unfortunately for Mutsu, Dunkerque, Bayern, Fuso, New Mex or König. I would be surprised if she would be a match for WeeVee41

Bought the ship for the reason she is the follow up design to the Derfflingers. Why not grind and get her for free? I did the DoY grind last year but don’t have the time to spend so much time once more in the game in such a timeframe. On the other hand I don’t care about spending 25€. But the result should be somewhat enjoyable

I got it for „collecting“ a number of ships (don‘t know what the needed number is - have 78 at the moment after cleaning house). It cam through an ingame popup saying “hey collector” or something like that

Nein Secondaries unter T7 sind Beiwerk. AFT und BFT pushen halt auch die (Gimmick)-Flak, die sollten es schon sein. Aber Modul und der manuelle Skill sind weniger sinnvoll meiner Meinung nach. Gleiches gilt genauso für die Bayern übrigens. Manual AA ist bei beiden + König wiederum sinnvoll

@MrConway was so kind to invite me to leave my feedback about Prinz Eitel Friedrich here as I didn’t manage to hide my frustration well apparently. Main main criticism of the ship is that it combines too many main gun drawbacks in one package which in combination ruins the fun using her. Namely: - very poor pen for the AP - relatively high airdrag - mediocre turret traverse - (bad HE which I find ok to not continue this HE-BB story any further) Combine this with BB accuracy (though slightly less terrible thanks to better sigma), BB reload and a large and sluggish platform she isn’t particular exciting or fun. She isn’t terribly UP but just not fun due to the frustrating Main Gun performance. This problem is amplified by the fact that she will see T8 relatively often. All in all she is quite “meh” which is a shame considering how much she was anticipated by the “ship lovers” faction who were very much looking forward to the first Imperial Battlecruiser. She’s seems like a big disappointment and a pretty big downer overall. To keep things constructive I am sharing what I think would be adequate to make her worthwhile: “Meh” -> “average”: Reload down to 26sec ”Meh” -> “Good”: reload down to 24sec and reduced air drag Cheers

I get that mate ;-) My problem with that is that WG made her a paywall to get steel rather than make ppl want the ship itself.

Ok thanks. Just did the comparison between König, Bayern (which was the pen-turd T6 before PEF), PEF herself and Dunkerque. PEF has clearly the most unattractive pen curve. She is slightly above König up to about 8-9km but really? At that distance even Anshan’s AP is sufficient ;-) Beyond 8/9km she is clearly worse than König a tier lower (wilkatis?). Bayern has a similar curve as PEF but constantly about 40-50mm higher all the way through (and she has the stated overmatch potential). And Dunkerque? Starting about 200mm better at point blank and compares about 500mm vs about 350mm worth of pen at 10km. Yes really no difference really?

I don own Cossack but was surprised about the buff as she didn’t appear to be too lacking. I guess a lot of that is still the MM topic around uptiering. And that certainly comes into play for PEF as well. She is ok - while boring - at T6 but isn’t fun against T8. And the bad pen is also ok if that’s her flavor but then she’d need ROF (more like Scharnie). The overall package is the prob. But yea will post my impressions part 2 here after 10 games

Not only that. They have the French uber-pen going for them. Plus gimmicky reload booster. Heck even Gascogne in TX matches is great as the shells are superb. PEF’s are not.

Not meant to be insulting but I am indeed highly surprised how the STs came to such conclusion. In my simple mind testers would find problems with the product before it hits production. I would be curious why you and your ST friends came obviously to the exact opposite conclusion. LWM for example didn’t test the last iteration much before release she was apparently tied up with other reviews. But you state you did - hence my curiosity what made you think that this one is a fabulous idea. But I will try to force me to do 10 games to gather more impressions (but frankly, the ship is very casual - any surprises would surprise me)
