Which is possible in a 1-on-1 scenario but not in a Fleet/team engagement. I don’t want to derail the thread any further - I was just pointing out with an example that counterplay isn’t first on WG’s Prio list.

Too bad if Conq has better concealment than most of her targets - and positioning... well kind of the only way. Meaning hiding. Pure excitement. However I am not here to complain about Conqueror although I find her design toxic and not promoting dynamic gameplay. What I would prefer against such a ship though: automatic CIWS which shoot down Conq’s shells, potentially a button which improves the defensive effect and if we are really crazy even a plane Consumable which could greatly reduce the impact of the incoming attack. If I further knew that I have roughly two minutes to the next strike - now that would be awesome. Ah wait

That is true. Normal CL and DD yes. But BB HE spam? What is your counter?

Ah finally the good old counterplay point. WG is famous to master this piece superbly since years. With CVs - well they at least tried: - Auto AA so you don’t even get distracted - Sector Button with Auto damage built in (would love that on a BB against DD...?) - cover each other and overlapping auras (and to a lesser extend clouds) - ship borne fighters which are pretty strong surprisingly Now: compare that to HE spamming RN monkey BBs. What is the counterplay there? Hide from battle? Or Subs - well let’s see :-)

In fact there is a correlation between time spent in the game and money spent. There are some people who never pay but it is a pretty easy calculation. Make people play more and money will flow. Combine that with the fact that WOWS has a pretty stable veteran player base and struggles to attract additional/new players you will see that veterans need to be catered for. Problem: The playerbase is pretty diverse in opinions so you won’t find a common ground that makes everyone happy.

That is exactly the point. Currently you are saying there are not even 100 decent CV players (see about contradicting one self) which is a pretty low number. Are these already significant? Assuming these 100 are indeed playing really always to the full potential? Also - how does that compare to other classes? I am not arguing whether the game is better now. In fact I think there have been a lot of bad additions and changes to the game. And I am not in favor of dumbing down the game. However if concepts fail to reach a certain attractiveness they need to be reviewed

Lines: if you plot a development of certain key indicators over time you end up with a line. Or multiple. Especially useful in an unstable / learning environment. Assuming all mechanics are used it it’s full potential: questionable approach. You see a lot of times that users use the product NOT exactly how you envisioned it. Top players benchmark: yes and no. You certainly want to look at the strongest group to understand the potential of a ship or class. That’s what WG is trying. What is less interesting is if a single player or very few overperform. This can have a million reasons - eg they don’t do anything else all day. Whatever.

Which doesn’t really matter. One can still see how good, average and weak players are doing compared to each other and how the situation compares to other ships/classes. If your personal impression is correct, WG would see two pretty low lines for average and bad players and a very high one for the good players. However I have some doubts there, especially on the level of the “average” group

I understand the differences between the classes but why do you think WG balances CVs different to other classes?

They said they divide the player base into three groups which lets them check wether it is an easy ship or requires more skill (basically how close these groups are to each other). I think they also said that certain outliers are excluded - which is standard procedure in statistics. I think they showed some of these reports and how they look like.

I can only assume you are talking about their “influence”-KPI? No they did not disclose the weighting, just the input values. Arguably there won’t be a weighting everyone agrees 100% anyway so. However that is only one of the mechanisms - another one being comparing ships to other ships of the same players.

Even if that would be true - what is WG doing different on cruisers and destroyers? Or aren’t they equally bad balanced in your opinion?

While you can’t believe everything obviously plus the fact that things sometimes magically change (“No Subs”) I don’t see why I shouldn’t believe the tools and procedures they showed us which they use to make balancing decisions.

Do we need first more premium ships for the other nations ?

This! The hype is almost gone. Not sure if it is because we have so many ships already? Or just that the recent lines didn’t really spark my interest (Russian BBs for example are for me an immersion killer). I mean there are still lines that would hype me (British and German Battlecruisers for example) -
Again - unless you can prove that this is indeed the case with some numbers on a global scale it is simply a claim. Don’t think I have seen your opinion on the summit presentation but maybe I forgot. It’s been a while. Though to Ben honest I can’t image that you agree with it based on your other comments. 0.8.5 + 0.8.6 where indeed pretty bad versions. Unless - of course - if you want a untouchable auto-win-AA ships and you don’t want to worry about the fact that there is a fourth class in the game. In that case these patches were of course smooth (=easy mode). And yes, in case the premium ships ended up in a totally different place compared to what they were on sales day WG should have offered another round of refund.

And you think personal attacks are a good basis for interesting discussions? Here we agree. I am not hyped about subs either. I don’t like what I have seen about ASW/counter play nor this whole odd tier stuff nor 30kn submerged subs. Not sure about that

Look for the CC summit presentation. They showed their numbers and how they use them. I understand that position. I think change is inevitable in such a game so you can’t really hold tight to anything really. Which is especially annoying if the game is in a state one would like conserve. About the addition of subs in particular - I am not surprised. I can’t say I am a huge proponent of that idea and don’t like what I have seen of the concept so far but apparently WG thinks it is the only way forward. I don’t know really if that will make the game better though EDIT: what I CAN tell you from my own perspective though: my excitement about new line announcements have almost completely died down. If I remember 2015/16 any new line was a huge happening and I was really excited. By now I barely notice the announcements. Nor have I played any of the recent lines much. Maybe WG is even right and I am not the only one needing fresh ideas

Hey hey Yep in this particular instance I doubt that avoiding ALL Flak is really such a big issue as some here try to make it look like. Dodging some clouds sure but I would be curious to see if it is really such a biggy tbh. Mind you: overall. If I have once in 5000 games a CV player who dodges my clouds I won’t even bother. To the skill gap topic WG showed their analysis on that - However some of the players have a contradictory opinion. Honestly even if WG would show such analytics more often I think a lot of people would just go “they are just making up stuff, they look for numbers supporting their narrative, etc”. Not sure if such discussions are fruitful when some players are so much stuck in their opinions.

Is that a serious question? If clouds do a significant portion of the overall damage overall the claim “they are useless” is simply wrong. So lets just see the overall numbers

No offence but do you even read? I wasn’t even talking about how strong the combined AA level is at the moment (I have an opinion but that doesn’t matter at the moment). I was referring to your claim that Flak (clouds) is useless because it CAN be dodged. And I simply asked for numbers to prove that AA clouds are really inefficient on an overall scale. Seems difficult to stay on topic? With regards to OP/UP - it’s been all said. I won’t continue on that with you Hence: still waiting to see if you have something to back your claim on the clouds or whether it is just your personal impression. Which by the way would be fine but you should mark it as such
