Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Bellegar replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
You realised you just dug your own grave regarding this discussion? You're seeing something means you perceive something. Which means it's as subjective as it gets. First of all, a human's memory is selective as hell. Ask two people to recall the same event (that they both experienced/witnessed at the same time) and you'll end up with two completely different stories. Second of all, your brain sees what it expects to see. Ever heard of optical illusions? Third of all, confirmation bias is real. Edit: Also, what the hell has jail got to do with this? -
Do you think WG should introduce&create new maps and stop over-making the existing ones?
Bellegar replied to B010011A's topic in General Discussion
I don't really need new maps that badly. But WG, PLEASE for the love of all that is holy, stop 'improving' existing maps so they become just variations of Mountain Range! Why does every single map nowadays have to be absolutely symmetrical? Why does every single map have to have a bunch of small islands in the same pattern as other, already existing, maps? I don't remember who it was, and where I saw it, but somebody here had a very nice 'tutorial on map making' picture. You're definately not alone. That version was the best. But it doesn't have a bunch of small islands in a vertical row, so it's bad and has to go If they keep going in this direction with map 'improvements', even Ocean will have a vertical row of islands at 1/3 of the map border -
I was going to make this joke But there's so little alcohol in Guinness that you really need like 10 of them to get drunk Edit: but let's contribute something useful to the topic as well. I'll try to get as many Guinees as I can, but because I have to buy something anyway (you'd always need the two), I'll probably just buy the 10 pack for 90 cents and be a bit relaxed about getting the free Guinees. Gives a bit of breathing room at the end, as you can basically miss 8 Guinees over the time of the event.

Even Dune? Even? Pay some respects sir! Dune was a great game! I still have nightmares with voices in my head saying "harvester destroyed" -

I did play WOT, but that was ages ago. At that time, they had the same policy in Tanks as what I was talking about. And the last bit, that's just very very true. That's the thing. You have current experience with Tanks, which makes you the man from the gulag. I have very, very old experience with Tanks (forgot most of it), and let's say CBT experience of Ships. That memory of the early days of Ships makes me the man from the French Alpes. Like I said, I'm just too old for WG's current business model. My 'oldness' makes me remember the 'good old times' of WOWs, and while many changes were good, their change in business model was not (in my opinion that is). -

Alright, I have to admit I became a bit stingy from your previous post (the one I replied to). I read it with the same sentiment as @Allied_Winter here: But seeing this reaction makes me think I was wrong in that judgement. I can live with that Idunno. Maybe I'm just too old for WG, but in my opinion their original business model was perfect. The business model of "paying for optional extras", and where the design philosophy of premium ships was still "better than the stock silver counterpart, but slightly worse than the upgraded silver counterpart". Those times proved that people were also willing to pay for optional extras and captain trainers. But like I said, maybe I'm just getting too old for WG's way of making money btw, I agree that generally WG is doing a fine job, otherwise I wouldn't still be here. It's just that people tend to only get vocal when thing's are not fine (in their opinion). -

Bellegar replied to ColdWarFish's topic in General Discussion
But it also doesn't mean every change is good. I do. But we don't have to agree on this. As long as we both understand what the other is saying, it's fine by me because that means we're having a proper discussion. Instead of just dismissing the other side as "invalid arguments" or using personal attack or empty oneliners without any explanation, there's actual understanding. We still disagree (that's fine!), but at least we had a proper discussion using valid arguments. And those things are far too rare on these forums, so thanks for that at least Hehe, and while I was writing all this, you basically said the same thing here -

Because WG makes a point of advertising this game as free to play, where you only pay to speed up the grind Because WG gave me that right The same stuff as somebody that paid to speed up the grind Not at all I already told you. Reread my posts, I'm not going to copy paste them here. I'll gladly elaborate more if you have concrete questions to ask. -

You won't get any of the hall of fame boxes, as you need to complete all missions to get access. So you can only enter the hall of fame if you either buy Cossack or win the lottery. No, I'm making a big deal out of this to prevent WG for thinking "this system works" and then 'developing' it further and using it in every single even we'll get in the future, thus locking ever more and more content behind paywalls and lotteries. Do you remember back when WG only sold premium ships in bloated bundles? Do you know why that stopped? Because people made a big deal out of it.... -

Bellegar replied to ColdWarFish's topic in General Discussion
Yes, you can now 'buy' Cossack in the arsenal. Yay free ship. That's not the point. The point is that you cannot use your brand new free Cossack to retroactively complete the missions that you missed before. In the other events, you could. That's the point. The containers from the Cossack (or silver ship) missions during the first weeks. Which basically boils down to some stuff of your choice from the arsenal. Ps. Raaaaahhhhh people write too fast I can't keep up with this many posts in this short amount of time -

Bellegar replied to ColdWarFish's topic in General Discussion
No it isn't. It's a bonus container for people that buy Cossack. You could spend 1000 euros on premium time at this exact moment, and you'll not get any bonus. Basically it's a bundle with Cossack and some containers, but then still having to grind (complete the missions, I know they're easy and not a real grind, but couldn't think of a better word) for those containers. Not entirely the same way. French BBs or US CLs were not needed to fully complete an event (not talking about the US campaign here, as it's permanent and you can complete the thing retroactively - that is, after acquiring the silver ships with normal grind). Yes, but only for the people that bought Cossack or won the silver ship lottery. You could have all the free time of the world, if you don't want to spend money on Cossack, or don't win the silver ship lottery, you can't do sh*t for that hall of fame. -
You almost had a good event WG, almost...
Bellegar replied to ColdWarFish's topic in General Discussion
I am surpsided that you still manage to not get the point. The point is this: in the past (Duke of York for example) you could do all 'normal' missions, grind all the way to the end, get the free ship (Duke of York) and complete the other ship exclusive missions. Thus, you could complete the entire thing for free (granted, the timeframe to complete the ship specific missions was very tiny). You only paid to speed up the process and be able to complete the ship exclusive missions right from the start. Right now, you cannot grind all the way to the end, get the free ship and complete the ship specific missions afterwards. If you grind to the end, you'll get Cossack (not even for free, but let's ignore that for sake of comparison), but then you can't retroactively complete the missions, as they've become unavailable. As such, you cannot complete the entire thing for free. You're not paying to speed up the grind, you're paying to complete the entire event. Do you see the difference now? 100% of the missions completable for free VS less than 100% of the missions completable for free. And no, adding a lottery next to the paywall does not make this problem go away. It makes it even worse, as the lottery in itself is also: - a paywall requiring you to buy containers in the premium shop - a grind to grind out the received silver ship - not a solution at all, as the same thing still stands. If you receive a silver ship during mission set 3, you cannot complete mission sets 1 and 2. As such, it solves nothing and the issue still stands. -
I'm a submarine...you're a submarine...we're submarines
Bellegar replied to FooFaFie's topic in General Discussion
No, the video is not enough. It does not show all aspects of submarine gameplay. It does not fully show what submarines are and aren't capable of. It only shows PvE event gameplay. Do you need more reasons why that video is not enough? That video raises as many questions as it answers. At the very least. Yes I did read the thread before I posted, I always do. Did you? Because I'm seeing all kinds of posts by WG explaining that nothing is set in stone yet about regular game modes. And yet you are so sure they will come. You even say so yourself: "after Halloween event they will collect feedback on this new content". So first you say that feedback will be collected. WG says feedback will be collected, and that no decision has been made yet. But despite all that you are 110% sure that submarines will be coming to regular game modes. You must be either a psychic or a god. I don't believe in both. Did I say I'm every BB (player)? No. You were the one who tries to speak for every BB player. I just requested from you to stop that and not speak for me (as I am a BB player). After that, I merely gave my opinion that it's pointless to whine about a game feature that's not even planned to make it into the regular game. They're testing it in PvE event for a reason. Feel free to b*tch and whine all you want AFTER testing them there. I know I will, and depending on whether I like it or not, I might even join you in the whine. But at least I have the common sense to wait and see before preaching the end of the world. (before you say anything, no it isn't planned. It's planned as a Halloween event. What happens after that is uncertain. If people love it, it might get planned to become a feature in regular modes. If not, it won't be planned) -

Bellegar replied to FooFaFie's topic in General Discussion
I remain sceptical about submarines, but I have to admit the Halloween event looks really cool and it's a nice and safe way to test this. Balance is easier in PvE modes as you only have to worry about the one class you're adding. Makes it possible to completely focus on core gameplay. So I'm looking forward to trying them out in the Halloween event. I don't see it as dramatic as @OVanBruce, but I agree with his general sentiment that subs don't belong in the regular game modes (yet!). There's plenty of wonky stuff in game that should be fixed first before adding in a new class that will need a complete overhaul of game balance and ship roles. But that's for the future, if they get added to PvP game modes. We'll see. Let's first try them in a relatively safe and easy to balance PvE environment. Could you stop talking about "we BB players"? You definately don't speak for all of us!! While I agree with your general sentiment (as you can see above, I'm sceptical myself), wtf is your problem? You haven't even tried them. Nobody said they will be added to the regular game. Nobody knows how they will affect the balance of the regular game modes and classes. We know nothing about subs, other than that we can test their core gameplay in the Halloween event. If it turns out to be bad, by all means burn WG for it after Halloween. But stop EDIT before you've even seen anything. Especially since you pretend to be EDIT on behalf of every BB player. -
Wargaming Anniversary Stream Giveaway Codes (looks like no more codes incoming)

Thanks guys That would make it 13h CEST, which should be doable for me. I'm indeed expecting a Halloween announcement, but CV news would't surprise me too. -

It's the link to the facebook version of the stream. At least that's what I see when clicking on it (don't have a facebook account and no clue how facebook works, so I might be wrong) -
Thanks @Leo_Apollo11, I did not notice that. Now I also finally understand what @NothingButTheRain was talking about in the other thread Somehow I completely missed that PSA

Just came across @fumtu and his Worcester in ranked (I was in my secondary specced Kurfürst). I felt I had quite a good game, but for some reason we just couldn't kill any enemies. Took 59k damage of a Moskva with a triple citadel, but he survived the game. Took 50k damage from a Republique, but he survived the game.... In the end I did 170k damage, gotten a High Caliber, but we only killed 3 enemies, while they killed all of us. And our Montana was salty while coming last on the xp scoreboard Oh well, at least meeting Fumtu was nice. And he played best of the team, so was allowed to keep his star -
Haha ok. Thanks for giving me a heart attack Still doesn't make sense to me though Do the subparts of the collection give anniversary containers? Because (for me at least) it doesn't say so if I hover over the reward thingy...
