You are right, that was indeed the intention of the rework. This also shows just how much of a complete failure this rework has become.

Massively off-topic, but I missed something.... what changed to Texas with 0.7.12? Yeah, but the EU office is in Prague, so somebody there has to be available I mean, yeah of course it's holiday season and all. But it's the end of the first week in January, you're not going to tell me the entire EU office is deserted.

No we can't. Not because I'm against change, but because of what they're doing: they are changing a live server with released status into an open beta test. I don't mind beta test, I was in Closed Beta Test for Warships, but I do mind being forced to play the beta test server (well, not forced, I could quit alltogether...), which for some weird reason they call live server, without alternative to play the 'real' game that has been released for over 2 (3?) years. Besided, we all know WG won't listen to feedback on the live server as well. At least not our feedback, since we're not Russian server. They'll probably say "we receive mostly positive feedback, so stfu grumpy EU forumites". In short, the process so far can be described as follows: Idea is posted -> community says "oh dear", but the general concensus seems to be "this has potential, let's wait for the test phases and see if it works" -> test phase started -> community says the core gameplay definately has some potential, but some things are off -> few more rounds of testing -> balance is completely broken, but it's more of an interface and mechanics test, so let's wait and see for now -> rework hits PTS -> balance is still nowhere to be found, some mechanics just don't work (automatic damage control, wut??) and they release an article where they admit they can't do their work properly ("we aren't finished, but we will push it to live server regardless and balance afterwards") -> update hits 'live server' -> data shows something (don't want to be doomsayer, so I won't predict what it will show) -> WG finally decides to balance things over the usual cause of several updates -> and at the end of 2019 we can finally go back to a balanced game again. Note that WG has proved that nowhere in this whole process they ever listened to the feedback they got from us, the community. And in particular the CV experts get ignored. Just finish the rework properly. Then push it back a month, polish it, put in on PTS and then release a properly done rework of the CVs and everybody will be reasonably happy. Of course balance won't be perfect just by closed testing phases, but it should be nowhere near as bad as it is now. This test iteration is utterly broken, but they want to push forward with it either way, for some unknown reason. Maybe they honestly believe they can't do anything wrong. Maybe they believe we're all idiots and they're right. Maybe they've gone to live under a rock and don't hear what we're saying. Maybe they don't care what we say. Maybe they want to kill the game. I don't konw. But I do know they're pushing an unfinished beta test into a "live server with a released game". I've played all public tests of the rework. I will also play my normal surface ships in 0.8.0 and try the carriers in 0.8.0. But if it's anything like it's now (and it most likely will, since there's almost no time left for proper changes, all the can do now is tweaking and that's just not enough) I will either move to Operations, Coop or quit and enjoy the shitstorm on the forums. And even if the devs agree that the rework failed (or let's be generous and call it just unbalanced), they're not known for their quick reaction times. They even announced publicly that the game will be unbalanced for several months. But we all know it will be much more. They've proven in the past that they need months just to collect their precious data. Then they need to come up with a solution, test it and eventually implement it. That's not doomsaying or being pessimistic, that's having the faith in WG they deserve: namely none. And I'm not saying this because I'm a cynic bastard (I am, but that has nothing to do with this statement), but I'm saying this because they themselves have proven this to be true.

From what I've seen in the news thread and from what I experienced in the CV test server, I expect the forums to burn so hard it will make the Californian forest fires look like nice candlelight I don't think I'll play the game when 8.0 hits. I think all my time will be consumed watching the forum drama unfold. I just hope the stores around here don't sell out of popcorn by then

I really like Hood and Gneisenau. I hated my grind in Trolorado (still in or just after open beta, so no buffs), but I did quite well in that turd. Still hated it with a passion And of course Mikasa. That triple Mikasa division with forumites a few years ago was the most epic thing I ever experienced in this game I even got a double strike out of that

I'm not diving into the discussion you had with Blackfish. While you the box will always give you something that's more valuable than what you paid for the box (in this specific case of course, before some nitpick arrives), that doesn't mean it's not gambling. As far as I'm concerned (and your picture confirms that), the three gambling elements are present. I guess the discussion is about the second one, the risk or chance. I see it this way: there does not need to be a chance of losing money. People will always favour one prize above the other, even if they might be of the exact same value. Missouri vs a sh*tload of ramming flags, which would you prefer? While they are of the same value, people might feel the one to be more valuable to them (the same feeling that makes a worthless €10 watch that belonged to their dead father invaluable to some people). Because some prize is more desired than another prize, there is definately a risk involved in these boxes. Not to lose money, but to get a prize you desired slightly less. And then people buy more boxes to get their 'top' prize. And then some more. And then some more. And then they have a gambling addiction. I'm exaggerating of course, but I believe this is plenty of risk/chance to define this as gambling. Even while the risk of actually losing money/value is absent. And just because I'm curious... which language is your google?

Guys, the point is not that Belgium is banning gambling. The point is also not that Belgium is banning lootboxes. The point is that the same laws and requirements are in effect regarding lootboxes as they are regarding 'physical' or 'classical' gambling (you know, lottery, casino...). The problem here is that WG can't be bothered to meet all the nessecary requirements and get the appropriate licenses, so they take the easy route and just don't sell lootboxes. I'm fairly neutral in this matter, but a lot of the 'pro lootbox' people here seem to think that Belgian gouvernment is taking choices away from its citizens. It isn't. It is just applying gambling rules to a gambling process. That WG then decides to take the gambling part away from the game in Belgium because they don't want to get involved in said rules is not the fault of the gouvernment. That's the fault of WG (or whatever publisher... Blizzard has been picky with lotteries for ages) for being lazy.

Fully agree. I have burnt out by the game quite a bit, and that's not due to real life. That's completely due to the 'stress' of the marathons. I've been burnt out so badly, I didn't even see the Dreadnaught announcement.... I don't understand what their problem with "here's 40 missions, you have a month to complete them for the ship, have fun" type of events is.

I am probably a complete *edit.... But I can't seem to find the "test" client in my WG Center. I click on the "install additional game instance" just as explained in the tutorial. But then when I click on region I can only choose Europa, Asia, NA, CIS or PTS, there's no TST for me (or I'm blind). I realise it's probably just me doing something wrong, but I can't find what.... so any help?

From the previous 2 years, I remember this being good fun, but extremely frustrating at times. Lot's of idiots not keeping up with Tranny or even going back to hunt down the few Zikasas that spawn at the back. But I had some good fun playing it the past years, so I'll definately be giving it a go again. (and no, not just because I'm a completionist and I NEED that achievement for 5-starring all three operations )

I haven't tried Narai myself yet, so I wouldn't know if I'm having that issue as well. Will try to remember to pay attention when I actually get around to playing the operation

Lol this thread But I will try to say something on topic. In my opinion it's.... weird (let's be nice here) to call something a "community event" with "community contributors" without letting the actual community do the voting. In short, I agree that this version is much, much worse than the last version.

This might have to do with fat fingers. Pressing ctrl and shift at the same time will change the keyboard language (at least for Dutch keyboards) from US to Dutch. I don't think the letters change, but it will definately change the lay-out of the signs and punctuation and all that other stuff. At least I know I accidentally also press ctrl when I only need shift on occasion, so as I said, I blame fat fingers But none of that is helping the OP

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming him for the necro. I agree that it's no sin to necro as long as the thread is still relevant and the necroing post is a useful one. It was more that I was b'tching at @1MajorKoenig for b*tching at @Earl_of_Northesk while it was a 9 month old post.
