Sub info: Source is conversation between MrConway and Ev1n on Gamescom stream, with the occasional Q&A with Crysantos. Sorry for this not being a proper transcript, I'm just typing this along while I'm watching the stream. I did try to include the most important informations/answers. Submarines can proxi spot surface ships, surface ships cannot proxi spot subs. Submerging mechanics are currently similar to the Halloween event: surfaced, periscope depth (torping possible) and dive (no torping possible). Surfaced, subs can be spotted, radared and hydro'd like normal, radar does not work on periscope depth subs. Oxygen supply is also similar to the Halloween event. There MIGHT be a consumable to regain oxygen at periscope depth instead of complete surfacing. Currently, subs cannot cap while fully submerged. Deepwater torps do actually not run deeper in the water currently, so they will not hit submerged subs (as of now). Subs will eat torps when surfaced or at periscope depth. The same applies to all other ammunition types, but under water ballistics will be taken into account. More info in torping with subs: spread is significantly reduced when on periscope depth vs surfaced. After launching torps, the sub gets two active sonar pings. It takes the form of a single 'soundwave' progressing through the water from the sub to the surface ship. The surface ship has two targets, one at the bow, one at the stern. The sub's torps will be enhanced if the player manages to 'hit' the targets with the sonar 'ping': with one hit, the torps become 'homing', where they steer towards the surface ship. This steering is not too strong, and can still relatively easily be evaded. The second 'ping' hit will make the torps 'magnetic' and are practically guarenteed to hit. As a tradeoff, using active sonar like this will make the sub visible for the entire enemy team, no matter where they are and what distance from the sub. So for hunting subs: After using active sonar (unclear as of now if this also applies when the sub is normally spotted), there will be a circle around the last known position of the sub. The circle will have a timer, and will disappear when it hits 0. If a surface ship enters the circle before that, a new circle will pop up, and again and again, leading the surface ship to the actual position of the sub. Then the circle will start getting smaller and smaller, and the surface ship (as of now only DDs) will automatically drop depth charges as long as the surface ship remains in the circle. That seems to be the most important info for now. I will edit if more important stuff gets shown/talked about.

Comment from Crysantos: "the link does work, but there's a lot of people using it now, so give it some time"

Mutsu IS the epic twitch drop. However, there is apparently some sort of error with the ingame messages popping up for the wrong people Edit: Damn @Egoleter was quicker

Some small tidbits from the Gamescom stream: Günther Lütjens coming as Legendary German commander. Skills are still under development. The wallpaper also shows Franz von Hipper, but no mention of him as of yet. T8 German cruiser Mainz (no twitch chat, not mines ) is coming T8 German battleship Odin is also coming. Basically T8 Scharnhorst Halloween skins for Yamato, Montana, Shimakase, Khaba, Alaska... maybe more I missed with the speed of it all That's it for now. More info on subs is coming after the stage show when the Q&A resumes. I'll be back

advises and tactics about amagi
Bellegar replied to Mohammad_S__AbuSafieh's topic in General Discussion
You can't bowtank in Amagi, you just lose too much firepower. Instead, slap the rudder shift upgrade and wiggle that a$$ Face target, wiggle to fire all guns, angle back for the reload, repeat. When you get too close, turn around in the other's reload, and keep doing the same thing. Your guns are good at range, your armour is troll. While I had a lot of fun with secondary specced Amagi, you generally don't want to get too close in this ship. Besides, you have the speed to dictate fighting range. Sure you can take on an Iowa one on one. But just like with all BB vs BB action, it also depends on your gunnery and angle skills and the gunnery and angle skills of the enemy. -
How happy are you with the game right now? Reddit shows a rather grim picture.
Bellegar replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Sorry for double post, but I had to add this. While I'm not sure you're right about the majority (remember we forumites are only a small minority), this is so very true for me. I mean, the whole reason I'm still playing is because the core game concept is still appealing to me. I don't need more and more shiny stuff, I don't need OP Russian death star BBs. All I need is a good core gaming experience. That means more of the same, instead of more of something else. Improve balance, improve maps, improve MM, run the occasional event that's really worth grinding for once in a while. But improving the existing product doesn't make them much money, so they don't care -

I've had a love hate relationship with this game for years now. But I must admit the hate part is growing stronger and stronger. I've always taken some month breaks inbetween events because I got tired of the grind. I'm not happy with dumbing all the game mechanis down. I'm not happy with NTC (although it's completely bearable now that it doesn't buff ships. Still, releasing OP ships through a massive grindfest is stupid) I'm not happy with CV rework, but the rarity of CVs is making up for that a bit I'm not happy with event after event after event without a break. Even more so when they include Ranked and Clan Wars during said event I'm not happy with every event being more grindier than the last I'm not happy with the constant T9/10 premium flood. There once was a rule about T8 being highest premium tier to keep T9 and T10 "for the experts who grinded there". Yes I'm an oldtimer, but it worked I'm not happy with the current state of operations. All the fun ones got removed, and they put only the most boring one back in. Operations don't make them money I guess, so they don't care about them anymore BUT, and this is important, in essence this is still an enjoyable game for me. Otherwise I would have quit permanently instead of just taking the occasional break. For the meantime, I will continue playing and taking breaks like before. I will buy Friesland because I need a Dutch ship (and also because she looks interesting to play), but I'll tone down the other purchases and wait for subs. If they screw up subs like they screwed up CV rework (including live server beta tests) that will be the final nail in the coffin and I'm out. If they handle subs well, and even manage to balance them properly, I'll keep playing on an on and off basis, just like now. Finally, I do have to add that I had more fun grinding the French snowflakes in coop than I seemed to remember. So I could very well end up confining myself to just coop as an intermediate between how I play now and quitting completely. -

Bellegar replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Speaking of The Tirp.... The early days of that thing were glorious. So many idiots bought that thing, enemy teams always assumed I was a retard. I even made it worse by saying at battle start in all chat "wait, this thing has torpedoes?" or "so how does this HE/AP thing work?" They were proven wrong on many occasions There were times where I had more torp kills in my Tirpitz than in my DDs -

Bellegar replied to Major_Damage225's topic in General Discussion
Lol oh really? I did not know that Guess that's karma kicking in for taking a break when the 'rework' entered beta testing on the live server. I didn't play for a few updates then, so completely missed that announcement Oh well, I don't normally play torpedo boats or carriers, so not that important information for me. But thanks for pointing it out lol -

That's what I mean. It always takes a proper riot with torches and pitchforks to get anything to change. They never change something based on genuine feedback. -

Probably just @El2aZeR himself. "And so the Lord didst descend from the heavens, and with His anger, he didst smite thou with His mighty Wrath" -

Met @Dr_Snuggles in his Yamato and his two division mates yesterday. Was my first game in Bourgogne, having just enough steel from Ranked to buy her. Was a close win, but a fun game. If I remember correctly Snuggles was top of the team (might have been second), and I was third, so was a good game I was serving a 3 day chat ban yesterday, so I couldn't really speak, but thanks for that warning for the friendly torps -
Idea for reimplamantation of the IJN Kitakami
Bellegar replied to Major_Damage225's topic in General Discussion
Oh god please no! There are enough ships in the game held together by gimmicks alone What she needs is either: decent concealment proper armour torps that outrange radar removal of team damage removal of hydro removal of radar removal of citadel Or any combination of the above The problem is that it's a T4 hull, fitted with 40 torps. You can't balance that sh*t. If you give it sh*t torps, it's a useless turd because of the T4 hull. If you give it good torps, it will be OP by the shear number of them. It worked (sort of... there was still team damage) in Closed Beta because nobody had any clue what they were doing, there was no radar to spot ships, there was no hydro spotting torps, and people barely knew what a citadel was. -

Bellegar replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
Poll answer: hell no. I don't have the time to regrind all those lines necessary for a decent reward. Even if the grinds are much faster now than when I did them the first time. Besides, I don't feel like giving up on my high tiers ships during that time Hahahahaha You must be new around here :p When has WG ever listened to proper forum feedback regarding new or 'improved' mechanics or features? It always takes a proper riot for them to change something. -
Idea for reimplamantation of the IJN Kitakami
Bellegar replied to Major_Damage225's topic in General Discussion
First they'd need to follow Tanks and disable team damage, as that was the main reason she got removed. There are still myths going around that say that Kitakami had on average killed more green ships than red ships Other than that, I'm afraid I have to agree with @El2aZeR. The game has changed a lot since closed beta. Radar and even hydro makes the ship utterly useless nowadays, not to mention the non-existent armour and terribad concealment. There's a reason sistership Kuma sits comfortably at T4. It's sad, I'd like to see Kitakami come back in some form or another, but in the state of the game now, she's utterly useless -

Bellegar replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Can they be balanced at T9 or T10? I fully agree with all of you, but keep on dreaming guys, WG is not interested in those tiers. They barely acknowledge they exist nowadays We can't have low/mid tier premiums, people would start playing those tiers. Can't have that, that would make glorious NTC obsolete -

Isn't Veribus Unitis T5? I seem to remember them testing it at T4, it was OP and they moved it to T5. Or I'm wrong and they put it at T6, but that seems a stretch, even for WG's sledgehammer balancing -
Can Jean Bart 100mm Guns go over 19mm Pen?
Bellegar replied to Sunleader's topic in General Discussion
Ok I'll probably skip it then, as I will move that captain to Republique once I get there. Yeah, Jean Bart and Richelieu are not the primary ships for that captain. He's just there because he's my highest French captain waiting for the grind to end so I can get Alsace (and later Republique). -

Bellegar replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Mikasa No really, it's true. Instantly loved that crazy boat. Triple Mikasa division is still the most fun moment I've had in this game in all those years. I literally had to stop playing because I was laughing so hard when my secondaries scored 2 double strikes in one game, while my main guns never hit anything that game Also Warspite, which I used to run full secondary spec in closed beta. Later, when the Germans made secondary spec on any other ship obsolete I switched to standard tank build. Still love that thing, even though it's slightly crippled by T6 MM. I also love Arkansas, but I don't nearly play that ship as much as I would like. Still training a secondary captain for it to make full use of it's crazy secondaries. Last but not least: Nikolai. Because clubbing poor little T3 seals with Rasputin camo is just glorious
