the saddest truth is that no one...

In my Yubari, I try to defend carriers, but they often just sit there, and still send their torpedo bombers to the other edge of the map, and don't help out with incoming enemy threats. Incoming torpedoes? Sit there. Incoming DD, or CA. sit there. If BBs stick together, I'll tag along and support instead. A good CV player is a real asset to a team. Trouble is there are few out there, so why bother?

The List of Premiums Test ships.

The Yubari had a real nerf of its AA range recently, and it shows. I think there might have been a module change to the Gremy in this last mini patch on the server as I'm seeing a lot more module damage than before, or players are getting better?
  3. I have this for my destroyer captains, and can understand when it flags up as a warning with an amber colour, I've been spotted. However there are two other warnings that show if memory serves me correctly. One is green and the other is a bold flashed green. Do these mean I've broken contact? can no longer be seen by what was spotting me? Or that incoming fire is on the way. I often get the green one when I've laid smoke and I am running away, but the enemy is still firing at me. Anyone know for sure?

    Really Enjoying The Game!

Game play standard has plummeted since CBT. I really enjoy this game, but sometime I just have to wonder. When you see a Myogi sitting at the back "guarding" a carrier, whilst myself (Arkansas) and a cruiser get the s*&T beaten out of us, they play at the back. Why play? If all you can score is 100 in a tier 4 BB? It is a very addictive game too. It has not taken long to work out which ships are "keepers" and which ones should be sold. I've had some fantastic games in the Gremmy. Yes the game has a few kinks to sort out, but I think the WoT crowd are finding it a little difficult to adapt. I just hope that what happened on the WoT forums/games does not happen here (Nerf this!, and nerf that!, etc etc)

    Nerf those [edited] jap DD's

If you play US destroyers, your targets are those who are distracted, you set them on fire at long range, once on fire, move away, select another target. US destroyers tear IJN destroyers to bits. Sadly the japanese DD's can stay so far behind that, when you finally reached them, every one one the enemy team already had free shots on you. Don't chase them, use your mini map fight on your terms, US destroyers have faster firing guns. Use islands to ambush BBs, and CA's In fact you should be assessing the situation on your mini map very often. IJN may have longer range torpedoes, but there is more chance of a miss.

    Yubari Buff

Only now play it once a session to get my Japanese captain trained faster. Early days, but if no improvement in future patches it is getting scrapped. I think they got good sales of in CBT, and thought it was a good product, but they have not realised that it was an entry ship to CBT. In closed beta I felt it could escort and make a difference, now its just useless.

Ishizuch- Tier IV Premium IJN BB in Premium Shop

At first I was impressed (see earlier post), but not now. but If you have the Yubari and are looking for some relief with this ship, just forget it. It is a battlecruiser, and is faster than most BBs of similar tier(28 knots). The problem is, that the maps it finds itself on are too small, New Dawn, Big Race, etc you have nowhere to really effectively turn in battle at speed without either a collision with your team or islands or the edge and speed is what defines it. After playing it everyday, I regret buying it now. It cannot reliablely do damage to BB, so you must use HE and hunt cruisers. The shot dispersion is not good, I've hit hidden ships I was not even aiming at! (destroyers) behind a cruiser at 7Km. Like a battlecruiser in real life, it niether one thing or the other. It is very situational. In comparison to other premium ships? a poor choice. For more fun and credits, get a Warspite, Murmansk or Gremmy.

    ishizuchi bb premium

I like it. I like to hunt cruisers in it. It is not really a Battleship, its a Battle Cruiser, remember that, and know the role of Battlecruisers and all will be fine.

    Murmansk and Aurora!

I have the Gremyashchy, Murmansk, and Aurora. I use one captain, and only one captain for all three. All three ships are fun, and for premiums are quite good. The Aurora has a great broad side, is relatively fast firing, and but is slow 18-19 knots. I'd advise acting as a support ship, in so much as be behind someone else, who will be the focus of the enemy attention. The Murmansk has better AA than the US version. If I was allowed only three ships at their tiers, I'd choose those three, for credits, fun and XP.

    Yubari Buff

The Yubari IRL had SIX 8cm guns, but we only get to use 4 of them to attack surface targets? It needs its other two to make a difference. And they all need to be dual purpose. Otherwise its just a poor second line support ship.

A comment on post-closed beta Destroyers

Never saw your first answer Leluk06, but yes its mainly for the Japanese or Russian. The US requires a different play style. They are DD hunters, and lone target hunters, ambush predators.
  12. Akula971

I need some tips on playing US DD's please.

I play Japanese and the Russian destroyer. I hate nothing more than getting too close to a fast firing US destroyer, with my almost useless guns. Often running is not an option either, as they are just as fast. Does that tell you anything? Vastly different playstyles and tactics required, which is nice.

A comment on post-closed beta Destroyers

I have no problems with destroyers either in CBT or OBT. We have in open beta, what I would call the Soviet tank KV1 syndrome. All the new inexperienced players want the "Big ships", the damage dealers, and are in my opinion lazy in learning new skills. Those that do begin to play destroyers go up against cruisers, and battleships and expect to win? Most new players do not even know about the destroyers torpedo range, gun range, or detection range. To play destoyers well you should:- ( in my opinion) 1. Skirt around islands, don't go into narrow channels as there is no room to maneuver. Besides a good enemy destroyer captain will have sent a spread down the channel, just in case. 2. You need lots of space to run away. A smoke screen is not to hide in, its to cover your [edited]and your wild zig zags as you run away under fire to beyond detection range. 3. Know your detection range, stay the hell away from cruiser groups, fire torpedoes before you are detected (watching your range to target as you close) and then turn away, run away to reload. Rinse and repeat. Firing guns gives your position away, last resort. 4. Look for lone targets, pre occuppied with bigger threats. Use cover of Islands to ambush around corners, but best know what else is there too. No nasty surprises. 5. If the enemy has carriers try to sneak around the edge of the map to get to them. If your torpedoe range allows, fire a spread at the carrier and turn away, before it detects you. If detected go in fast blazing with HE to set him on fire. Beware tunnel vision, cruisers will rush to rescue them, be careful. But a cruiser chasing you, is not engaging your cruisers or battleships. 6. If attacking a lone battleship, try the above, and however if in close, fire HE before unleashing torpedoes, he'll use his repair function up, and you'll only need one hit to kill him through flooding. 7. US destroyers are difficult, they have good fast firing guns and turn rate, distracted targets are best targets. 8. Turn you AA OFF! Feel free to share your tips. But most of all have fun! Buy a Gremy! real fun!

No one seems to like me :(

Lemming trains often work in WOWs, if a team can concentrate fire. If i'm playing DD, I'll go off on my own, harass the enemy with 10Km torpedoes, and stay out of sight. Waiting for that lone cruiser or BB who hide behind islands, and gets a volley of close range torpedoes as a reward. Battle fleets stay together and provide mutual support.
  15. I bought this recently and have had quite a few fun games. I tend to focus on cruisers and usually get 2-3 of them per game. Its speed is also its downside, as you can often find yourself out in front, alone and become the focus of the enemy team, whilst the BB's that were behind seem to bugger off at the first sight of more than one enemy BB. It seems to be a more "Handy" ship than the Arkansas, which in itself is not bad at all. So with this, and my Yubari, it brings in some nice credits and trains my Japanese DD captain even quicker. 3 Ships one captain. You can in effect do the 3 ship training route with all nations, except the Warspite. Do I regret buying it? No, not at all, just requires a different play style.
  16. Here we all are fighting battles, getting xp, and having tons of fun. But what happens to all those modules researched, experience gained and ships researched, when the closed beta becomes open or finished? Do we all reset to zero on ships and experience or do we keep what we've earned?

It throws me out of the Queue

Same here. It brought the Battle loading screen up and then straight back to port. It happened 4 times this evening. Later I would click the Battle button, and nothing would happen. So I thought I'll exit and restart. I could not exit the game either. Crtl Alt Del to quit. Huh=ge packet loss and lag tonight too.
  18. I suppose if you have the Russian server playing verion 0.4 and other servers playing older versions it does give Wargaming two distinct data sets to evaluate. I wonder if they are reviewing the players increasing skill as players become more and more familiar and better at the game? But I suspect that as usual the EU server just lags behind as it is not as important to them as the RU server foks. It does seem that the emphasis is getting the game balance right before adding new nations. I have only one wish that they can save the game by banning all mods. No XVM, no aim mods, no new gun reticules. So far the quality of play and the civility of players on WoWs is far better than on WoT. I know that will all change when OBT starts.

Rudder turning by itself? (patch 0.3.1.97113)

Seen this. Sailing North at the beginning of a game, quite a way to go. I had my hands off the keyboard (drinking tea), and the ship turned slightly, heard a bell ring too. It was not on auto-pilot though. Had to re-correct course twice before getting to "C".
  20. Akula971

Advanced AA skill is totally redundant

I've found a better cruiser for AA defence than the Yubari, the Murmansk. Stronk Russian Ship (well ex-US).
  21. Akula971

Advanced AA skill is totally redundant

I have the Yubari and the advanced AA skill on the captain. I notice no difference with the advanced AA skill. In fact I'd go so far to say that the Yubari has been nerfed in a recent update. A typical battle before would see 6-18 aircraft shot down. Now I'm lucky to get 3. It certainly does not affect their aim, as my Yubari seems to be a priority target for TBs. I simply cannot avoid a manual drop, lease two manual drops either side. Not a happy bunny.
  22. An interesting topic and thread. When I joined the OBT, I found that there was two very distinct CV players, those who auto dropped, and in my DD, they could be avoided, and the manual drop people, who could drop a full spread into my side, with little chance to react, and the clever ones who would drop two strikes at angles so no matter which way you turned you got hit. So I thought that I might try the CV class and got my first IJN CV, played a few games in co-op to get the hang of things, watched a few Youtube videos and off I went. For me (and my obvious lack of skill and understanding), playing the IJN CV was frustrating. I came up against US CVs that just seemed to carry nothing but fighters, and in some games, no matter where I went with my planes, they often didn't return. Getting them to drop from where I wanted them to drop was like herding rabid squirrels. I gave up with CV class because of this. I mustn't have the reactions and understanding needed in getting a good drop. I was often sunk by planes who seemed to drop in less than a ships length. If you liken it to WoT, I feel that the entry level IJN is like the entry level german arty, bloody terrible. But when you get to the Grille/Hummel, a good player can do wonders. I must admit I do enjoy this game, and have not played WoT or Warthunder since getting into the OBT. That might change if Fallout 4 is released soon. It would be nice if it was easy to find the patch notes. Even submitting a bug report is right pain in the behind. Just my two pence worth..........

What RN ships would you like to see?

I love world war one ships of the Royal Navy, so I'd like to see HMS Kent, HMS Newcastle, HMS Iron Duke, HMS Amazon and HMS Lion HMS Dreadnought as a premium low tier battleship,

Game no longer fun to play.

No not those numbers. There is a 1,2,3,4, etc along the horizontal line that is not part of the game.

What is the mod you are using to give numbers on the aiming graticule?
