I'd pay for a WW2 Tribal class destroyer. But I'd really love a WWI Tribal, HMS Amazon or Mohawk. Just modify the Umikaze model, and give it a faster torpedo reload to compensate for its single tubes.

Idea. When you start a game, then allow a player in a cruiser to guard/escort a Battleship/Carrier. He selects the Battleship/Carrier in the list and selects "escort" Only one to two escorts per BB/CV. If this is done then the cruiser and Battleship/Carrier get a slight AA advantage (rof, range), and the cruiser gets a slight cammo benefit, Even a temporary captain skill whilst both are alive. Just may promote team play?

USS Arkansas Beta - a poisoned gift

I upgraded with the firing range module, accuracy module, rudder shift time, and play it as a sneaky BB. I look for cover and never lead the pack, pop out and always fire AP (unless DD). It can be quite fun, more fun than the Warspite (for me). Plunging fire when I can, lots of citadel hits on poor cruisers. It likes to be with other BBs who tackle the out of range targets. Not a bad gift, there are worse ships.

A bit worried about the population

People are frustrated with a game that HAD huge potential, a game they don't WANT to give up on. We all play so many games in an effort to try and find a way to make this fun. By the time Wargaming wake up, listen to the player base who are trying to give feedback, it will be too late, we'll be gone. Fallout 4 awaits. You know something? After a frustrating game of WoWs, I play Fallout New Vegas to RELAX!

A bit worried about the population

The game was great in CBT, good quality players, very good matches. But now I can get defeats all day long, every day. Kill 2 - 3 enemy every match, top 3 on the score board, and it does not make any difference when the teams you get at weekends, and early evenings are terrible, just terrible. It is better in the mornings and very late at night, but I have to work, and need to sleep, so its difficult for me to play then. Typical figures I see are 27K on EU server. What would I do to make the numbers skyrocket? Easy.....For a better game play experience:- 1. Fix the match making. Stop fail divisions taking part in matches they don't belong in. Make the divisions allowable for the same tier only. They ruin and demoralise the team. 2. Fix the match making. Tier 9 vessels with tier 7? yeah that is lots of fun. +-1 match making spread will improve that. 3. Fix the match making. Try to make the teams even in terms of ship variety. And that my friends would produce more balanced games, so that players would enjoy playing, more. 4. Ensure the player has at least a 50% win rate in a vessel, before being allowed to purchase the next tier vessel. This would mean that some players might not reach the 50% mark, and would probably try a different class, and do better in it. One of my division mates was playing cruisers only, as he thought that was the most fun. But after being in my destroyer division, he now loves the Minikaze! At the moment we see people in ships they have no idea how to use. 5. When a new player starts playing the game. Make sure they know the controls. Put them through a training course, just like Half life did all those years ago, before they even enter a battle. and when they start playing destroyers as the branch from the first ship for example, another training course, concealment, torpedo aiming, and for the rest of the classes similar training. If they reach a basic level in the training sessions, give them a reward. If they do really well, a bigger reward and no limit to the number of times they could do it. Even "Silent Hunter II" had that feature, training scenarios to prepare you for battle. You had to sink a stationary ship, a slow moving ship traveling at an angle, and a fast moving tanker. Why can't WG do that? The steps I've mentioned if implemented would improve the QUALITY of play. Otherwise it will just be a game for a few ship fanatics, and hordes of zero income children. You could of course try these out on separate test server with invited players of all ages and abilities.

    St Louis needs to go

Got in a fight with one in my Atlanta. He was very good, he manage to take out my turrets one by one. My AP did bugger all, and HE even less. He won.

Patch 0.4.0.3 Test Ships Reveal (All 7)

They probably noticed how well the Murmansk sold, and decided that a US premium would sell well too. March of the clones, just like in WoT.

    The penny has finally dropped.....

Four more games, all losses. Usual stuff, one of the last standing, this time 20+ aircraft kills and a cruiser kill in Yubari. Enemy carrier players wiped our team out whilst our carriers achieved nothing of note. I used to enjoy this game. But am seriously just going to quit until the next major patch. After today I was sorely tempted to rage uninstall. How has a great game pre patch 0.4 turned into such a mess? Is this going to be another WoWP? Going to do house work now, vacuuming, ironing, cleaning, so much MORE fooking fun than this!!!

Patch 0.4.0.3 Test Ships Reveal (All 7)

I've read somewhere they are premiums. Judging by the lack of module upgrades it so too. Apart from the Mikasa they are just clones of existing ships. Let the cash roll in!

    The penny has finally dropped.....

Today I've had no work and as a result I've played WoWs. Today. I've had 2 victories (walkovers), 4 draws and about 20+defeats. In each game my little DD has killed 2-4 enemy every time. But when the game is only at 5 minutes and half your team is sunk (usually the one man navies in Phoenix, or Omahas who race into battle to die), there is something wrong. This is not just bad luck, this is my opinion is a broken game design. A game of this nature where team work really is key, but allows for players with little ability or knowledge of the game to progress will not produce balanced results. One would expect a 50-50 win loose scenario in most matches with equal ability players, which we don't have. Is it beyond them to design a game that is enjoyable for all abilities? I can foresee me ditching this, as WoT was. And no I'm not a bad player (WoT 55%), was 60% in this game until the donkeys flooded in, now 50% and plummeting.

    The penny has finally dropped.....

Play to have fun? I really take these comments with a very large pinch of salt. Of course that is everyone's intention, but were is the fun in getting donkey team over and over again? That is not fun that is masochism. WoWs (as WoT is) is designed for you to grind ships, and spend money on captain transfers, consumables, and premium ships. Inherent in its design is the factor that the game play will be too random, so bad that you need the next tier ship to beat the tier you are in, and so on and so on. Until you reach tier ten, where the costs of battle can be that you make a regular credit loss. If they had wanted to have made a game where the games are actually fun, where you are up against players of similar abilities, then they could have quite easily by just adding a filter that excluded <50%WR from your next game. Might have to wait longer for a game. But that would mean that we'd be potentially all sailing tier 2-5 vessels as there would be no need to progress, no need to spend cash. As in WoT, progression to the next tier is not dependent upon ability to use the vehicle you are in. This because it would exclude far to many players, who would tire of the game (no new goodies) and leave. As opposed to those who tire of the bad game play experience and leave. I personally have two alternatives with WoWS:- 1. Play the same ships over and over again, just trying to get all the captains skills, to give the ship a slight advantage over the crowd of grinders. 2. Give up, like I did on WoT, and look forward to Fallout 4. As I've said, the game needs to be fun. I find no fun in failure, or defeat, over and over again. Due to vast numbers of players not knowing or caring how to play. The game play in closed beta was far better and more enjoyable than this. Why was that? Was it because a large percentage of players were invited on merit, or bought their way in? Those that bought their way in had disposable income, and means to provide, which excluded the vast majority of school age players. This game will become just the same as World of Tanks. It is Wargaming after all.

    Minekaze torpedo choice

I started with the 10Km torps and I had to fire my fire spread narrow, dead on target, second spread if the target turns left, 3rd spread if he turns right. But some time the target changes course way before the torpedoes are even half way there. I much prefer the 6km torpedoes now. A bit riskier, but worth it.
  17. Akula971

    Stealth....?

After tier 5 you are obliged to change your tactics slightly. I tend to scout more, away from the crowd, and fire my torpedoes at range, looking for that isolated target. If a CV captain wants to hunt me down. OK it means that his attention is not on the bigger ships on my team. But you do get longer range guns or torpedoes. The worst thing that can happen to me is a CA captain who tags along. It is like having Peter Griffin in a clown costume, attracting attention.

    WoWs has become WoT

World of Warships has become World of Tanks. During closed beta I found the game play to be much better quality, one simply did not see the usual WoT 15-0, 15-2 matches. But now in open beta, teams are just annihilated so quickly, as the players have not mastered or don't care about the role that their vessel is supposed to do. We see destroyers rush to meet the enemy, and die (WoT suicide scouts), cruisers who don't protect the battleships from destroyers, and carriers that have no propellers, they never move even when destroyers are sighted heading their way (WoT arty). Playing at the weekend or early evenings is a no no. Its the usual rapid tier progression to get them hooked, and the usual dismal trash talk in chat. Why can they not provide a server for the premium accounts? I'd certainly be willing to pay a little more for a better gaming experience. It would reduce the number of useless players, probably not eliminate them though. My win rate has plummeted, which is not something I really care about, but it does reflect the fact that the gaming experience has changed, and not in a good way. I gave up on WoT really after two to three years, and now only play once a fortnight, and just two games if that. If WoWs continues like this. I really can't see the point of playing regularly, and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same way. I'm hoping the novelty will wear off, and the horde will go elsewhere, but I doubt it.

OOh I hate that, to have a fighter squadron hovering over me, very difficult to get away.

    Gremyashchy commander skills

The guns on this are fantastic. Ensure you have the "Main Battery Modification 2" module 10% to loading speed, 15% to aiming. Skills? I use the following as my Captain serves in the Murmansk too. (Communist ship make lots of credits) 1. Concealment and Acquisition...............Always nice to know when you are not spotted, it flashes green to let you know, you have broken contact (He can't see you anymore) 2. Aiming expert......+2.5 Degree/sec for the guns 3. Superintendent......Always nice to have extra smoke screens, sprint and repair. 4. Advanced fire training.....+20% range to all guns, even AA. Main guns go up from 11.9 to 14.28Km (great for setting fire to preoccupied cruisers and battleships. 5. Concealment expert. My next skill, only have 11 so far. This ship murders Japanese DDs, and some US ones. So Asakow, If I were you I'd go for advanced fire training.

    Abusers out of control

The game is in open beta (unfortunately) and I'm sure it has been identified as a bug that needs to be addressed. If it is not fixed in the next major patch, then that is an entirely different story.
  22. Akula971

    WoWs has become WoT

I think that a simple system whereby you have to have a particular win rate in a vessel before you could buy the next one, would focus their minds. Not an overall win rate just for the vessel you are in. If you have premium account it is one or two percentage points less, after all they need to sell things too. If after playing hundreds of games and a players win rate is still terrible, the should at least have a better captain with more skills that will help them to improve. At the end of the day, it is all about the playing experience. If its is awful, this game will be the haunt of hordes of potatoes that never spend a penny, cent or dollar. And it will die, which would be a great shame as it can be fantastic!

    Is anyone else playing less?

Playing about the same, but that is under review. I'm very disappointed that they have not addressed a fundamental issue in match making such as fail divisions. I mean just how difficult is to write code that does NOT allow a tier one ship to get into a tier four/five match? The quality of play and chat in CBT was by WoT standards quite high. But now in open beta, the trash talk in chat is terrible, and the game play quality has suffered too. Tomorrow is Saturday, shall I play WoWs or do my accounts? I'll have a few games late evening and thats that. I don't like how they have nerfed some premiums like the Yubari. I really feel cheated. It is my bad luck ship, no matter how well I play, its defeat after defeat in it. I must stop playing in it. I do fear that we will see, with the arrival of the Russian tech tree some bias as we see in WoT (making historically poor vehicles as good as historically good ones in the interest of "Balance") . In which case I'll stop grinding and just play the same ships over and over again. For this reason and the poor quality of game play in WoT I stopped playing it completely. And we already are seeing the cheat mods appearing.......sigh Once Fallout 4 appears, I'll be gone for months. I still play New Vegas a lot, more than WoWs
  24. Sorry to be pedantic but there is no daily double. Best I've seen is 1.5

    Yubari Buff

In open beta the Yubari, post nerf is a useless. It has a terrible torpedo arc that I think is bugged, as sometimes they will not fire even when "Green". Its two gun turrets may fire quickly, but are pretty ineffective. When you are up against a Phoenix or even a Saint Lou. You better run! but it can't outrun a Phoenix! It is a fragile ship that easily takes module damage. It is no use as a cruiser,or an AA escort. It can get so many games when there are no carriers, and in these you'd better stay well back behind your battleships, and pray no one focuses on you. It is quite simply a terrible premium, just like that other turd the Ishizuchi. Yes you can make a little more money. But compare it to the Russian premiums. The Gremmy and Murmansk. The latter is a vastly improved Omaha! Better AA, etc, etc. The Gremmy has good concealment , fast firing guns, and reasonable torpedo range. Both great premiums. There is only one premium worse than the Yubari, the Aurora. Do I feel cheated by Wargaming, because of its nerf? Hell yes!
