  1. There are more German ships down at tier 6. Buy a Gveny again, seal club T-22s, and the rest. I found less German ships at higher tiers.

Quick tip for Russian missions for Captain

That how I got my three Japanese kills in one game.

End Of WWII in Europe Marathon

The current scenario, the Rapture Rescue is full of Japanese ships, all your enemies are Japanese in that one. Took just one game to get three. Getting the German ones took a little longer, but there are plenty of them at tier 6. Got the final reward today. (He is Stalin look alike)
  4. Still playing it, and still loving it. Different tactics are required. Often not driving straight to the cap, but going into open water to find the prey, and most battleships have not learnt to not keep a constant course and speed. Taking out the enemies heavy hitters early in the game can be a real game changer. I also find that in theory there are other destroyers with similar concealment values, the vast majority of players are rushing up the tech tree, with no concealment expert skills or cammo, and can be spotted first. Cruisers can be targetted with guns, if distracted, but best not to reveal where you are, and head to cap other points. I've had games where I've been unspotted all game. Against a team of very good players? it can struggle, but heh, this is WoWS, and the chance of very good players being on one team, often? Nah, does not happen.

All it took was just one battle

Just take a break, avoid weekends, and school holidays, when little timmy is let loose, whilst mum entertains the milkman. When it gets too much just quit and uninstall. But remember that random chance, and imbeciles are part of life. I often take breaks of quite a few months at a time. There are so many other things you could do with your time, time you'll never get back.

    Number of active players

I stopped playing a few weeks back, got burnt out with the Duke of York missions, and could not stand the new levels of bad players appearing. I don't think I'll ever trust Wargaming as an honourable games company, they have pulled some pretty dirty tricks on the players since CBT. I got the three ship pack, the Yubari, the Sims, and the Gremy. They were great fun to play in CBT, but when OBT came about, Yubari's AA got nerfed into the ground. Its still pretty bad now. Although a skilled player can do well in her, but a skilled player can do well in most ships. Then they changed the game mechanics so that ships turned quicker, which dealt a blow to the Sims. The Gremy, although still good, is being made less relevant by new DD lines. Did we receive a chance to get our money back or even gold for ships like the Yubari? Na, they say, we had your money, spent it, drunk it all away. Screw you! Such a great tactic to keep players happy and staying, and if you criticise them on Facebook, they'll block you. The main issue now is the playerbase, and the fact that Wargaming are pandering to them, the lowest common denominator, removing so many aspects of skill, that it will be just another run around shoot the target game, no better than a mobile game. That same playerbase would not invest any time or loyalty to the game, just part of the churn. Sometimes the forums are more entertaining than the game.

WTF is going on with this game?!

Thing is, it used to be a good game, it was really good in CBT, got a little worse with new players during OBT, but still playable. Numbers did not increase much, so they added automatic detection perk, as too many noobs were not taking the skill, and getting torped, and so it began, they listened to the player base, and each time, removed a little skill requirement. The numbers are up now, with the steam release, but the game is fast becoming the usual free for all, no incentive to work as a team, its the mindless grind up to tier X. It does not matter if you win or lose, all that matters is XP, getting the next ship. Thing is most potato players don't spend much on the game if anything. You see them, no flags, no cammo, and often no consumables, as they cost credits, and credits must be saved for the purchase of the next upgrade or ship. The question is, how long will the steam influx stay? How many players are they losing vs the newcomers? What is the churn ratio? Mind you when you see some of the brain dead trolling comments on these forums, you realise that we are dealing with immature minds incapable of reasoned rational thought. Exactly the players wargaming want.

Changes on HMS Cossac and Asashio

Lower muzzle velocity means a smaller charge, means less wear on the gun, means less time in port being overhauled. If they modelled the Soviet guns in game the accuracy, and velocity would drop very quickly over time. People don't need O/P ships in game, they might want them, but what we don't want is a famous ship crippled to some very odd form of combat because the dev team can't think straight. A premium ship is sold for real cash, its a product, it should be enticing to the consumer so they want to buy it. But no Wargaming will make famous ships "odd". When I see what they are planning with these 3 new destroyers it really makes me think what are they getting high on? It is all arse backwards, do the model, then think of what gimmick it needs to sell, and not be O/P or U/P. Instead it should be, how is game balance at this tier? No one playing enough of this class or that class, then lets introduce a premium ship to rebalance the "eco-system" at that tier. I have not played now for 2 weeks, still follow Flamu, and Flambass on Youtube, but no desire to play. Thanks Wargaming!

Changes on HMS Cossac and Asashio

There is a lot more to a ship than just comparing technicalities, things that are not represented or modelled in the game. You mention the German DD guns? The mounts were much heavier than RN ones, and with a shorter bow, gave the German ships terrible sea keeping, meaning that in some sea states the gun positions would be awash and hardly useable. In that situation have "better" guns or heavier shot, means jack shieit if you can man them, or fire effectively.
  10. Clan wars reward ship eh? So a big screw you to all your loyal players since OBT, and CBT. Some of us have actual lives and responsibilities, and can't commit to such things. But what an interesting choice of a reward ship? Don't you think? Of all the Worlds Navies with actual REAL naval traditions, and achievements, they choose a fantasy ship, never completed, from a nation whose sailing achievements comes second to the Swiss. (Even Swiss win America's cup in 2003). Why the hell a Russian ship? Oh yeah its Russian game developer in Saint Petersburg. The game started off well, and has just declined in quality since CBT.

Changes on HMS Cossac and Asashio

I was looking forward to the Cossack, but they really don't seem to have a clue do they? A very famous RN ship, how can we show her up? belittle its memory? Meanwhile "Legendary" paper ship, Stalingrad is going to be clan wars reward. If you've seen the video on Youtube, and the style of presentation, you'll understand why they do what they do. I would mention certain substances that people can abuse, but these chaps do not inspire confidence or competence. Btw How is GZ coming along? How long has it been?

    Has anyone else noticed??

I used to play mid mornings, early afternoons, and very late nights. My reasoning was that the school kids would be either at school or going to bed. Times to avoid were late afternoons, early evenings, late Friday nights. Now the games have in the recent past been bad no matter the time of day. I've tried to work out what demographic group would be playing then, but I can't work it out. I'm still not playing.
  13. Isn't it about time that the World of Warship development team introduced some sort of long service awards system? You know for all those people that have stuck with you through thick and thin. The Alpha testers, weekend testers, the beta testers. Those that have long continuous service since CBT, and OBT Those that have played a set number of games, 1K, 2K,3K,4K, 5K and above. Just a little thank you from Wargaming to us, the players and payers for providing you with your daily bread. (And putting up with your....edited :) You could even combine them with other factors. For example:- Congratulations, you've reached 5K games, achieved +50 Karma, you get........ Congratulations you've been with us for 2 years now, you get a flag that gives you either +X% credits, or -X% repair cost. Just remember Wargaming, that as well as attracting new players, you need to keep the ones you have ;)

    Noobs will kill this game!

This weekend gone was the first weekend in ages that I didn't play WoWS. I just could not face playing with the brain dead, the stupid, the morons, and the angry idiots who get upset if I don't follow their orders. I undertook several other tasks that proved less frustrating, and provided more satisfaction. I cleaned the kitchen top to bottom, got the Windex out and cleaned all the windows. When I needed a break I fired up Subnautica, later I put a pin wash on a Matchbox 1/76 scale T34/76, all less frustrating and much more satisfying than playing WoWS at the weekend. Thing is, I think I've lost my "gaming addiction", so have no wish at the moment to play. The very thought of completing a campaign for some meaningless reward ship (DoY) or camouflage really, and I do mean this, fills me with dread. No point. There are more satisfying things in this life to spend my time and money on. I view the game developers, and their marketing cohorts in the EU as barely competent. To produce such broken mechanics, unbalanced ship lines is beyond comprehension. A few examples: The AP only of the Royal Navy, The HE spam of RN BBs, the prolification of stupid cammo schemes, not to mentions the pedos line of Japanese cartoon "specials" The beer can on the Roma (wtf seriously?) . Why German ships have such long range secondaries? The whole stupidity of firing from smoke, yeah that never happened, smoke was used to hide a withdrawal or avoid getting hit. The French go faster ships LOL, the well catered for Soviet ships (Oh please). Graf Zeppelin? Roflmao! Radar & Hydro that sees through islands, RPF, and lets not forget the year of the carrier! and to put the cherry on top of this, Where do we get to find out what is happening with the games future? A forum thread, where people post what they have found from other sites, & regions. As Wargaming EU won't or can't be bothered to keep the community informed themselves. Noobs and newbies will not kill the game off. Wargaming are doing a great job themselves.
  15. Akula971

Atago, Tirpitz, Roma or some other?

I'd strongly advise against buying a tier 8 premium. For the following reasons:- You really have not played enough battles yet to see a trend of where you excel in a particular class. If any thing you are most successful in Soviet destroyers. So perhaps a Leningrad? I'd advise against buying a battleship, you are really not doing enough damage for the class. Ask yourself why do you want a premium ship? Is it to earn credits? or train a captain? For that you need to decide what nations lines you are progressing first. The Italian Roma is not much use as a captain trainer as there is not a full Italian line yet. The Tirpitz is the WoWS equivalent of the Lowe, newbies buy them and don't do well in them. A ship is only overpowered in the right hands, and the most O/P ships are not for sale. They won't make you a good player. I'd save your money for now and play a few more ship lines and progress further, in which case premium time might be a better option.

    Service awards and rewards

Nearly every major consumer business offers loyalty programs in order to keep customers coming back, Wargaming? Yeah you can grind, grind, grind, and be thankful for the small reward you get. As to rare ships? yeah most are available in paid for crates, the exception being the Iwaki Alpha, and Arkansas beta. I just see a company that is concentrating on taking.
  17. Akula971

    Service awards and rewards

its not only about free stuff, its about recognition for all the hours, all games that you've played, Even now they could say do 1K games, get some sort of reward other than a useless medal or equally useless flag. It would reward the long term players and give the new players another goal to aim for. How many people have you seen in a tier 4,5,6 or 7 ship with NO cammo on it, NO signals, they must have played hundreds of games to get there, and probably badly, so give them a permanent cammo for a ship after so many games, perhaps not with all the positives a premium permanent cammo gives. Give them a permanent signal, that provides a small benefit, that says thank you for playing hundreds of games, we APPRECIATE your loyalty and dedication. Because the way the game is now sucks! there is no incentive for new players to improve or stay. You could even phase the rewards out as you go up the tiers, so that new players hang onto lower tier ships, get 250 games in your Kuma, free special cammo, free special flag for that ship with small benefit. They might actually learn something. It does not stop them progressing at all. Same for the old hands. I have a CBT flag. Benefit ? None. Yes I got a BB I hardly play. But I did not stop playing there and then, I continued playing, bought premiums, bought premium time, put far too many hours into it. Had some fun, and a lot, an awful lot of frustration. If wargaming don't appreciate their loyal customers and players, then they don't deserve to have them. The introduction of the game on steam will provide a blip in figures for how long? I'm off to clean the kitchen work tops, more satisfaction than playing WoWs!!!

    My review of this game

Just forget the grind, why grind? There are plenty of good ships in all nations at all tiers. The game instils a mentality that makes people think they must grind for something better? something more fun? ~I don't think so. What is so great about tier X? where even when you win, you'll loose credits unless you have many kills. I ground out the Japanese DD line, had heaps of fun in the Kagero (pre torpedo nerfs), and the Shima? Boring, boring, boring. Fire salvo of torpedoes, wait an eternity to reload, try to cap, radar, hydro, gunboats, fook that, back down to tiers 5,6,7. Fun!!! You've seen the adverts for WoT, where the narrator says "never played world of tanks? you're wasting your life" oh the sweet irony of wargaming saying that, games where you have to spend endless hours of your life (wasted) to get to some mythical utopia of tier X, infested with <50% potatoes who can brag to their mates in the playground that they've got to tier X. The grind is easy at lower tiers to get you invested in the game, so you'll stick around, and hopefully spend cash. Because you'll need to when you're running your 50% captain against the man in his Belfast, Kamikaze R, with 19 point captains. The O/P makes a valid point about the game, it lacks variety of game play, its just grind, grind on the same maps over and over again, with hordes of people who don't know or care what they are doing. Just how entertaining or painful was the Duke of York campaign.? Reward? a meh ship.

    My review of this game

Although you may have some points, those points would be better received with suggestions. It is always good to see how the game is perceived from a newcomers point of view. The game s after all a commercial enterprise, that pays the workers their money to buy food, clothing and shelter, as well as turning a profit for its owners and investors. The developers do see to have trouble with premium ships, some are classed as overpowered (in the right hands), others are underpowered. Premium vehicles were designed to create credits, train crews, etc. Supposedly no better than a silver ship, but different. The thing is, you don't have to grind. The grind is designed to part you with your money. If you enjoy playing a particular ship or tier, then do that, get a well trained captain in it, and club all the grinders!! I play more games in a tier 5 Kamikaze with a 19 point captain than any other ship. Why? Because its fun! and that is why I play games to have fun. Higher tier games are slow boring and unforgiving for me, so I don't bother.

    testing

As an experienced DD player, I suggest the following, Your duties as a destroyer captain are as follows:- 1. Play for the objective, that is to cap, scout, and sink enemy vessels. Capping is your primary responsibility, as is staying alive. If you are attempting to cap, and the enemy destroyers are superior to you in either concealment or firepower, then care should be taken, and retreat as a means of survival considered. Also if the enemy has superior support, don't risk it, they'll know where you are (cap circle, hunt you and destroy you). In that case scout, fire torpedoes at targets of opportunity, or as area denial. 2. Stay alive. Your continued existence makes you a bigger threat, the more the game progresses. 3. Learn your concealment distances for your destroyers off by heart, learn your turning circles too. Its nice to get close, its nicer not to be spotted. So make that turn sooner rather than later. 4. Don't fire your guns if attempting to cap, your concealment disappears to max gun range, exception being from smoke or if the enemy is very low HP. 5. Don't sit in smoke when you know enemy destroyers or cruisers armed with torpedoes are in close proximity, smoke attracts torpedoes. Use your smoke to disengage or engage battleships when you know there are likely not to be torpedoes heading your way. 6. It is acceptable to skirt around a cap to take enemy capping destroyers by surprise, or by firing torpedoes at their unsuspecting support, as they expect the capping DD to spot any incoming torpedoes. 7. If you are with another DD, after your ship has fired its torpedoes, turn away!, clear the way for them to fire theirs! 8. If your torpedoes have caused flooding, and the ship has used its repair, try to get a fire on it, either with your guns or by highlighting it to your team as a priority target. At the beginning of a game, you should try to cap, destroyers that don't even try are worthless, the exceptions noted above. Cowardice is not to be tolerated. As a DD captain you balance courage with pragmatism.

    Noobs will kill this game!

Played two games today. Game 1. had three DDs on shards. Akazuki closest to lower left cap (A) decides at the start of the game to go to C cap, ignoring B (uncapped) on the way. I took C, and went to get sunk at B, no support as BBs had hardly moved from start point, cruisers were barrelling to C, which was already taken. Akazuki goes through C and comes out on the far side of the islands, Nothing to shoot at. He eventually finds late r a lone fuso, sends three volleys of torps on a nearly stationary ship and misses. Decides to smoke to shoot Fuso, smokes up, but then can't see the target. Games ends. This wazzack has progressed up the IJN DD line and leant what? Game 2. Roflestomped a team 15-1. Good balanced fair gameplay eh Wargaming? Proud of yourself? (Probably, after looking at the cash pile!)

    Noobs will kill this game!

"Everyone have the right to play and have fun" So they do, but "rights" come with responsibilities. It is the "noobs" responsibility to learn how the game works, otherwise its akin to turning up dressed for a water polo game, but you're playing Rugby League. Not being equipped, or knowing the rules means you're a liability to your team. You've just spoilt the game for the rest of the team by being an idiot. Now ensure that half the team are similarly not knowing how the game is played or suitably equipped, and the game becomes pointless, which it is fast becoming. Wargaming love the poor idiots, they will no doubt think that if they spend money, they too can become the top scorer they have seen in game or on Youtube, not realising that they have an over powered premium ship with a 19 skill captain, and have studied the game mechanics, know the ships strength and weaknesses, together with playing the objective. But the noob will progress up the tiers, in state of constant failure <50%WR, until they reach tier X, and don't enjoy it, because they never learnt to play. Next step for them is to appear on the forums complaining that everything needs to be changed so that the way they play can succeed. Never gets old does it? But it is tiring.

    Noobs will kill this game!

I find I play less and less. It is becoming harder to have actual fun, which is what games are supposed to be? right? It has become hard work, not fun play. Oh for the days of CBT. I just close the game, and think, yes, the shower screen needs cleaning. Cleaning the shower screen will give more satisfaction than playing this game. Sad times.

    Karma - Rewards and Punishments

There are so many things wrong with this game, and so many ways to improve it. Its becoming a freak show, you pay almost nothing to view them, you're disappointed when you do see them, and don't care about it when you leave. The fact that the RU server gets rewards, but EU, NA, don't? WTF is going on there? Is it another case of WG EU being speshul? I find that playing in the mornings, afternoon, or early evening is a lottery, and you don't have a ticket. The only good games are quite late at night, after 2230. We see stupid badges, emblems , whatever, but no new maps, no code changes to encourage team play, and the cherry on top of this turd, is a coded system of masturbation, otherwise known as karma. Its for your pleasure only. Here is an idea, play badly, score low damage, get bad karma reports and you as a captain get an on screen report telling you to improve. Play consistently well, get good karma, get rewards. But in todays snowflake culture, everyone gets a reward for taking part. I despair.
  25. Akula971

    HMS Cossack

Well it has been panned in all the YouTube reviews so far. So they will have to do something to improve it, or sales are going to be abysmal. We already have Gallant as a trainer, so what would be the point of parting with cash for a badly represented (by Wargaming) ship. She needs to be pre-refit 4 dual mounts, and better rudder shift, turning circle. Somehow I don't think they will listen.
