Just had the worst game ever, a complete stomp, only two of us in DDs tried to cap, got wiped out by a Black, the rest just ran to the right hand side of the map, were we had one cap, then they were forced away, all crowded together away from the cap, the whole game over in a few minutes, mostly tier tens. How did they get there? without learning the game? Even the enemy team said WTF guys? (Anon clan) I just uninstalled the game, and will use the disk space for something else. I'll re-install in September or when the RN DD line appears. Last weekend was just awful. I don't mind losing if it is a hard fought game. That is enjoyable, a challenge. But when you just see the team run away, do [edited] moves or just melt away in minutes then it is WoT all over again. No thanks!

She has had her concealment improved and her torpedo range increased. Play her as a big destroyer.

I have both, always enjoy the LoYang more. People expect so much from the Kidd, but I enjoy the LoYang more, and I play to enjoy myself.

I'm beginning to think it is actually a bit O/P. When I get in close to a DD, the fire power just wrecks them, it gives me the same feeling as I get in my Belfast, in so much as you, the enemy is finished, you are not going to survive this! Smoking up for them is now not the safety scheme it was, the Haida will just charge them down, hydro running, then blam, blam, panic, its over, for them. The typical DD tactic of scouting way out in front of your support, in effect with little support is now an effective death sentence if you meet this ship alone. Perhaps some classes of DD will now have to stay closer to their cruisers and battleships for support, which just might promote a little bit more team play? Until then a lot of newbies and noobs are not going to be happy.

I'm having a hoot in mine. These are my tactics. 1. Approach cap point using RPF to get guns and torps pointing in the right direction. 2.Skirt cap outer edge, even stop and spot to see what enemy support vessels are inbound. If lots of cruisers coming then go to step 4. 3.You'll spot the enemy DD first usually, in which case they will either panic and smoke up or flee. If smoked up, use RPF to send your torps in, switch on hydro, and close to attack. If they don't have support open fire, the cap is yours. 4.If the enemy DD does have support coming in, then if he smokes up when spotted, then close in a bit, torp using RPF, and leave to find a safe distance to smoke up and rain down IFHE on incoming cruisers, when smoke is almost done, turn away and use your last few puffs to cover your escape. You don't need to advance at low speed to use the smoke I often just sit stationart or move back and forth.. But remember that reverse is faster than 1/4 ahead, you'll exit your smoke. or Screen your cruisers and battleships, to hunt down and spot any stalking enemy DDs. Make their job so much more difficult that they move away to easier targets. In higher tiers, spot, spot, and spot.

Bought her. Had a string of 6 lucky wins. I put a 19 point captain in it, with CE, RPF, BFT,SSE, SI, and she makes for quite the DD hunter. More fun than I thought it would be, especially running away with smoke covering my arse. Caught quite a few Sims sitting in smoke thinking they are safe. Makes an interesting duo when teamed with a Belfast. Concealment is great! Edit: I've caught quite a few DDs by surprise, by the time they notice me and react, I can take a lot of their HP off. The guns seem to be very accurate. It has the health, concealment and firepower to be a good cap contester. I must temper my enthusiasm with the fact it is Sunday night and the servers are full of weekend players.

"Please note: Azur Lane Commanders can be used on any ship, not necessarily on the ships of the same name " Should that read by retraining or spending gold? or do they actually just slot into any ship of their line without retraining?

Warspite Build (Equipment, Commander & Signals)
Akula971 replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
The method I use to choose skills and modules is this:- Pencil and paper Mark down each ship you play and each game mark what caused maximum damage to you. Adjust build and skills accordingly. Survival is everything. The longer you are in game, the shots you can get off. Since the grand old lady is a premium, you should be training captains up in her, or using Jack or Bertram Dunkirk, gaining excess commander XP. But I do find the Dunkirk brothers are best in cruisers or destroyers. -
If the "team" knows what to do and where to be, then it should be easy. However most teams cannot learn. Even when the radio announces, kill these targets in the allotted time, the game high lights the targets on the map and on the screen, with a countdown clock as to how much time is left to kill them, and yet the team, or what is left fires at anything else. The players are morons. I don't believe it is difficult. It is only difficult because the ability of the player to understand and follow simple instructions is lacking. I honestly don't think they try to win, its easier just to [edited] about and hope some one will carry them. Which seems to be the modus operandi in normal gameplay. It is after all a repeatable battle, a repetitive task, that they can't do the usual plan, action, analyse.

They did tonight. I was in a Scharnhorst, low HP, trying to get repaired, and the three DDs that charge the repair station, had seen me, commenced firing, and then when I was in the circle, not detected, no line of sight, they continued to pour fire over the island onto me at my NEW undetected position. I've been shot at in the Belfast's smoke screen too, by distant BBs. So I'm calling [edited] on this AI "improvement" Its actually put me off the game tonight. So no more of these operations for me thank you very much. Lucky to get a win with 2-3 stars.

I watched the bot destroyers after having being sunk, and I noticed a higher rate of fire, much more accurate, and what appeared to be a really good fire chance. But what really pissed me off was the fact that they spawned right next to me, whilst I was transiting. At first I thought great! easy kills in my Belfast. I was torn to shreds, with multiple fires, whilst my IFHE didn't seem to upset them, damage them or get them to change behaviour. Its terminator thinking. They don't care about survival as a player would, they just keep coming. Never had more than 3 stars this session. Teams can't seem to work out what the objectives are or don't care, or they bring an unsuitable ship in, one that cannot either take or deal damage. Best results so far are in the Belfast and Scharnhorst. Having a good CV on the team is as always a game changer. I'm sure its do-able with team members who know were to be and what to do.

Those 150mm guns weighed a lot more than other guns. I've read reports of German captains lamenting them, as they caused the ship to be bow heavy, which is not good as far as sea keeping is concerned, and combined with a shorter bow, restricted their use in moderate and heavy seas. A ship that is bow heavy will dig in to the sea, causing excess drag, and no amount of extra HP will solve that. The Z-39s displacement,3600 tons (weight of water displaced) was almost twice as much as the Akatsuki (2080 tons). So the Z-39 is not so nimble in comparison. As to how WG represent her? Whims and dreams.

One battle off completion, not too difficult with a 19 point captain in the Kamikaze......giggle. Edit: Just got it on big race, Kraken too. Feel so dirty, nice.

Well I have to say I've taken a shine to the Z-39. With one of the new commanders in it, it is a fun ship to play. edit:Z-39

I played in the standard Tachibana yesterday. Not so many seals, but lots of seal clubbers on both sides. It was a hoot!

The logical conclusion for these people is just a dopamine pump to their brain, and a button to activate it.

Lets revisit the blullcrap that is: "WG cant/wont change premiums" featuring: Danks.
Akula971 replied to havaduck's topic in General Discussion
From a business viewpoint, it is bad practice to piss your customers off. By changing either the game mechanics or the feature and attributes of a premium, you will annoy your customers. Thing is, you don't matter. There is a small percentage of players who inhabit the forums and play regularly. The vast majority of players are people who play for a while, spend some money, and later move on to a different game. That is churn, the turnover of players. They continually change the game, simply to keep people interested, and hopefully buying. If you don't like it, then invest your money in another form of entertainment. Claus can rant as much as he likes, but he misses the reality of the situation. He wishes for a situation where there is no change to the game, unless he benefits, the game changes to stay relevant and he will have to adapt or leave. He spent his money, had his fun with his premium tank, and now its over, the curtain has closed, the film has ended. He didn't own the rights to the film or the show. He is sitting in an empty theatre ranting at a blank screen. The same applies to me. If all my premiums were nerfed, I'd be very annoyed (Poor Yubari). And what WG have to do is balance that, with something to keep people interested. Never forget that these decisions are made from a business viewpoint. Some of these decisions have in the past not worked out well in either WoT or WoWs, and there are many examples to prove the point. If they are massively unpopular they will be changed or not implemented at all.- 149 replies

Its quite easy to keep track of the points, time and mini map whilst playing. Your brain can handle this. Besides the number of games that go full time are few and far between.

Super Containers Premium ships distribution
Akula971 replied to spcapten's topic in General Discussion
Never ever had a ship from an in game super container. I've had boat loads (pun intended) from the Santa ones and store bought ones, -
So you have the code to increase and decrease the size of the map? But somehow can't use what is known to do the same for the in game interface? I suspect that there is some manager in wargaming saying," but the vast majority of players, play on potato PC", not realising that perhaps they would upgrade IF there was reason to! Same manager not realising that eye candy attracts new players!

Just thinned the fleet down, well down to 107. Love them all. So yes something similar to what the RU sever has would be nice. But with the EU offices past record, I'm not holding my breath.

Why players not are climbing the ranks in Ranked as expected
Akula971 replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
You missed one off your list. It is boring and tedious. I tried it again this season, just could not face endless boring games that bring nothing but frustration. The promotion through ranks is not truly based upon ability or performance. It is quite easy to get carried up the ranks, if you play enough battles.Perhaps not to rank 1, but quite high all the same. For a really balanced rank equation, then the top three damage/xp dealers on the winning team advance, the rest don't advance, and on the losing team the top thee damage/xp dealers keep their rank, the others lose it. No more carrying dead weight. -
Its nice to have a bit of variety in the game, and for me, it provides it. When I'm in a BB and think it may be in front of me, I'll change speed, and course often. When I play it, it can spot caps (Low detection range), and scout out flanks. Yes I can fire off a shed load of torps and flood an area that battleships are in, but I can do the same in my Shima, sit back with 20Km torps and saturate a cap with torps. Low skill? hell yes. But these things are in game and meant to be used. You get no extra brownie points for going up against a heavily armoured opponent with a plastic tea spoon, dead is dead, You lost. If you think its bad, then some of us remember a certain other IJN DD that was removed from game, because it was broken. Skill in this game is not the only factor that decides victory, as so many players have very low skills, such as myself, old, arthritic fingers coupled with impaired vision (cataracts), mean we oldies sometimes need a ship like the Asashio. We pay and play to have fun. Wargaming make money, the game continues.

I got the Prinz E in a Santa box. Had a terrible time in it, gave up on it. Now its got a heal! But its not enough to make it fun to play. With the heal I can last longer, get a dreadnought in it.But can it carry, make a great impact on the enemy team? Nope. Not at all. I would say its good a captain trainer, for when you transfer a captain, but in all honesty I'd rather use the Graf Spee or Scharnhorst for that. A good premium? No. It has few qualities that make it fun to play. Even if they gave it Hydro AND defensive AA, it will still suck as a tier 8 cruiser. It belongs at tier 7. It simply has a very hard time doing damage to other cruisers or battleships.

Buyer's Remorse - Asashio edition **BUY HAREKAZE INSTEAD**
Akula971 replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
OP has a 70% WR in it, and yet has only a 39% WR in the Loyang? I respect his opinion (NOT). It is a good DD in the right hands. I have only a 60% WR in it. It can indirectly contest caps, with support it can out spot the enemy at 5.4Km range, forcing them to seek cover or move out of range. With a 19 point captain, equipped with CE and RPF, I can find and keep spotted enemy DDs. If they are low health, I'll enter into a gun fight no problem. Games typically have 4-5 BBs in them, so there is always something to shoot at. All in All, its fun to play. I paid my money and enjoy the experience. It may be useless in ranked, but so are so many other ships too. Hardly a valid argument. Discouraging team play? GTFO. On a server with multiple nationalities, ages, abilities, never going to work anyway. Not to long ago the folks on the forum where whinging about the BB heavy meta, BBs sitting way back, sniping, no pushing. Well here you are, an antidote to that. Now the BBs will need a cruiser, or DD to screen for them. But DDs and cruisers go off on their own? Well the BB will HAVE to follow, to support and be screened, or die alone. (we all die alone anyway). Should rename these boards from Forums to Whinging pages.
