What I really don't get is what kind of feedback was the one that made devs nerf her? From players? Like anyone will complain about Yuubari except a CV or a DD whic incidentally should be countered by a cruiser. From battle statistics? What happened? does Russian testers are gods on the Yuubari? because if they are I want to see then.

Well, scout planes can be shoot down, can be on cooldown. And the fact you were never surprised by a cruiser, well, right back at you: You could have only met tomatoes on cruisers until now. In any case, yeah, I agree, torps should be like pre 0.3.0. Because otherwise the IJN CA line will keep being inferior to the USN CA line. I just wanted to point out torps aren't THAT useless.

Well, for starters, there are islands and different spotting mechanics. If your enemy doesn't have intel about you but you do have then you can literally do the same kind of peek-a-boo a DD does by covering yourself behind an island. Forcing an engagement in your favor can work too if you find the oportunity. In any case, is a good player is who knows how to take advantage of an enemy's errors. In any case, what do you want the torps to be about? They are a powerful weapon on close distance and can actually be a deterrent for any ship to get close to a zone with a jap CA with enough cover and wit to make use off then effectively. That by itself is the torps doing a job.

The thing is, most people asking for nerfs and such are people that clearly have no desire to improve thenselves and get above their own limits. Of course, I did explain my points to people at the start of the CBT, there were tons of "Nerf this" and "OP that" posts and I went through every one of then explaining tips and how the game mechanics worked. But then you realize that those posters don't want to improve, don't want to find a solution for thenselves. They want the devs to provide then a solution. It's like all those invite code beggars on streams. They say to be desperate when they can simply work for a day or two on a part time job and get enough money to get into the game. So once you realize the problem lies on then the best you can do to counter their arguments is to shame then, break their prepotence about their own believes. How do you do that? Questioning the capacity of their judgement about the issue at hand using their stats. I'm fully aware that is not the best option but please, give us a break. I've only met 2 people that actually took my recomendations at heart and tried then. The rest just continue the whine and refuse to try improving thenselves.

But there is arming distance, very short but there is. In any case, if you got that close to a fish thrower without any means to retaliate effectively, yeah, you should be sunk either because you made a huge mistake or the enemy player outplayed you.

Let's just face it guys. It's not that we don't have an opinion or can't have it. It's just that we dunno how to have a proper debate in the internet. Having said that, it's not like you should enter in each one of the debates going on, because frankly, there will allways be people that will talk whatever stuff they want wether they know about it or not. Against that, in a normal world your best bet would be ignoring then. But the main problem is that we dunno how much their opinions are actually influencing the devs on how to shape the game.

Shokaku tier 8 IJN Carrier OP in current MM
OVanBruce replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
This thread makes me realize how shitty I'm playing CVs much I should improve my play on CVs. -
Just for those that maybe didn't notice, scout planes radius were buffed last patch. BBs radius was increased from 5km to 10km. CAs radius was also increased but I'm not sure of the new radius.

You know, sometimes, the moon covers the sun too.

Of course, if you charge straight at a BB on open seas your chances at torping stuff are small. Even so, you can deflect shells with angling too, few, but hey you can; You couldn't before. Where the torps are really useful is on those maps with lots of islands. And since they aren't your main and only weapon, like DDs, you can spam then more happily at places an enemy might appear or simply playing peek a boo. You need to know how to and where to move to make then a useful weapon. Well, I won't say I do it in all matches, but when the oportunity arises I use then to great efffect. Even Zao's torps are quite deadly, specially when you launch then at less than 5 kms since they have no way to avoid getting hit with at least 5 22k damage torps (I've seen a Yamato resisting 6 of then though)
-
You don't need to use the torps only for killing stuff in that way...
-
Not when a class becomes borderline useless the higher the tier. As I told you, everything goes downhill after Minekaze thanks to how easy is to spot and dodge the torps. People are not idiots anymore and know what to do. The result, in my case is that a match with 3 or 4 torps is a good match for me in my Fubuki, while it is a lackluster result in Minekaze. So once again, play the higher tiers and see how frustrating and boring can be to play a DD at those tiers.
-
And there lies your problem, you are judging a whole class from the best, if not borderline OP ship. I too am not a DD player, I mainly play cruisers, but Minekaze has lots of advantages: - Low tier so you end up seal clubbing the newbies. - Secondaries are very unefficient in this tier - There aren't many planes on the skies - You outrun anyone - Apart from the well known 3 double launchers with 50 secs reload time. 65 knots torps with enough range to stay concealed. Incidentally, I just got my record of kills last night, with Minekaze. All these advantages dissapear in higher tiers. And yeah, just as I thought, you have just started with Mutsuki. Try playing Hatsuharu and Fubuki against the enemies you get at those tiers.
-
Since Alpha we've allways had BB whiners and fanboys threads asking devs literally to crap on all other classes because "muh big guns and big boat". I'm so tired of having to deal with these kind of threads that I make little effort to explain my point. That's why I prefer to deliver it short and substantial, not my fault you still can't get it. In any case, don't worry. Each update is making BBs more and more powerful so you'll happily be able to mindlessly shoot stuff at other boats and have a good time with your big boat with big guns.
-
This kind of threads and some of its posters are the very reason why WG is turning this game into World of Battleships. The fanboyism and lack of insight on how to make a fun game for everyone is strong. I sincerely hope the current state of the game are then just derping around to balance and test stuff. Gotta wait until OBT but I have few hopes left.
-
Yep, not true. Can we get back to the game please? And to all people in the thread, can you stop throwing historical data when this game is and should loosely be based upon that?
-
Here, let me tell you in a simple way so you can get it. Right now, a DD is like a submarine. They are stealthly and they use torps. Now, what happens when a BB is in the open seas without scort? BTW, think stuff in terms of gameplay and not on realism. This is not a sim and a BB shouldn't be the top of the chain, otherwise no one would play any ther classes unless he's in love with the ships. Not gonna make an effort to explain further than this, since you are either a teen or a troll. Or a very inmature adult.
-
Well, yeah, the speed is certainly an issue from Hatsuharu to Kagerou.
-
Both Fubuki and Hatsuharu were 38-39 knots when finished but the structural weaknesses I told you about and the higher center of mass were problems that, when resolved addding ballast and reinforcing the hull, made the speed drop to 35 knots
-
Yeah, that's why I included ignorance.
-
So, there are people out there that think a BB should have advantage in open seas without an scort... I blame lack of inteligence, ignorance or both...
-
I suppose it is a matter of convenience for the Devs because otherwise, how can you fill the high tier japanese DD tree? There were only 4 distinct designs on japanese destroyer construction from Fubuki to the end of the war. - Fubuki Class - Kagerou Class - Shimakaze Class (single ship). - Akizuki class All the other designs (Asashio, Yuugumo, Shiratsuyu, etc) were derived from the first 2. So in the end, taking out Akizuki, for obvious reasons, how do you get 4 ships for the higher tiers?
-
You mean giving her 8 rapid fire 10 cm guns to whatever that is axis? No way.
-
I kinda want the Akizuki class in the game but it'd need to have great AA or something special for her in order to be fun to play. Also, I fear they'll be sh*t since this is WG we are talking about...
