    No, it just means that the faster speed doesn't compensate if we take into account the distance at which long range torps are spoted. Why am I playing DDs again? Ah yeah, to grind until Minekaze and have her as a credit farm. Not gonna bother after her one bit.

    Afaik no one in the russian forums have written a single letter against that abomination. So if the russian average Ivan says nothing your point is invalid. BTW, I'm being sarcastic since I'm bitter about this whole Red Fleet before anything policy. In any case, We've been through this repeatedly and each one of the threads got purg... vuked so just leave it at that.

  9. I'd say that in the hands of an skilled player a Zao is as good as a Des Moines. But the way to play both ships is fundamentally different. Its simply more difficult to use Zao's adavantages than the Des Moines'. It wouldn't hurt if Zao had its speed buffed to IJN 35 knts standard (and they certainly can, it's a paper ship) and its torps to have 10 kms range. If they increase its rate of fire and/or increase the torp range more it would become much better than Des Moines or even too good. But that's just me. I dunno. I've got almost 1000 battles on cruisers. I fear that me playing Zao well has much more to do about my experience and ability compared to my enemies than the actual capabilities of the ship.

    I'd say full USN, IJN and Red Fleet tree before OBT. Some isolated branches for the Kriegsmarine and Royal Navy. Some premiums of all nations.

    Yeah, I miss the buzzing sound its guns produced when fired even if you were far away from her. Really a tribute to the biggest and most powerful guns ever mounted on a battleship.
  12. Man, are you comparing the armor model of the Alpha stage with what we have now after 0.3.1? It's maximum dispersion BTW but actual experience shows that Des Moines shells tend to stray much more from target than Zao's. Also, search me at battle, I'll sink you for sure.
  13. There are 2 caracteristics about the Zao that aren't reflected in her stats. 1) Can you tank and ricochet 406 mm shells from Montanas, Iowas and Nagatos even at 3 km from then? With Zao you can with proper angling. Zao is very tanky, and I mean, VERY tanky. You rarely get citadels even from BBs if you are careful with your aproaches. I play her as a brawler in straits and restricted zones since she can actually get close with minimal damage to deliver the torps. Combine that with the damage repair skill. 2) High accuracy guns. Her guns are probably the most accurate amongst all cruisers. You can reliably hit with good gunnery 8 or 9 shells per salvo at extreme range against BBs while dodging and with the way HE behaves you can quickly and safely burn down BBs. Your HEshells have an 18% chance of setting your foe on fire, the highest amongst all cruisers coupled with the highest damage too: 3800. I don't fear Des Moines in my Zao, since I sink then way more often than then at me. In any case, I have to recognize that playing the Zao require much more situational awarenes, guts, gunnery, strategy and planning than a Des Moines. Which brings the issue of how fun can a ship be and the Zao is not instant gratification as the Des Moines is.

  16. Yo no contaría tanto con ello. Con cada nueva actualización van tambien añadiendo cosas. Para los tiempos de carga te recomendaría que comprases un SSD. Es una de las cosas que tienen mejor relación precio-mejora actualmente.

  19. Todo el mundo que tiene una maquina que no sea potente esta teniendo problemas de rendimiento despues del parche 0.3.1. Eso y además de que hay problemas tambien de parte del servidor pues esta creando esa situación. Lo que puedes hacer es ir jugando como puedas y esperarte a que vayan optimizando el juego con cada actualización o ponerle algo de dinero a tu PC

  22. This came to my mind recently and may be one of the reasons why CVs are getting nerfed in the last patches. Doesn't work on DDs though. For getting results you obviously need to be good playing the class you are using BUT there are classes that yield better results from the same level of skill and practice than others, I think we can agree on that. In order those would be, from better to worse results: Carriers: You can easily attack any part of the map, any class in the game and can stay alive the longest of all classes. A good CV player can consistently get 3 or more kills on each match he participates (if he's using IJN CVs) Battleships: Less survivability but same damage potential. It can kill any class and can withstand any class if properly used. Still, an error leaves you open and you could end taken out earlier. Destroyer: This is a bit varied bettwen IJN and USN but you can basically stay alive a long time if you are prudent but if the oportunities doesn't present and the enemy team has halve a brain you could end up doing nothing. Cruiser: Basically, everything can see you and you can be taken out quite easily. Nevertheless, good gunnery and some luck can help you get damage and survive but it doesn't fully depend on you. Destroyers and cruisers are kinda in the same spot right now but a DDs stealth and smokescreen can take him out from the direst of situations but a CA cauht in a bad spot will be dead no matter how good you are. What do you think?

    0.3.1 - An overview of the upcoming patch

    Des Moines is already fragile, her large healthpool doesn't matter much when she receives 5k hits easily and can be pen or citadeled much more than her predecesors Baltimore and New Orleans. She's as vulnerable to concentrated fire as any cruiser so her being so close to the frontlines is generally not a good idea. Couple this with a rather bad accuracy at long ranges and low muzzle speed and she isn't that overpowered.
  24. Just had 2 great games with Aerroon in my team. Both games were carried by us, specially the first one: 3 kills with my Zao and he destroyed 4 ships on his Des Moines.
