This season in ranked lasts just a few weeks iirc so buy your Atago now if you need a ship for ranked seems she's hands down the best cruiser you can use (yay for pay2win). I wouldn't get my hopes up for WGs "sales" but just in case wait for then if you aren't in a hurry.

A good cruiser captain knows his ship good enough to force a situation where he knows that showing broadside will ensure mostly overpens or regular penetrations. In the same way a good BB captain knows the above and will try to prevent that situation. The conclusion is simple: know your ship and play it to its strenghts. Don!t complain that others do it if you can't deal with it.

He was being completely ignored by the WGstaff, they never answered his PMs or other messages, to the point of the few competitions he held he had to pay himself for the prizes. Of course he'd leave when he's being treated like a persona non-grata. Now guess why he was being ignored by comparing his content with the "comunity contributors" we have.

The whole star deserving mechanics you guus are proposing is absolutely out of touch about how this game works. No matter how much the devs refine the exp distribution system it will never mirror the real contribution a player had toward victory. There are so many things that don't reflect that you'd be leaving out a lot of good players that simply know better than just capping and doing damage.

Thank God I'm just an average player (Though I'd love to be the best Kinugasa player across all servers).

Des Moines isn't a solo machine. You should be dealing with enemies while getting someone to tank for you, prefereably a BB. You'll be the most annoying enemy of all if you pair up with one and spam HE at the enemy BB. You've got 6 guns on the front and 6 secs reload time so forget about your aft gun and show only your bow for less area to hit for enemy shells. Don't get close to other ships by yourself unless you clearly hold the advantage. Be wary as allways of enemy IJN cruisers cause they can easily trade their HP for a sure kill with their torps. Disengage and become unspoted using your reduced spotting distance or when you want to change directions and need to show your broadside. Pick on injured targets, use your HE to finish enemies with fires (demolition expert), Des Moines is an excellent flamethrower. Overall Des Moines isn't a bad ship but it lacks variety in its options and is more dependant on the circunstances to truly shine. This comes from a Zao/Senjo captain and sworn enemy of Des Moines.

Are you picturing this in randoms where cruisers happily sail in straight lines showing their broadsides and halve the players don't know crapabout game mechanics or in ranked where everyone knows how to play each ship to its strenghts? I'd take a Hipper any day as a cruiser killer instead of a Tirpitz. It's the job of a BB to kill the other BBs in tier VIII, nothing else can reliably, even the carriers and sadly Tirpitz deck armor just doesn't cut it while a North Carolina will bounce all those 380mm shells if it is showing the front.

Guys can you please stop the e-peen flaying? I know that OP is precisely the biggest offender but don't make this into another another inflated egos pool. Some people here, Ishiro the first one are completely belittling the skills needed for climbing up the ranks both in the trench (which in this season is practically until rank 5) and in the "premiere league" (rank 5-1). When on the trench your contribution must excel others in all camps while dishing damage and keeping in mind the strategical objectives. Having leadership also helps a lot. This is obviously easier to do for some classes than others and luck also help but no matter how much you've got if your contribution doesn't cut above the rest, well, you won't climb. Until here it isn't that different from ramdoms and this is why I say that the worse of this season is the unrevokable rank 10 because the progression in player quality was less steep in the first season. Afaik the groups were 25-15, 15-10, 10-5 and 5-1 and each time you climbed to the next group you noticed the difference. Right now it's a VERY painful road getting to rank 5, specially if you can only play on peak hours or even worse on the weekends. I'll just say it, I'm not the greatest player around but I'm very aware of the strategical objectives and how to achieve then. I started playing ranked the very friday, climbed from tier 11 to 9 the friday morning. Saturday morning reached tier 6 and then came the peak hours, dropped to rank 8 and just stoped there. Enjoyed the randoms during sunday, went back to ranked today morning, climbed to rank 5. The point is that I think not all players can play in low pop hours like myself and among those that play at peak hours the good players, most of then, will need great progress to reach rank 5, just for then meeting no lifers and obsessed like me that may very well be way above their skill level. There is no middle ground for the above average player! Finally, I want to point out that strategy and good judgement more than skill is what makes the higher ranks a great playground where skill is less relevant since everyone knows perfectly the game mechanics, values and aiming. Coordination and plans come out much more naturally and then this WoWs becomes a completely different game. Of course, clan and team matches will reach a new level but in ranked you can actually know people .

Tirpitz is outgunned by all other BBs of her tier. It can specially strugle against a NC that knows how to use its frontal armor. Torps are nice but the main role of a BB in tier VIII is killing other BBs. Warspite is very vulnerable to long range fire thanks to her thing deck armor. She was praised for being the most manouverable BB but now that all BBs have cruiser tier turn circle, not anymore. Atago is actually the only non russian premium that it's definetly good without a doubt. So many tomatoes whined about her that now she's practically an Ibuki in tier VIII with better torp arcs.

The point was showing how inflated the russian navy is taking into account its importance, that all of then are good ships (Mikasa, Sims?) and that other navies should be getting premiums if what they really want is money.

What really enrages me about this is that right now how many russian premiums we've got? And yet we have another one. Right now you can happily enjoy all MM tiers of this game with a single russian captain with all good ships while making tons of credits. Nationalism in the way? A good thing for the players? Really, how many of us came to this game to play russian ships? It's like they are telling us "you'll like russian ships wether you want or not" by doing what I described. Before continuing I'll make it clear, I'm spaniard. And then we have the rest of the navies that have YET to be implemented in the game: I guess they want to keep milking this game asap so why not releasing premiums of those navies? Blykawica was a good step in that direction but what about other big navies? It's specially painful seeing the Royal Navy having A SINGLE SHIP in the game. One that isn't even available. And it also makes better sense from a business point of view. The enormous figures of Tirpitz and Atago sales should show then it's on real famous ships where money is. But there is nothing to do here. Best we can do here in EU is ignore and move on. Our voice isn't heard at all.

Nothing to add to the OP, he pretty much nailed my thoughts too about this season. The irrevocable rank 10 is the worse of all changes imo, cause it makes the trench go way longer. This is specially bad for cruiser players like myself who's got the least capacity to influence the match in tiers VII-VIII. Only solution I fathom to imagine is playing in the least populated times where all the casuals are doing other stuff.

Now at ELO hell at rank10. I can't for the life of me fathom how it is possible that in the same match I had 2 Amagis that beached thenselves during 4 minutes just at the beginning,, a YOLO cruiser and another one that simply ran to the border of the map and stayed there hiding the whole match. Also, Atago is OP as [edited]now being the top tier in this matches. There is no other cruiser that can match her except maybe Hipper but Hipper has horrible HE and mediocre torps so yeah, in my book ranked is already being stained by pay2win. Will probably make a more detailed post about this later. Meanwhile I can only recomend, if you've got an Atago, hop in her and enjoy the power: You are basically an Ibuki in tier VIII without having to fight tier IX and X BBs.

So you actually discriminate bettwen those who you deem worthy of your and WG staff replies by using some "negativity" level. Oh boy I guess my replies don't meet WG staff tight quality standards to be considered valid and worthy, talk about being biased. It certainly reminds me the story of certain donkey. But it's ok, I know my and other user's replies haven't been exactly constructive or "positive" as you like to call those replies you like. But now, look at me I've been here a very long time, enough to notice how things work here, how utterly useless is our feedback no matter in which state of the development of this game and I'm tired of WGs crappy treatment; there was a time when I was too a "good boy". Nevertheless I'm still here, playing, paying and even defending some of WGs less popular decisions like the way ranked battles work or how the high tier economy works but I guess that's not "positive" enough in your book. But you know what, Ectar, I actually think your negativity book is bullcrap, because no matter what I do or don't do in the forum, the game or wherever I act my opinion as well as every other user's should be equal in this. If you have to deal with such a rowdy comunity, well, tough luck, your bosses have threw you to this and we are also victims of their decisions, otherwise we wouldn't be complaining.

Since it seems that Ectar and the comunity manager team are doing everything they can to make our conscerns have any effect on the direction the game is taking, with rather underwhelming effects I must add, I want to ask something. What should we as paying customers enthusiast players and fans of this game do so our voices reach farther? What can we do that it's not whining and constructive? Are we forever condemned to have WG's middle finger ad aeternum to us simply because we have our accounts in this server?

I'm still left a bit saddened about this separation of the ranks by ship tiers. It would have been very interesting having 2 different leagues in those 2 tiers brackets because gameplay vary a lot bettwen then. Just think that now Minekaze will be in ranked, Cleveland won't have to face 406-410mm guns anymore and that Nürnberg will make quite an impact. The upper tiers bracket will feature a more conservative play but Tashkent and Hipper will reverse their respective roles, the first one as a real threat to cruisers and the second as quite a punchy cruiser against BBs. Hipper in good hands will make quite an effective cruiser hunter and BB threat but will be much less effective against DDs. Anyway, I just hope this is also a test and next season we get 2 full leagues.
