Fun(adrenaline) factor as follows: USN DD>IJN DD>IJN CA>USN CA>IJN BB>USN BB>IJN CV>USN CV (This is only for me ofc)
-
Hmmmm What about an option that you could turn on or off. It would "degrade" the ship's condition(only visually ofc) over time, the more battle you play the more weathered Your ship will look.
-
my whole reason to grind the USN was because of the Shrexy paintjob

when I first loaded up the port in the 0.4.0 PT server and saw how my Poor Pensacola, and Mahan looked:

The Omaha is a scout cruiser, It was designed to scout ahead of the fleet and to operate individually. On the Other hand the Cleveland was meant for a fleet action, to engage in battle. Thus it has powerful guns and good armor. The Cleveland has a low muzzle velocity on the guns, because She fires super heavy AP ammunition. Although this means that her muzzle velocity is lower, her guns are way more powerful. You can even handle high tier heavy cruisers in her, the Omaha on the other hand neither has good penetration nor sufficient protection, and because of that She dies fast against cruisers like the Aoba, or other heavy cruisers. Not to even mention that the Cleveland is a tier 8 ship, her historical rate of fire was 8-10 rounds per minute, there was very few light cruisers in WWII that can hold a candle to her, very few indeed....
-
Her guns are actually way worse
-
I doubt You will see any T3 stuff in her, If the Devs made her with her original 12"/40 guns, then You will have a hard time dealing with a St.Louis firing AP at you, those guns had bad penetration and can only manage max 1 rounds per minute, I guess tier 2 only MM. And her range is way better than I expected, around 9-10 km, with the low RoF and only 4 guns, You will probably have good accuracy, at least better than the Kawachi's. Or not and She will be a horribad Nightmare
-
Not that much, Look at her maneuverability, 450 turn radius with 13 sec rudder shift time, Essentially the whole armament of the St.Louis as secondary.
-
Yeah, half the number of guns with half the rate of fire. I've just read that those guns could not penetrate 15.8 cm of armor
-
Oi Oi Oi 12"/40 guns? the original ones? Damn mateys That means a healthy RoF of 1 RPM
-
But for some ships You would also need to add different layers of armor, so you would also need to make it like an ogre, so it will have layers. the problem is that it takes quite a lot of time to do this for every ship in the game.

........... I think I just want my money back

I've had the same feeling when I was in the Independence back in CBT and my squadrons were wiped out in a couple of seconds To be honest I stopped actively playing this game months ago, I am currently just waiting for the cute Mikasa so I can club some with the seals in proper pre-Jutland fashion at tier 2. but I feel ya brotha' -
Why is accuracy with BBs so bad at close range?
Bl4ckh0g replied to gbgroger's topic in General Discussion
Aham, so in lower tiers nobody should play cruisers, since the battleships can handle the destroyers because of their (now) good accuracy, and since Cruisers would be decimated in a couple of salvos since from 9-10 km You have very limited ability to dodge and an experienced BB skipper can fire off unavoidable salvos with ease.(firing each turret individually at different spots so no matter where you dodge you will get hit) -

Yeah and since We were talking about close range those are totally irrelevant.(E.: Well at least against a battleship, that is) -

BBs have bad accuracy to keep Destroyers and Cruisers viable, There's nothing more to it. Period. -

And What about Destroyers with 8 km gun range? Or Cruisers with 9 km gun range? Since That is pretty close range. also higher tier battleship have somewhat acceptable accuracy in short range since They even buffed It a couple of patches ago -

Yay Chester RoF 6 St.Louis RoF 7,5 Phoenix RoF 7,5 Omaha RoF 7,5 Mogami RoF 6 (Though that's 6.1") Cleveland RoF 6-7,5 I referred to 6" guns Those IJN cruisers have 140 mm guns, 5.5" ones -

Shimakaze's full torpedo broadside has 7,5 ton explosive(7350 kg to be more precise) A Yamato's full broadside has 306 kg. E.: Oh also a torpedo takes minutes to reach the target, a shell takes seconds. -

Tier 2-3 cruisers have a RoF around 6-7,5, tier 3 battleships have around 2. Math much? -
Why is accuracy with BBs so bad at close range?
Bl4ckh0g replied to gbgroger's topic in General Discussion
A 6" gun has worse ballistic characteristics than a 12" gun and because of that a 6" gun is more inaccurate from long range. But in short range with a faster RoF you can adjust your firing better, and thus you can achieve a better hit ratio. But You wanna know Why are battleships inaccurate? Because It takes 5 well aimed shots from a Kawachi to kill a St.Louis. So unless You wanna die from one salvo each time you meet good Kawachi(Or any battleship) player, You do not want to have good accuracy on battleships. -

You have 3 times the rate of fire You can observe the fall of shot 3 times instead of one You have 3 times more chance to correct Your firing solution You have better accuracy Other than that of course there is that the low tier cruisers actually have to play somehow, and since If you get hit by 305 mm shells accurately, You are not gonna survive longer than 2 minutes. -

Well, You see hitting a target with a 152 mm guns is easier than hitting something with a 305 mm guns, Especially If you have 2 different 305 mm guns that require two different calculation in order to have a chance at hitting something. Here a nice reading material http://dionysus.biz/NavalGunnery.html
