    Royal Navy Tech tree Proposal

I wrote sad because it seems you lost any hope in WG that they can actually balance their game to some degree until RN ships come, which is ~1 year after launch and I think that's sad. It does not really matter how many shells can you lob at a target if most of them will do nothing. A 152 mm gun is nice and all,If I look at the Cleveland's 6"/47 guns and the British 6"/50 Mk N5, they had nearly the same muzzle velocity and shell weight. , so I'm guessing that they had nearly identical penetration. The USN gun could penetrate 127 mm from 14,000 meter. Which is good. But the Des Moines has 153 mm belt armor, The Zao has 175 mm. And their guns are 8" ones. You cannot citadel hit them from long range. You just cannot. They will kill you in a long range duel. Your only chance against them will be to go close, way to close. I do not see Why is this ship will ruin anything at all. Like yeah HE spam, but HE will be fixed.

    Royal Navy Tech tree Proposal

What difference? A light cruiser with 6" guns which can barely penetrate anything in tier 10. Her only viable role would be DD hunting, Any heavy cruiser would mop up the floor with her... I am kinda assuming by the way that Wg will nerf the HE until the Royal Navy arrives, but I guess you do not, which is again just plain sad...

    Royal Navy Tech tree Proposal

Because a 203 mm shell spamming cruiser with 10 RPM is perfectly okay, I guess? Edit: There's also the fact that so assume WG will not do any balancing for a year and a half, which is just plain sad...

    Preferential MM on the Yubari?

I meant with optimal player numbers , I know what the current MM spread is, but under ideal conditions when there's more than 10-15 people per tier in the queue the MM might operate with a +/-1 spread, I never read an official statement (Or I do not remember reading one)that we'd have a +/-2 MM spread. In WoT you can do the stay back and support your team/flank the enemy and such tactics with a 2 tier lower tank and you can use gold ammo to negate the penetration difference. But I highly doubt the +/-2 tier MM spread would work in WoWs. I mean, sure there are lines where the ships do not get better that much in two tiers, for example the DD lines, cruisers, some parts of the battleships . But the Carrier MM cannot work with a +/- 2 tier spread, same with the tier 3-4 ships, A Kawachi has no chance against a Kongo or a Tenryuu against an Omaha and such. And the gold ammo cannot negate this stuff, penetration is not that much of a deciding factor, when the enemy got double the number of guns

    Royal Navy Tech tree Proposal

I am just curious. I looked up the Minotaur, but.... Why is she tier 10 material? I mean compared to the Worcester, She does not really seem like much of a tier 10(And even the Worcester is probably tier 9 material Edit:eh maybe tier 10, maybe )
  11. Bl4ckh0g

    Preferential MM on the Yubari?

Do we like actually have more than +/- 1 MM spread? ( I mean with proper player numbers) I mean with the number of players the hell knows, but in the queue screen the highlighted tiers were always +/- 1

    Furutaka...failure or not?

Shouldn't we compare her to the Omaha instead? Like, It's pretty obvious She seems bad when compared to a tier higher ship.
  13. Bl4ckh0g

    Furutaka...failure or not?

I do not really get the connection between the shape of a ship's bow and her ability to resist gunfire, I mean...like....How? I mean, like the Furutaka is maybe, more prone to citadel hits, because of the 6 turrets and the bigger magazines, but like She is armored enough to be protected from 6" guns from more than 8-9 km so... I'm like really not getting why the Aoba is more resilient to damage than the Furutaka
  14. Bl4ckh0g

    Furutaka...failure or not?

I do not really understand that. The Furutaka has the same armor as the Aoba, and She has 200 more health as well. The Furutaka is tougher than the Aoba. Even more so since the guns that shooting at the Furutaka are weaker than the guns shooting at the Aoba. The Furutaka's only weakness is the bad turret train rate. It seems a ship is garbage to some people just because of that....
  15. Bl4ckh0g

    Furutaka...failure or not?

She is similar to the Aoba, not the Myoko. She plays like the Myoko. Both having the same turret train rates and having similar gun layouts. Her range is okay for tier 5. 13 km is perfectly acceptable. I consider any ship a "sniper"(I'd rather say long range gunslinger, but sniper is shorter) which operates at her fullest in 10+km. She is a perfectly capable of defeating any other cruisers up to tier 5 from long range. The Furutaka holds the cards in a long range duel. She has more powerful guns which can easily defeat the Omaha's armor while the Omaha's guns have rather bad penetration(They can only penetrate 76 mm from 8,2 km) Like, Seriously I do not understand you people. I tried her. And I'm wrecking stuff with her. I'm gonna play much more in her, but so far from the 5 games I had in her, she is awesome. Like, Do you want me to put a couple of replays up in her? Would that convince you people? Hell, If you want just PM me in the forums, We go a couple of battles in her and you can see for yourself that she is anything, but a bad ship.
  16. I had an occasion when I nearly run of of planes in my Independence, I've only had like 4-5 Dbs left I think. It was on that icy Nordic kind of map with the opening in the middle and a Mountain in the west side of the map. So I was there sailing when someone spotted the enemy Langley standing in place no more than 15 km from me. So I turned towards him, first with the intention to settle the matter with secondaries. As I was closing in I had a naughty, naughty idea. When the guy saw me he started moving, but it was too late. When we were around 4-5 km from one another I SCREAMED: FULL SPEED AHEAD. BRACE FOR IMPACT. RAMMING SPEED!! I survived with around 400-500 HP, HE WAS DECIMATED. As I was nearly dying of laughter, I spotted the enemy Independence. Same deal. I closed in. He saw me and accepted my challenge.( He thought his secondaries will finish the job, but he forgot that the upgraded hull doesn't have any) Around this time an enemy wild St.Louis appeared and starting shooting at me. He hit me once and I was down to 150ish HP. We were no more than 2 km from each other. Once again I shouted: RAMMING SPEED [edited] In the last second he made a hard turn, but twas too late and too little. We slammed into each other. He killed me. He survived the ramming, but He met his end by the flooding. I was literally crying of laughter at this point as you can imagine. And this is how I get 2 ramming kills in one match

    Furutaka...failure or not?

Context matey, Context Furutaka is good for a tier 5, tier 6 is a mess for cruiser balance because of the Cleveland, just look at how over-buffed the Aoba is compared to her RL performance, you cannot take that tier as a proper reference And She is basically a tier 5 Aoba, She has the same HP(even more by 200), same armor and She looks nearly the same. My original beef with the Furutaka being a tier 5 was because the Aoba and the Furutaka is nearly the same ship(after their refit) And of course tier 7 is too much for her, She is a bloody tier 5 ship!!! Furutaka is good for that line, both the Aoba and the Myoko has to be played nearly the same way as the Furutaka. Aoba got better turret layout, but as I said They are nearly the same ship and the Furutaka is more forgiving for making mistakes than the Aoba. If I have to buff something about her, it would be a slight turret train rate buff, no more than 5-10% She is good little ship for the current meta. Yeah the IJN cruisers should have good torpedoes, but until WG decides to give them that, the Furutaka fits nicely. Torpedoes are nice to have, but the bloody ship only has 76 mm of belt armor, If you want to use your torpedoes you will take serious damage. But from long range, the Furutaka can dish out some hefty damage against an Omaha and lower tier cruisers without receiving half of that in return. She is a nice long range, big hitter. The most serious problem is the turret train rate. And yeah her AA is bad, but to be honest, before the global AA buff all tier 5 AA was terrible. And her RoF is good enough, if she'd got 4, the Omaha would not stand a chance.

How did you come up with your name?

I simply came up with my own from out of the blue. I played CoD MW something and there was this tank which had the code-name of Warpig, and I quite liked that. So when I made my WoT account I tried to come up with something like that. And that turned out to be Black Hog I added some numbers so I can be kewl and to not worry about the name being already taken thing. I became known as Blackhog or "Blackie" for short

Issues in the US cruiser line

So, now I can Finally post stuff. Thing is, that WG will have to move the Cleveland. Period. That thing is pretty much decided. I think WG knows that. That isn't really the thing to be discussed here. I proposed to put the Oakland group in tier 6, and I actually wanted to hear opinions on that matter. The other possibility is the Brooklyn preliminary design. So try to discuss this thing instead whether we whine about the Cleveland being moved or not. The other thing is the Des Moines. Now, the Des Moines can be nerfed to reasonable levels. Thing is that from what feedback I read on the forums about her, she is a glass cannon. I think that is pretty bad. The Des Moines had a good armor protection and to balance her you should lower her RoF. It's not like Wg doesn't already does this with the Cleveland. For me, the Des Moines should be a cruiser with good protection, good AA, and reasonably good RoF (5,5-6,5). I talked with Tuccy and he thinks that the Des Moines can be nerfed to fit the game without completely removing her. And I think that's true, but for that you will have to cripple the ship's DPM instead of making her some waffentrager like glass cannon. These preliminaries are presenting an alternative and for possible tier 10s for another cruiser line, for example the CL line could have one of these as their tier 10. And do not even try to restart this whole cruisers should kill battleships bs. No, they should not. Two heavy cruisers attacking a battleship from both starboard and port side could destroy a battleship from close range with AP, but one of them will die. One cruiser peppering one with HE from long range should not be able to sink a battleship. Period. HE should be a constant low damage dealer with chance of fire. HE should be used to destroy a battleships secondary and AA armament to soften if up for an Airstrike or a DD torpedo run. A cruiser is not a battleship. A battleship is a powerful vessel, but it is more vulnerable for Airstrikes and torpedo runs from CVs and DDs, and for this reason They should need cruiser support A cruiser is a warship that is relatively safe from CVs and DDs, but not invincible. A nicely coordinated torpedo attack from a CV can sink a Cruiser and a multiple DDs can kill her as well. That's why cruisers should seek other cruisers for wolf-packing. A DD should be able to sink a cruiser, but on her own terms which is a really close range encounter within islands or a smokescreen. A cruiser should be able to sink a battleship, but within her own terms which is a wolf pack, not solo action. You know whenever people will say that cruisers should be able to beat battleships on their own in equal terms I will think of this: Block Quote The Battle of the German roadway of 2015 involved the first small-scale tank-against-Toyota hatchback battle in history. The clash at Augustdorf involved at least one vehicle on each side, resulting in a total victory for British tank forces. This book examines two of the premier opposing vehicles of the conflict, the British Challenger 2 MBT and the Toyota Yaris hatchback. With a complete history of the design, development, and deployment of these vehicles, the story of these great battles is brought to life in a highly illustrated format. Thanks Tuccy for bringing this to my attention source: http://tankandafvnews.com/2015/06/02/book-alert-challenger-2-vs-toyota-osprey/

    Furutaka...failure or not?

Definitely not a failure. She is a long range gunslinger. You should play her like that. She has nice maneuverability, really easy to dodge fire from long range. Guns are nice, can handle nearly any cruiser she faces(let's not talk about the Cleveland, shall we?) Torpedoes are good when you find yourself too close to someone, but I would not count on them to be the main damage source. Armor is good against Omaha's 6"/53 guns from over 8-9 km, so as I said long range is her niche. Turret placement and traverse isn't the best but you have to learn how to handle them. The Furutaka is essentially the best ship in tier 5. She prepares you perfectly for the Aoba and the Myoko. Both ships play the same way as the Furutaka. She is nice. That's all.
  21. Awwwww yeaaaah, I'm back So There's this new mode they've added this patch. You select your favorite ship. The Zao, Old girl's still got it.You are waiting for the battle to load up. Damn, this thing, even after the patches It's still slow. Whatever, you got time. While you wait at least you can look at the map of this new mode.Hmm... Map's name is Sea of Madness?. Omnious. You like it. Looks interesting. Lot of small islands. They seem like reefs.Heh, just like a maze.Battle loaded up. Yay. My beard just only got 5 shades lighter.Your first impression is pleasant. Map looks nice. "Looks nice", from what you can see from it. Bloody thing is covered in fog thick as soup. You look around, there's a Fletcher portside around 6-7 km from you. Nice, at least them IJN DDs won't be bothering us.Boilers are heating up. Ship starts moving. You set a course to the closest opening between the reefs. Fletcher decides to run parallel to you. You try to look for other teammates, but you can only see their icons in the distance. Well, they ain't gonna be much help that's for sure.As you enter between the rocks you launch your spotter plane. You put your speed to 3/4, The banks are close together in this part and They are covered in fog, You'd rather not beach the ship. You slowly advance through the fog, while scanning the surroundings....Nothing. Battle's going for about 5 minutes for now, but still nothing...Guns. You hear guns firing. They are distant. Probably your team mates. So they found something to shoot at, eh?Good. Finally. Something. As you watch the distant markers of your team mates, You hear a familiar sound. Your plane is attacked. You quickly look into the direction of your plane's last location. You were just fast enought to catch a glimpse of a crusier. From what little you could see It's most probably a USN one. Great. Something,...something did not seem right about it though. As if... It was...transparent?....Yeaaaahh, riiight Good one. Must've been a bug or something. You start to turn and train into your guns into position. Now, we wait...You hear guns firing. These are much, much closer. You start searching for the Fletcher. You spot the ship. More precisely you spot what's remained from her...She's split in half. Someone rammed her. Maybe the cruiser? Can't be. He was nearly 12 clicks nearly a minute ago. You start to get goosebumps as a chill runs through your spine.Something does not seem right.Just as the Fletcher's hull disappers among the waves, a salvo screams through the air and hits your superstructure. Light damage. Nothing too serious. You turn around. Baltimore. 5 clicks starboard side. Guns are training. You can't turn, reefs blocking the way. You have around 6 seconds 'till the next salvo.Guns are still training. You try to angle yourself as much as you can in the limited space.Guns are still training. Not fast enough. You hear the ship screaming as the shells penetrate the belt armor and ravage her insides. Half you health points are gone. Another salvo like this and you are fish food.Guns are finally in place. You aim at the waterline.Fire.Shells flying.Flying..No hits. Shells did not connect. You see the splashes. You see the splashes behind the ship. What? No. No, that can't be.How?What? You are looking at the Baltimore, not knowing what happened. You just notice it.The ship is glowing. She emits a greenish sick faint light. Fluorescent camo. Really? As you looking at her, you begin to notice other things as well. The ship is covered in seaweed. It's not just that. That ship is full of holes. Holes caused by shells. You begin to wonder how the hell is that ship even afloat with that damage..She fired.Shells are flying.Flying..The shells connect and you watch as your Hp drops to zero.As your ship sinks, You take last look at the Baltimore as She slowly vanishes into the fog.You look at the team list. All dead. You were the last one..The battle is over..As you stare at the battle results It suddenly hits you.You start to laugh...This is madness. Game Mode: Survival Horror7 players enter, god knows how many manages to leave. Objective: Stay inside of a circle for 30 seconds.Which is at the other side of a maze like reef swarming with the unholy ghosts of sunken ships raised by the Old Gods. Rewards: 1000 base xp, 100,000 credit if you manage to cap, +10-15% for every team mate that died during the battle.300 base xp, 45,000 credit if you die. +10-15% for every team mate that died before you. Credit and xp rewards depend on average tier of the participating ships. Your Options:Battleship: Try to weather the storm of fire from the undead and reach the cap point before they sink you.Cruisers: Try to stay undetected as long as possible, and make a run for it through the reefs.Destroyers: Try to be stealthy and sneak into the cap circle. Use your speed and maneuverability to run away from the ghosts.Carriers: Use your planes to spot the ghosts and try to avoid them. The "ghosts" are beefed up AI with special "undead" camo (no you will not be able to shoot through them, that was for dramatic effect). Their aim is near perfect. You can kill them. But not alone. After you survived 100 battles in this game mode, You receive a special "undead" camo for one of your tier 10 ship with special "Ghost crew" which means unique Captain portrait and voice feedback. Mode would come with a unique soundtrack as well.

Survival horror mode: Sea Of Horrors

Xevious_Red, on 26 May 2015 - 05:23 PM, said: have a look at a game called sunless sea, very atmospheric, cthulhu esq stuff. Plus you can lose your mind and eat your own crew, which is always nice already on wishlist I'm just waiting for the summer sales Okkay, So based on the poll, around 8 people would like to read more about this horror campaign, which is good enough for me. What I think, I'll do is make the story-line with the Captain's POV on the Fan-part of the forum, but mostly without the technicalities. So it would be like a short story stuff. I will probably start posting it around Friday, might be Thursday, not sure yet. also yaaay 600th post!!!

Survival horror mode: Sea Of Horrors

    well, this is a bummer
  24. So Are they benefited form this patch? I had a Couple of games in the Myoko and the lil' girl seems to take damage rather well, even from close range. Did you noticed such improvements?

    Pensacola and New Orleans UP

Naah, doubt that a higher tier cruiser with even the 5"/54 would work, you'd have to be insanely close to penetrate the armor and do citadel damage against a NO or Baltimore Well anyway I'm going to make a proper topic about remaking the USN cruisers instead of hijacking other threads And I do not think that the Pensacola is UP, she is a nice maneuverable ship. You just have to play smart in her that's all.
