You used the 1.3km torps which is one of the lowest detection ranges. Tried Mutsuki's 2km torps, this will give you 2.4km which is huge.. even worse for IJN high tier DDs and their 2.1km detection ranges. For a tier 3 skill being so generous, and it absolutely butchers high tier DDs, I think you should be grateful and thank the devs they listened to the whiners on this! -

They can't just increase an AA of a ship because the number and type of AA guns is historical. They actually made Iowa's AA unhistorical just to nerf it so you see the problem here. I think the AA balance is fine for cruisers but I'm not sure about battleships. Up to tier 7 they only get range advantage and from tier 8-10 there's practically no advantages at all! -
Tip, the elite torpedoes are the same on Aoba, so if you unlock and buy Aoba first you will get the upgrade for free and you will just have to upgrade the hull.

Just one thing you missed, upgrading the guns will give you 17 seconds reload instead of the 21 seconds. Devs know the Furutaka is bad, but they said they don't know what to do with her. It's rather stupid isn't it.. all these suggestions flying around and they say they have no idea..!- 130 replies

How's Fubuki and Kagerou-classes are not iconic? Japanese destroyers achieved more than their cruisers and battleships combined, just nobody talks about them. They are like the underrated hero and that's the reason I love them. For those says that table is BS, well the numbers were provided by a supertester. I'd believe his numbers more than someone who randomly comments they are BS. Also my Mutsuki experience is from CBT, my most games were in Mutsuki, Hatsuharu and Fubuki. The reason I think Mutsuki is bad is because she's not as fun to play compared to those. I barely played in Minekaze in CBT and I actually performed badly in it because I just wanted to rush to Mutsuki, the DD I absolutely enjoyed during the beta weekend test. Turned out to be a disappointment!

Problem is, you just described Aoba. After modernization Furutaka and Aoba classes became almost identical. -

Obviously it's there to balance the huge overpoweredness of this ship. It doesn't work though and at close ranges your shots will reach fast enough and your AP will penetarte any citadel!

I like the idea of less RNG, but we have to think carefully before demanding for more accurate guns for BBs.. they will be overpowered. in my CBT experience I did more damage in Fuso than any tier 8 cruiser or destroyer. Many battleships have enormous number of guns, like 12 on tier 4 battleship. If we buff the accuracy then I don't think any ship can stand a chance. Currently one of the most accurate battleships is New Mexico and I have been sniped in my DD a couple of times. While I think less RNG is more fun, it has to come with a balance. The huge damage citadel hits needs to go. I rather to do constant low damage roles than do a hit or miss one shots and huge damage hits, same for torps, if they were faster to reload and harder to avoid it would be better than easy to avoid but huge damage if hits.

That's the historical part of the game. Most these battleships were made in a time where naval aviation wasn't that known to use so ships didn't have any significant AA. Later they were modernized and a bug bunch of AA is added to them. -
Cleveland class 5" DP guns do not fire on aircraft (?)

umm, does that work for DP guns? I think it is for AA guns only. DP guns will follow where you are aiming at, but thy still shoot at planes. -
Fuso's AA nerf is hardly entire BB nerf. Even I will admit, even though it hurts, that Fuso was OP.

Yeah this is mainly a tier 6 thing. The tier 6+ IJN DDs need a 9 seconds reaction time just like USN. the 12 seconds need to go.

On lower tiers they have short range because torps have low ranges too. You will see on some high tier BBs that the secondary ranges will increase to 5, 6 or even 7 km on Yamato. There are also equipment and skills that improve secondaries range up to over 10km on Yamato. Having secondaries with too much range is not fair on lower tiers, Wyoming has 12 high caliber guns and good enough AA and good turning capability. I don't think it needs the extra secondary guns power IMO.

I will remove my sig when they fix the spotting ranges on IJN torps. If you think BBs are bad, try to do one third of Fuso's damage in Fubuki. And no, Kawachi being UP has nothing with BBs being UP. Mutsuki is UP does that mean all IJN DDs are up? I'd even say Myougi is fine now with the new hull. Essex could one click Yamato with 3 DBs? I thought DBs were crap before 0.3.1 and after that I still could survive 3-4 waves in Fuso and still do samage that is twice my average damage in Fubuki. Wasn't BB agility returned to their 0.3.0 values? So they weren't nerfed, just debuffed. It was stupid that North Carolina could completely evade all 9 torps from Fubuki. Wasn't AA nerf just for Iowa and North Carolina? Cruisers got DP guns buff. I once killed 2 Shoukaku planes in Fubuki as soon as I activated my AA.. I'd say AA is fine at high tiers. Also BBs get fighter plane now. So panic ability. And you are right.. only IJN carriers got nerfed, USN ones got buffed to pre nerf IJN levels on high tiers. I suspect NA whine had sonething to do with it. I'd say BBs are not as fun to play as other classes, but underpowered? I don't think so. BBs are still the most played class by far.

I was referring to the controllable secondaries with my first sentence.. if they removed it from BBs and continuously nerfed the accuracy that is because it was found overpowered. same how carriers received multiple nerfs in 3.1, people look at the current stat but they don't know how did the current class balance got to its current forum. And I was one-shotted in my cruisers in e one salvo, I one-shotted DDs in one HE salvo and same happened to me in my DDs. It's not common but it is as common as all the other one-shots that happen in the game. In the end if you took 4 or 5 torp to your broadside isn't that your fault too? So battleships should need to "learn to play" just like anyone else. I can't count how many times I watch a BB keep sailing forward and Tbs are coming directly at his broadside. I tell them to turn into the planes but don't care what they see outside their sniper view! OP based an entire opinion about BB balance from his experience on t3 battleships, which everyone knows they are UP in that tier. It doesn't mean they are in higher tiers, it dosn't mean secondaries are useless on all BBs, it doesn't mean BBs are underpowered. And yes my sig clearly shows how everything is being nerfed so those dumb BB players don't die because of their stupidity.. the high reaction times of high tier torps and IJN torp spread are clear examples of that.

That class they hate was massively overpowered at one point.. as someone already said and WG answered before, BBs had controllable secondaries but they were removed because they were overpowered! You can't just expect AI guns to do the damage and kill enemy ships for you, that's bad balance. At least for some ships yo have to spend money on equipment and flags to have decent secondaries.. and it's not like a BB can't oneshot other ships with their mains already!
