Personally I just used free XP on the hull, and the torps were unlocked since Furutaka.

Patch 0.5.3 - Discussion to Nerf to AFT and Buff to Mikhail (statistic data provided)
Takeda92 replied to XueLong's topic in General Discussion
Average winrate of a ship from warships.today or any other site means nothing if we don't look at the average winrate of the all the players of that ship. A ship with 52% WR and with 20k players that also has 52% average is balanced. If they had 48% then it means the ship is overperforming. -

Also, you don't have to pay to unlock the new ships, unless they are premium ships of course. -
Is the Isokaze more fun than Minekaze? Or grind Mutsuki?
Takeda92 replied to abkack's topic in Newcomers' Section
It doesn't matter, since Isokaze can't see tier 7, it also can't see tier 2. The main big advantage on Minekaze is the top speed. Isokaze is one of the lowest DDs in the game (34kts) while Minekaze is one of the fastest (39kts). When capping, perusing enemies, escaping enemies, this speed matters. Even in tier 7, Minekaze is still one of the fastest and stealthiest DDs so most of the time, you can just avoid enemies. Both DDs are great for their tiers. It is fine if you like Isokaze more. But if you already have Minekaze in your port, then might as well unlock Mutsuki. You don't want to lose credits and rebuy Minekaze again just to continue the grind. It is still your choice though. -

Mutsuki isn't more fun with Minekaze. I don't see what you don't like about Minekaze, it has strong torps, best stealth and speed of all DDs in its tier. There's only one thing Mutsuki can do better than Minekaze and that's AA support. Regardless of your decision, if you really want Isokaze, I advise you yo unlock Mutsuki first and finish the Minekaze grind. That way, you can buy Mutsuki anytime you want and you don't have to rebuy Minekaze in the future. -
Patch 0.5.3 - Discussion to Nerf to AFT and Buff to Mikhail (statistic data provided)

So Mk is doing just as well as Admiral Hipper and Atago, yet she's getting buffed. -
Well Nikolai is a tier 6 ship after all

So why did they sell MK when they know they're going to change her stats right after? -
Patch 0.5.3 - Discussion to Nerf to AFT and Buff to Mikhail (statistic data provided)
Takeda92 replied to XueLong's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. They wanted people to calm down by telling them MK is getting buffed because that's how WG wanted her to be in the first place. Meaning WG intended for MK to be overperforming in the first place with these stats. Just like Nikolai, they never wanted her to be balanced, but OP from the beginning. All this crap about monitoring the balance, it doesn't matter at all if overperforming premium ships will never be nerfed. Are they going to nerf MK if turned out OP? no. -
I understand need for AFT change, Mogami perspective honest confession

I played Myoko on the PT server and I see no problem with her citadel. -
It seems there's going to be a collaborations with kancolle http://expressent.se/top-news/5334/world-of-warships-collaboration-with-kancolle-confirmed

But in your match you described earlier, your team still won right? Shimakaze might be invisible and spam torps, but that alone won't win them games. She is a very strong ship, I'm not disagreeing. But in a tier where there are many other strong ships, is Shimakaze (as a ship, not as a 3-4 per team) really OP? I was looking at the EU stats for the last 2 weeks Here's the problem. More people played Shimakaze than all the other ships combined except Yamato and Zao. Yet, her stats are still no where near as good as them. Do you know why? because when there are 3-4 Shimakazes fire torps at you, in the end, only one of them is going to hit you, The others will miss either because you moved after being hit with the first spread or you died. So only one of those players is going to get the credit for all these torps. To the Shimakaze player, he may have a nice game with 100k damage, or a normal game with 2-4 torp hits, barely earning him the average 50k. What other players see is multiple torp spreads and say "damn OP Shimakaze," as if a single Shimakaze launched all these torps by itself. I think the problem for this over inflation of Shima players is the community itself. When last patch that came and buffed the torp detection, everyone started predicting on how Shimakaze will be OP and eat others for breakfast.. even before that when carriers started to shrink in numbers. People, reading these comments, believe them and started coming back to their Shimakaze and enjoying their free-CV games, thinking they were actually buffed. What most people don't see is that the change to TAM countered the torp detection buffed. So instead of Shimakaze doing better because she was actually buffed, she is doing better because there are so many of them, some torps eventually are going to hit. Yet looking at the stats, the only OP stat I see is the player numbers.

Imagine being flanked from the front and the side by 2 Yamatos.. or 2 Midways both attacking at the same time. Not very different is it?

The torpedo damage of usa dd's is really bad
Takeda92 replied to HipHopHippopotamus's topic in Destroyers
Playing USN DDs as torpedo boats is like playing IJN CAs as AA escort ships. -
I don't see huge winrates or average damages for Shimakaze.. and the only complain about this ship is when there more than 3 in one team. Compare that to a real OP ship like the Imperator Nikolai with its +60% winrate and average damage that equal tier 6 batteships.. and unlike Shimakaze, only 1 ship can do that. Not only that, but currently, there's also Midway at the top of all ships in the game in damage done followed by Yamato. These two are known to be the most OP at tier 10. Yet no one calls Shimakaze OP unless there are 3 or more of them. So no, it is not the most OP ship in the game compared to its tier.
-
And what part of that is WG having wet dreams about Shimakaze? As if Shimakaze is the first OP ship to ever come to the game.

I understand need for AFT change, Mogami perspective honest confession
Takeda92 replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
No it is not. I just tried it on the test server and the turret traverse is horrible. Remember Yorck, pre-buff? yeah.. Mogami is not bad when she's fighting other cruisers and destroyers up close thanks to 140mm of citadel armor. I was actually quite surprised today of the amount of damage I shrug when angled. The new skill that gives 400 hp per tier is really sweet for Mogami as well, I survived matches with only 1-2 k hp left and this skill gives you 3200 hp. Its firepower sadly is not built for brawling. The 155mm, while nice, turn way too slow for.. anything. The 203mm have nice turret rotation, but you'd think the turret arrangement of Mogami would give her advantage over the Myoko.. it doesn't. you still have to show more than 30 degrees to show at least 3 turrets. If that's the case, then I rather play Aoba with 5.5 rpm and show absolutely no angle to the enemy. Planes will shred you apart now too. I played Myoko and I found that you can still kill planes every now and then. Mogami pretty much will take massive damage even from DBs. Btw, the only ships I had a chance of killing in the test server are other Mogamis (and some DDs). Hipper doesn't seem to like taking citadels from Mogami for some reason. If you angle, they can't citadel you too thanks to that sweet citadel armor, but you won't be able to fire many guns too. For some reason I citadeled an Amagi at 15km though! So I found Mogami in the test server the same as I found her during CBT when I played her with the 203mm.. average ship, except everyone around her got stronger (we didn't have Atagos, MKs and Hippers back then). -
I was just checking Fubuki on the test server. With a captain with AFT and BFT, B hull Fubuki gets more AA rating than C hull Fubuki (39 vs 38) The short range DPM on the C hull is higher (42 for B vs 63 at 3.7km), but losing 2 guns will lose you 33% DPS on your long range DPS (22 vs 33). It doesn't matter, because I didn't shoot a single plane even when there was a swarm above me.

For ships like Zao, it won't make any difference. 72kts is almost unavoidable anyway. Making them 77kts is like making all pistols shoot 10% faster. You get the same result either way. The skill is most useful for ships with really long range, like Kagero. The extra speed means there's less chance that the target will change course while the torps are still on their way. It also reduces the reaction time. But if you see a Zao coming at you and its turning its butt, then it doesn't matter of the torps are 72kts or 77kts, you'll get hit either way.

That's why, I suggested this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/43233-suggestion-regarding-053-new-torpedo-skill-and-consumable/

Personally. I wish things were more like this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/43233-suggestion-regarding-053-new-torpedo-skill-and-consumable/

0.5.3 Additional Consumable: Torpedo Recharge Feedback
Takeda92 replied to Ph3lan's topic in Archive
Here's a solution that will please everybody. Remove this consumable, and change the captain skill "torpedo accelerator" into a consumable that replaces speed boost. This way, people can actually pick if they want to boost their torps speed or not. And on high tiers, Shimakaze will only boost some of her torp volleys' not all of them. Since DDs only get 2 charges (4 max) and if you give 5 minutes reload on the consumable, then DDs at high tier won't be as OP as everyone says. I made a suggestion topic about it http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/43233-suggestion-regarding-053-new-torpedo-skill-and-consumable/
