Seeing as BBs have the most damage and highest win rates at most tiers (statistically speaking), I would suggest that most BB captains are, in fact, somewhat useful. Every class has its potato players. Don't tar everyone with the same brush :3

Bismarck is almost certainly the best ship for this kind of build. Her secondary range and power is outstanding for her tier and she has hydro for easy mode torpedobeats. Same story for the tier IX and X German BBs, although their hideous manoeuvrability would make them awkward at close range. Yamato and Izumo have great secondaries but again suffer from a lack of agility and lack hydro. Scharnhorst and Gneisnau have the benefits of torps to add an extra edge to your brawling and Nagato was always the 'secondary brawl' ship in CBT, although I never tried that build on her.

World of Battleships - what are Cruisers players currently doing?
Kittykami replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
My Zao is absolutely loving the abundance of targets right now... I'm even doing okay-ish in New Orleans and I doubt anyone would call her a strong ship. -
WoWS Anniversary event, NA already gave a reminder well in advance, check info and grind if necesarry.

They could quite easily be balanced at tier X - they both have enough AA mounts and could manage around 3.5 - 4 rpm from the main battery. With cruiser accuracy and agility they could deliver devastating AP blows to broadside cruisers and stand a decent chance against BBs at closer range too. Not to mention the fact that their HE potential would be pretty good as well. The reason Scharnhorst has been given 'bad' (I actually think it's pretty good) accuracy is that her armour makes her essentially a BB. That was needed as a balancing factor.

Wow, free stuff! Thanks WG :3 Guess a lot of people will be rolling into the RN CLs with a specced up captain...

Real CV trouble, DD & Cruiser Driver Union Strike
Kittykami replied to Charger76's topic in General Discussion
US CV strike setups are pretty crap, but I'd rather have a strike CV on my team than an all fighter one since they're just useless deadweight who serve only to prevent the enemy CV doing damage, while doing almost none themselves. I'd rather have a functional, damage dealing member of the team than a ship that can't even defend itself against a bottom tier cruiser. That said, 'balanced' load outs are always the best as they allow a CV both to deal damage and eliminate threats and to disrupt the enemy CVs strikes where possible.- 39 replies

Aiming the guns as you would a cruiser (shoot for upper belts and superstructure) works for me. Got some 10k salvoes against a Tirpitz the other night. I've also found her dispersion to be really good at usable ranges, especially when snapshotting DDs. YMMV I guess. If you have a German BB commander with AFT and manual secondaries that would be really good on her I feel. My captain isn't quite at that level but the secondaries are still great.
-
Depends how they end up balancing Alaska and B65. If they balance them as tier X cruisers they should have a very interesting gameplay style somewhere between a BB and a CA.
-
Truly manually controlled secondaries would add an interesting element to the game, for sure. But it would have to be implemented very VERY carefully so as not to make certain classes OP. Introducing it alongside a range buff would essentially make BBs into mobile death hedgehogs (as they were IRL) which would make CAs role in the game completely irrelevant. I think they could be introduced with the current limitations of range and accuracy as a balancing factor without breaking the game, yet still providing a reasonable incentive for BBs to push in close.

I think the lower tiers are still fun and manic for the most part. High tier 'campyness' is in my opinion promoted by the sluggishness and general lack of agility on high tier ships. Really puts a damper on aggressive play IMO.
-
Better sell all my BBs then...
-
Those US fighter buffs seem specifically designed to make low tiers and their glut of AS Bogues even more 'fun' for IJN CV players. My poor Zuiho ;_;

High tiers in a nutshell:

When I read the thread title I thought this was going to be about having a port mode where you can view your ship out of the water in a dry dock setting... Still think that would be a good thing. OP's idea sounds like it was lifted at least in part from AW. Not sure the devs would want people messing with the repair costs/commander exp grinds they're seemingly reluctant to change, but a nice thought nonetheless.

Steven Seagal to join WoWS as a "Heroic Battle Advisor"

I really hope his skills as an 'advisor' are better than his skills as an actor. Pretty sure my bedpost could deliver a less wooden performance.- 111 replies

I've reached the Konig and I can honestly say it's one of the most pleasant lines in the game to play so far. Hope it stays this good all the way to Bismarck...
-
They're not OP, it's just that the other BBs at that tier (aside from the STRONK Russian of course) are all mediocre or downright bad. Germans seem comfy as hell in comparison.
-
All these people complaining about IJN BBs??? Is this bizzaro world?? It's still the most consistently good line in the game, even after various US BB buffs. Even a moron like me can do decently well in them.

Oh god that B turret top. 'GAWD SAEV DER QWEEN!'
