It sounds like they're determined to back themselves into the same ridiculous corner as they've done with the DDs. Gimmick based gameplay is the worst idea the devs have had. -

Do IJN Destroyers really need yet another nerf?

No, OP, they certainly don't need another nerf. They need a buff, but with a proviso. I'll raise my head above the parapet and offer an opinion: large numbers of highly damaging long range torpedoes coming in waves effectively zones off caps, promoting the passive play that we all hate. So the IJN 'ninja submarine' playstyle is counter-productive to a fun game (IMO). What IJN DDs need are decent torps and guns that are enough to make a DD duel come down to skill rather than 'I'm a gunboat, you're IJN, so I automatically win'. The guns should have a high fire chance (like the CAs) a rate of fire approaching Russian levels but not Gearing-tier and the good, flat arcs they have currently. They should also probably have a range boost but keep relatively slow-turning turrets as a balancing factor (although not BB-slow as they are now). I have a dream of IJN DDs that play like the Gremy or the Blyska but perhaps with slightly better stealth. I'd play the living cr*p out of them then and I'm pretty sure plenty of others would too. Giving the line a flavour and character of its own needn't mean that they have to be the diametric opposites of their peers - the cruiser lines in the game are all roughly similar but all have their unique little quirks to keep them interesting, so why not the DDs too? Just my two cents :3 -
Absolutely agree that there should be a BB matchmaking limit. The precise details would need working out through thorough testing but the only way to keep games fun for all the classes is to limit the Capitol ships.

Yeah Kutusov, Chapayev and Shchors all feast on BBs. The more the better. Same story for Zao at higher tiers. Just requires one to master the 'sit at long range spamming left click and occasionally turning' playstyle. -
OP: if you're going to continue playing this game, take some time to learn about it. Watch some YouTube videos and learn something. Otherwise you're going to further taint the reputation of an already maligned class playerbase.

I honestly don't believe BBs are 'low skill', especially at higher tiers. Positioning is vital and they don't have the speed, stealth or agility to extract themselves from a positional error like the other classes do. All they can do is slam it into reverse and attempt to back away as they receive a napalm shower/overmatching AP shells. This is part of the reason some less experienced people are so passive at high tiers - they're too worried about throwing their ship away by making a tactical error. Honestly I think the Zao (with the correct modules and skills) is a far easier ship to play. Juke shells, spam HE, sneak round CAs broadside and delete them then when someone dares to shoot back you just dodge the shells and hold fire until you're back in stealth. Then rinse and repeat. BBs will always be popular since (aside from a couple of CVs) they're the most famous IRL ships in the game, and something about massive ships with huge armour and guns will always appeal to that nerdy part of our brains which got us interested in warships to start with. The current 'overpopulation' issue is almost certainly due to the fact that we just got a new BB line. When the RN CLs arrive, I fully expect games to be stacked full of them, assuming they're not completely terrible. -
All the tier Xs need one, since presumably they're all 'keepers'. If they give Yamato some green abomination though I'll be one angry kitty >_<

I dunno, I really wouldn't want the pressure if it were me in that position since I mostly just get carried by division mates! Also some of the nastiest, most toxic players are 'try hards' with excellent stats and I really wouldn't want to be following their orders.

Cruisers at mid tiers could do with a little bit of a range buff or something, but at high tiers they're very strong. The exception would be the Russians, since they're all strong apart from maybe Svetlana. -
It's supposed to be a good ship so I recommend you stick with it. Get close and brawl stuff I guess, not really a complex gameplay style. I suck with it but I suck with most BBs :3

The only things they need to differentiate them from the US and Soviet ships are a few little quirks like maybe better concealment, longer AA barrage... maybe better agility too. Massive diametric differences lead to one trick ponies which are either great or utterly useless... -

1. Ships in this game go many hundreds of times what it says on your little nautical speedometer in the corner. It's an issue of scaling and it's been done to make battles happen at the pace they do. 2. Correct, it's a balancing mechanic and it's needed. But it's still absurdly ahistorical. 3. Carriers would launch their entire airgroup into an attack or their entire fighter compliment for CAP. Hundreds of aircraft at a time. Spacing and orientation were mostly the domain of the pilots, the ship didn't behave like a modern ATC system. 4. BB hit rates were below 4% IRL. They're over 25% for most players in this game. 5. Ahistorical though isn't it? Just as unrealistic as a cartoon girl sailing a DD. 6. I suggest you go mod yourself a copy of Pacific Storm Allies. It's a theatre-wide RTS centring on naval combat in WWII and with enough mods it turns into a pretty realistic game. It's also made by Lesta Studios (the guys who make this). Strange that such 'history buffs' don't actually know a great deal about history. Or about the game mechanics for that matter. -

Nagato is not a 'noob friendly' ship. Her tight groupings actually work against you if your aim is slightly out and she requires good angling technique to make the most of her armour. Once you get the hang of her though, she's boarder line OP in every area but AA. Her guns actually have similar (and at some ranges slightly better) penetration than the US tier X Montana. I wouldn't recommend buying Amagi until you've properly mastered Nagato, since Izumo and Yamato have exactly the same tight shell groupings and you'll struggle with them unless your aim is very precise.

If they had given her something, anything, different gameplay-wise I would have bought her in an instant. She is one of my favourite IRL warships, but as she is I just can't justify it.
