    Well, I have two views on that. If I wanted to change the design more extreme, I would agree with you, that it shouldn't be possible. But with the current version, I'm fine with it, because the operating depth is actually not the best depth for attacks. It's punishable by submarines, and ships with Depthcharges and ASW planes. Also if the ship is spotted, it drains DivCap As I said, if the ship is further away, you stay on surface anways. If they are a bit closer, you stay on periscope level. If they are too close, you go down to maxium depth and disengange. I rarely saw the operating depth as really useful.

    I devide my feedback into three parts. The first part is about, what I would change with the current design. The second part is about a change in the design itself or an addition. The last part will be about things, that I really like. Part one: Recommended Changes at the current design (PTS 10.7 Test 2) Depthcharge animation (orange shock waves) The orange shock waves of the depth charge are A) ugly B) unnecessary It's ugly, because it's more an "indicator"-like animation, not a realistic animation. It's unnescessary, because it doesn't give us any useful information. There is already an indicator, if a submarine is in range for DC or not. The shock-wave indicator is just pointless and ddesn't look good. But the most important is: It completly distracts from the beautiful explosion animation, because the orange shock wave is visually so dominating. I only see the orange shock wave and never really notice the real explosion. Solution: Remove that animation. ASW-Planes The animation is too fast, they fly too fast. It looks weird. Solution: Reduce the speed of the planes a bit, and compensate that with a closer spawning of the aircraft to the drop zone. Submarine-Hydro The Hydro of the submarines are stealth-radars. They can be used further than their own detection. This was bad for surface ships, and it's not better for submarines. Other submarines spot a submarine on long distance, and some DDs just use that information to kill a submarine without any counterplay option. Solution: The submarine-Hydro spots only for the submarine. No mini-map spotting or anything else. It makes no sense, that surface ship have access to that information of a submerged submarine. Part two: Changes of the design Two types of Torpedo armament (similar to AP and HE of surface ships) The acousting torpedos are only strong with a double ping on the enemy ships. Those are mostly only good, if the SS is on medium to long range, but even then, it's often very difficult for a submarine to get the torpedos through, because there are so many factors, that can make it impossible -Torpedos run into islands -DCP -Maneuvering -Timing (of torpedos and pinging) -Concealment The SS should get an option, when an acousting torpedo just wouldn't work, because of all these islands and additional factors. It should be a dumbfired (not homing), high damage torpedo for close range Acousting torpedo Damage: Low (non or single ping), very high (double ping, citadell) Speed: High Concealment: Bad (around 1.8km) Range: High (10-14 km) Homing: Yes Alternative torpedo Damage: High Speed: Slow Concealment: Medium (around 1.4km) Range: Low (3-5 km) Homing: No Two types of armament would give the submarine more options, especially in an island dominated map. Noise (Concealment) Currently the concealment depend on depth. I think a more realistic and immersive gameplay would be, if the concealment would be related to speed. Full speed - 100% concealment/Detection 3/4 speed - 85% concealment/Detection 2/4 speed - 65% concealment/Detection 1/4 speed - 50% concealment/Detection 0 speed - 0% concealment/Detection - silent running, invisible but also blind. This mechanic doesn't work on surface, only below periscope depth. Surface and persicope level have a fixed concealment like it is now. Anti air I think the anti air should be modelled because of: Immersion - it would just look great! Stylistic inconsistency - all ships have functional AA, even if the AA is so weak, that it makes no sense. (e.g. Asashio) Premium japanese submarine at release The japanese submarines might take a while, but please release as soon as possible a japanese premium early, so the japanese fans have something early on! Please, please, please! Part three: What I like! In the current test are some really good changes! Sonar ping speed on surface + sonar ping detection (4km) This change is awesome, that makes it way more comfortable to play the submarine on periscope level. And that is really great, before that, the periscope level was kinda useless, now I use it quite often! Thank you for that change! Attacking on different depth I like it, that now acutally every depth/level has it's own purpose. Surface level: Attacking here is, when it's safe and the SS wants also save some Dive Capacity. Periscope depth: Attacking here gives mobilitly (full speed) and better concealment (4km ping and around 2.5km default concealment) Operating depth: Attacking at that depth gives more protection against shells, though the submarine is slower, than on periscope level. Maxium depth: Attacking here gives maxium concealment and protection, with hydro the attacking is possible and even the pinging doesn't increase the concealment (stays on 0 km) So every level/depth has it's purpose, which is really great! Stats There are many stats on submarines, that are also displayed in the port. It's fun to work with these stats and having different national traits. (Ping width, ping speed, torpedo loader etc) Zoom-level and free-look Something I want for surfrace ships. The normal zoom-level is closer, while the free-look gives the maxium zoom out. I want that for surface ships, because being closer gives more immersion. (I know, I can zoom closer, but nobody does that, because it's like a disadvantage, being forced so close gives no option) Radar cruiser without ASW That's a very good decision especially for Clan Battles. Clan will have to decide, if they want radar ships or ASW ships. But Japanese cruiser should get Depth charge as well, imo. Aoba, Myoko, Atago with Depth Charges. Ibuki, Mogami and Zao with ASW planes H8K. Submerged -> Air and submarine concealment This change is not new in the current version, but I never mentioned it. I think, that is a very nice idea. A submerged submarine can only spot other ships with the air concealment, not with the surface concealment. I like that! Final words I want compliment the developers and analyst for the work. Most will say, they do it for the money, and yes, a company is doing it for the money, but I also think, that the developers and employees appreciate it, if someone appreciates their work. I like, that you guys implement submarines, and that you also consider feedback. You also took at lot type to improve the gameplay and in some tests, I actually thought, the implementation will be terribile. (TST #3 with infinite dive capacity was terrible imo) But after that it became better and better and the current version, I really like it! So take this compliment.

    Hm, actually it didn'T feel like, that submarines are overpowered. And torping from operating depth doesn't give mouch advantage over periscope depth, the only difference is the speed and that you can get hit by shells. But you say "from 8-10km" , I wouldn'T go to operating depth, if they are that far away. I would go on surface to save dive capacity, or I would go to periscope depth, if some ships are close by, but keeping my speed. If they are even too close for that, then I wouldn't stay at operating depth, but rather go to maxmium depth to hide completly and get the 0km detection for pinging

    the most annoying and stupid thing is still the submarine Hydro vs submarines. It's underwater-Stealth-Radar. It goes 7km-8km. Espcially when the enemy have a french DD. Those just shred other DDs, while engaging a submarine. The submarine Hydro should not spot in anyway for team mates, not even minimap

    Yes, makes no sense for the japanese, probably the russian should get good ASW instead, they had very strong navy with Stalin, Kremlin and Petro, right? I was more arguing about, they should get it balance-wise, to make those cruiser more competitive to others

    Wait, the japanese got the H8K? It was Catalinas for all at the beginning, can't believe, they changed that! Though would be great, if the Japanese would be the best in ASW as a national trait. The H8K counted as one of the best float planes. Giving the Heavy cruisers Aoba, Myoko and Atago DC and Mogami, Ibuki, Zao ASW Planes. That would give them more viability in competitive play

    or give carriers a different DCP consumable, which only works against fires, floods but not against pings. I mean we already have 2 types of DCP, those of the russians and the "normal" ones, same with smoke
  11. Subs can spot, and when there is no DD around, it'S even more likely, they do. Also what happens in a match with only 1 DD and no subs? No spotting at all ^^
  12. Eh, that's the point? Having high damage torps, non-guided torpedos, that are useable on short range. Those don't need the ping, so they are good for close range... xD The current torps need the ping for doing good dmg, otherwise they do very little dmg. So they are not optimal used on close range... why would I use them then on close range? That makes no sense ^^
  13. It's not jsut more damage, it's also the possibilty to launch them from very close at periscope depth without being spotted. (around 2.5km) That's actually how I would expect SS gameplay

    I was wondering, if it would be a good idea, to change the homing. For Example that the homing starts at 50% of the distance. For example, if a ship is 10km away, it will home at 5 km distance, before that, they move straight. This would allow to shoot a bit more around islands, because currently some maps feel terrible to play with all the islands

    I think it was more about, that Karasu is hitting islands sometimes, and I can relate to that feeling, that sometimes Islands are exactly placed, where I would tend to stay, if there wouldn't be an island. And Islands make homing torpedos actually more difficult, because the torpedos will always have a "lead" and if a ship keeps moving, the torpedos will run into an island. Also launching first torpedos and ping then often won't work, because there is mostly the option 1. Submarine pings and torpedos run into island 2. Torpedos pass island, but submarine can't ping, because ship is behind island A gap between that is rare. But the submarine will be on the unpopular side, I can tell you. Just by the nature of what a submarine is and unrelated to this game

    It seems, that the homing is way better for smaller ships, My torpedos didn't lock on a 2km distance bb. And around 2.5km they locked for a second, then stopped Ping is on them, but no homing-lines

    There should be a matchmaker condition, that you get only like 30% of the games bottom tier, or 40% I don't remember. But there was also a condition, that you need to play at least 20 games with that ship or something That's something I also like about CVs, but also that you don'r depend that much on your DDs Depends on what you mean with Naval Warfare. It's an arcade ship shooter, something like that. If you want real Naval Warfare, then you have to play some single player games, those have that more likely. And War Thunder is a bit more realistic, though the game modes are quite weak, only EC is kinda nice, but rarely available

    Well, it's hard to test it, so can't really 100% confirm it. But BBs often dodge my torpedos, so I kinda assume that And the change is probably for medium range, if the submarine is quite deep, but the surface ships is like 60m above the submarine. But overall it's quite hard to tell yet, what mechanic works in what way. I saw ships dodging my torps easily, but then also in some cases dodging didn't work.
  24. I think rather, that you don't understand the "misposition thing". Otherwise, if you really think, that this is misspositioning, then it's always mispositioning, as you you go into a 12km radius to an enemy.... I can just repeat: Submarines are slow and have short range, that makes them inflexible. DDs can go such risks, because of smoke and speed. There was no intel about their DD and no intel about their submarine. And you will never get this intel, unless a submarine will accidently run into them And btw, the ship detection is lowered, when a submarine is below surface. Oh and btw, I was reversing all the time, the DD never new, that I'm there and the DD was very fast away. The position of the DD resulted into the hydro of the enemy submarine. so you might get a wrong impression of the scenario to make it even more clear the issue: Submarines have stealth-underwater-radar
  25. Eh no my position is good there, but not if enemy submarines go aggressive. ALso that is a common defensive spot xD But also it makes no sense, what you are saying, because a submarine is slow, in case you didn't notice. I was max range torping ,but the DD and the submarine were not spotted, so as I said, no flexibility, as soon they spot me. But also "look where you team is", because I have a 40 knot dd and just adjust my self quickly? Where should I be else? There is no spot, Shall I push through? GUess what, that I'm in an extremly aggressive spot, and I would suffer maybe from the exact same fate... It has nothing to do with positioning, but with the speed + permaspotting......
