And back again: "At the same time, opportunities for attacks against ships that keep their AA on will remain the same." You read the "keep"? It's not about cease firing. It's about DDs, that keep the AA active the whole time? Not sure when you played WoWS the last time. But a DD becomes spotted in AA range, if AA is active. That won't change in future. It will remain the same.
-
Why would they? They have 2km concealment or better. Better concealment is still better. A skilled DD player won't have any issues to survive the CV. I played 100s of games with Asashio, even 2.4km is hard for CV players. 2.4km which is now considered as very good, will be in future a very bad concealment... Can you imagine that? xD In some unlucky situation maybe, but mostly not
-
Maybe read it again. it says "keep their AA on". They doesn't write "For DDs who activate and deactivate their AA". The 20s second rule don't apply, when the AA is active.... Lets buff the concealment of DDs, so the DDs get nerfed... Striking 1.5 km concealment DDs is so much easier, than 3 km concealment DDs. totally agree. Damn nerfs.
-
And then the air detection will be so low, that the CV will mostly not even fly into the detection range, and if they do, they can't attack. If the DD still choses the AA, the detection is only inside the AA range. Idk, but 1.5-2km detection is still better than 3-4 km detection and to be able to swap AA on and off in 2s The devblog says " At the same time, opportunities for attacks against ships that keep their AA on will remain the same. " I think its the correct consquence, if a DD makes a missplay, that he gets punished. Though in most cases even he gets rewarded with this chance, because lower concealment is better than higher concealment.

Why would you be stationary in a DD without smoke, when a CV is approaching you? Mostly you see planes from around 8 km, or was it more? Idk, but this is a huge buff. Play Asashio and you will get a slight taste of that, though it's 2.4km and not 1.5km. For me it's mind blowing, The 2.4km concealment is already good
-
When moving into a Smoke When helping an Ally. Lets say AP-DBs on a stationary cruisers When you want surprise kill the enemy planes. I mean isn't the AA good enough to kill a whole squad? Actually I don't understand why is this an issue for you, why would you activate your AA in an AA-DD if you don't want destroy the planes? The spotting works only for planes, so if they leave your AA radius, you are not spotted. And if they enter your AA radius, your AA is on, because you decided to activate the AA anyways? If you don't want use your AA you have it decativated in the first place. If you want kill the planes, your AA is active anyways? The change effects only when you go for a short blast
-
So the only purpose is to use their AA? You might missed the heavy concealment buff, you don'T need to use the AA, when the Planes cant find you. But also you can still use your AA, but maybe not when you are in a bad position. DDs without smokes can take them out in a few seconds? Though I would just move out of them, with 2km spotting range the fighters won't spot the DD before the enemy turns his squad.... Hope this change will go live, then you will see ^^

I disagree here, a pvp game has constant changes and reworks. Or is there any ship type, that never got a change? I mean the radar change last year with the spotting delay. You could say the same, "after years of radar, WG doesn't know what to do with this broken radar" Not saying, that WG always do a good job, but just because there are changes, doesn't mean someting is bad. The spotting technique would work still but 1. It works worse, because it's extremly hard/time wasting to find a DD with 1.2-2 km spotting range. 2. The CV won't be able to strike him effectively and only with blind-engages, which will be time wasting in most cases (Rocket planes becomes sluggish while an engage) So using this spotting technique is quite pointless in most cases. The only thing you get is a 1-3s spot every ~10-20 seconds. If a DD player is that bad and inexperiencend. then it's his own fault. This player has to learn basic gameplay. Normally people would even write "turn AA off". And if a player keeps being learning resitent, then he really deserves to die. No pvp game should reward bad players for being bad. There is no chance to "active AA", so why would you expect a change? That makes no sense.

We are talking about smokes, so we talk about DDs that have smoke. Those who have no smoke: They picked intentionally a DD without smoke, why would those complain, that they can't use a smoke? Beside that, they benefit a lot form the concleament change. They won't get dmaged by rocket planes, because the conleament is too low for a strike. Perma spotting is not possible, a CV can't fly above a DD that close. He can only fly over it for a few seconds. As I said, I play Asashio, this ship has 2.4 km aa concealment, at that is already very good. When all DDs go below 2km, this will be very hard for any CV.

Oof, staying with allies means not useless. Dying is useless. Why not playing a cruiser? Because a cruiser can't cap in a way like DD can. Idk what people always imagine, when we talk about staying with allies. Are you thinking about ramming a BB for 20 mins? When I play a DD and a CV is around, then I stay first with allies, when I see an opportunity, I engage, if not, I don't engage. Why would you suicide into a CV? ^^ You have allies, who can see the planes. Or just ask the CV for spot. Or wait until the fighters are away. Please don't the a single point as only option. You have to sum up all the points. - Smoke - Using AA to shoot down the planes, while CV or cruiser is spotting the fighter - Allied ship is close to give AA support (or just spots the fighter) - Concealment is ~1.5 km, the smoke is 2 km long or even longer - Smoke lasts in many cases longer than fighters. Considering all that together, how useful are fighters really in future? I mean even now the most points work.
-
The new function is only about deactivating the AA, not about keeping the AA on. If a bad player keeps the AA on, nothing changes for him with this change. Just to make it clear. When a DD has it's AA on, he will be spotted inside of the AA range. There is no change. When a DD has it's AA on (firing), but deactivates it, then he will have the AA range as concleament range for 20s. This is the new change.

10-12 to the enemy ships? I would never go that close, if it's too dangerous. So "always" is a wrong word here. If there are 3 Moskwas, why would you go 10-12 km close? Just as an example. It's poor positioning, if the DD doesn't play according to the conditions. If a DD wants to spot or cap, when there are clearly radar ships and CVs around, then it's not smart to waste the ship just for the try.
-
He can, but -Fighters last 60s without mod. Most smokes go longer. -The air detection will be so low, that you might can leave the smoke on one side, that you don't even get spotted.** -Allies can shoot them -DDs can kill them, Fighter have very low hp, the full squad is somewhere around 1k-2k hp **I did a test, where I moved full speed, then popped smoked and slowed down at the same time. I wasn't at the border of the smoke, but to the rear end it was 1.24 km (Asashio air concleament now 2.4 km, 1.2km with change). So dragging the smoke a tiny bit longer makes fighter already useless ^^ If I do the Smoke a bit more effiecnt I get around 2km (moving first full speed, slowing down to 1/4)
-
Both has impact, the spotting and the rocket dmg... If you get spotted, but no damage from rockets, than the CV needs allies to dmg the DD. So with this change the DD surviblity increases. Beside that, it's even harder to find a DD in the open. Keeping a DD perma spotted won't be possible, unless spotting for 3 seconds is perma spotting for you^^ Aggressive play is more possible. If you go for cap and CV want spot you, you use smoke. So I don't see an issue there.
-
DDs can go dark with smokes. So using smoke in cap gives the DD easy possiblities to cap, after the cap he leaves and is hard to find again. Even if the CV somehow manages to find the DD, he won't be able to strike him with that detection So it's a big chance. No dmg (mostly) from Planes, reduced spotting by planes. I'm excited to see that
-
Sure you can figure it out. But how worth is it? I play Asashio a lot, that ship has already a very good concealment with 2.4 km and in future every DD has even better concealment. It was almost impossible to hit the Asashio, if she moves towards the planes. In future it will be impossible to drop any DD, only lucky blind-engages make hits possible, and that will make is so unreliable, that a CV might never go for a DD: It's a waste of time. I like this change, I think the DDs will get a comeback for competitive play.
-
AA and secondaries don't reveal the position of a DD (Though you see the tracers, but I don't count that as revealing like in getting spotted)
-
with 1.2km - 1.5km it's very hard to every find a DD. Also dropping fighters is less effective, since the fighters are not following the DD, just cycling around. I think that's a very heavy buff for the DDs Read the second part. The DDs get twice as good detection. Going with Shima, she has now 3km against AA. In future it will be 1.5km. Asashio has 2.4 km and becomes 1.2 km Those ship won't be able to get striked, unless they make the mistake to activate AA or the CV has to do a blind engage, but this is also very difficult, since the rocket planes become extremly sluggish, when they start engaging. When I play Asashio, it's almost impossible to drop them for most players even now, with 1.2km, that's mind blowing.
-
I actually like that change, because it makes the AA more and more like main guns. Maybe we get to some point, where you have to aim your AA manually someday :D CVs will be also less a counter to DDs. Should be impossible to hit a DD with rockets, if the DD is somehow above average level.

Jemand Überlebens Tipps Für Schlachtschiff Liebhaber?
Pikkozoikum replied to Banditoz79's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
You can't blame the "*EDIT*", there is no skill match maker and it's quite easy to promote in rank sprint.

Rejoice - let the CV AP nerf come to pass!
Pikkozoikum replied to Gvozdika's topic in General Discussion
What I'm saying: Stalin gets indrectly a buff. They won't just keep picking Stalingrad, they will even more pick the Stalingrad... That's the point I try to tell xD Right now you could even go with more Venezias than Stalingrads, but this will maybe change. Especially when Haku is now worse, and in the case that Midway is no a better pick, then the Venezia and non-stationary crusiers get more punished by this change, than a very tanky battle cruiser. So the losers are all, but not the Stalingrad. -

Pikkozoikum replied to Gvozdika's topic in General Discussion
That's a contradiction. It's wrong, that Haku gets picked because of stationary cruisers, but they pick Haku, because it's best CV at "pushing stationary Cruisers"? What I said is not wrong and I guess you didn't understand my issue. There are 3 dominated ships. Venezia, Stalingrad and Haku. Now they nerf 2 of 3. What is the conclusion of that? Will we have now more CLs? More DDs? Or more Stalingrads? -

Why are you quoting me then, when you talk about CV vs BB? I was never talking about that. I was talking about the 3 meta picks Haku, Stalingrad, Venezia. -

Actually that they generally don't nerf premiums is stupid and deadly for a pvp game. In a pvp game you have constantly changes and meta differences, so everything should be able to get change. And in the buisness conditions it is written, that they are allowed to change stuff and their is no refund requirement. So technically they could nerf those without any law breaking. As far as I know
