High tier gameplay: Random DDs with better AA than Yamato????
Pikkozoikum replied to KubiG37's topic in General Discussion
That's how it tis called. isnt it? The point is, the Yamato has like 70 AA guns, so shouldnt the potential dmg be very high? -
Make CV Work within normal Gameplay Mechanics.

My idea a while ago was, to split the damage from the spotting off. Attack planes and bombers can't spot - so they still can attack like before ,but now the surface ships can focus on maneuvering without taking broadsides. Additionally a recon plane gets added. This plane can spot and to make it interesting, it gets an "attack run" just like torpedo bombers, but instead of droping torpedos, the plane goes into a binocular observation mode, where the recon plane can mark a target. This target gets an debuff, while the recon observes on dispersion, lets say 20% less dispersion. Damage done on that target gets also added to the damage of the CV (or 50% of it). The counter to those plane are DDs and CLs, since a single recon plane is faster shot down, than fighter squads -

Nope, that's different form game to game. In some they are too strong, in stome they are balanced, and in some they are too weak. Generalization doesn't work here Yes, they might have higher impact, but still less than in RTS and one ship type will be always the ship with the highest impact. That's nature of pvp games with very different classes. -
So sollte der Sound sich durch die Zieloptik anhören, wenn man ein Schiff trifft.

CW Boykott durch Clans wegen CV´s
Pikkozoikum replied to muelltonne_steel's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen

Sounds a bit pretty weird, when a CV gets magically spotted, because planes attack/return. CV would even more move to the border and then they have no risk, just more delay. I don't see an issue with this kind of game design, that a CV doesn't have to risk his hull. That type of class exists in many games of different genres. -
High tier gameplay: Random DDs with better AA than Yamato????
Pikkozoikum replied to KubiG37's topic in General Discussion
Though to be correct, the Yamato should get like 50% more AA dmg, but also something like 50% hit chance. Then it would be more "realistic" A lot aa, which doesn't do much -

The existance and usage is historically, how they work in game is part of the game design. Otherwise it's also unhistorically, that Tirpitz is hitting/sinking ships... xD But Tirpitz is still historically. -

You compare a CV early spot + BB max range shot with a 3km spawnpoint at an enemy CV with Subs? That's such a bad example... and you talking about "codswallop" How often does a BB one shot a cruisers in the first minute, how often would a SS kill a CV at 3 km range? -

Because you do that every match, right? Idk, if this would be a broken mechanic, we could go with the starting delay for CVs, but Wargaming tested that, and they are against it. So it's a wished design. You could say everything is a missplay, as soon someone gets a big hit, but also you can say, it's mostly not a missplay. If a DD spots a cruisers, and a BB one hits the cruiser, then you can say, it's a missplay, he got spotted. But then, there are enough cases, where it's acctually not a missplay, but a risk, that has to be taken or being useless in the match. So it depends. Though it's actually about Enterprise, and I'm still the opinion, there should be a competitive balance patch only for the competitive modes (ranked, CB), where premiums get adjusted -

When the CV gets you in such a vulnerable spot, then it's also your own fault. Otherwise you are an a good spot and you can take some dmg, same like you would take some damage, when you are angled and still take pens and overmatches. -

Then Enterprise could get nerfed? I mean if it's special and not premium -

Also the drop has to hit. Rocket planes might be easier to hit those, though they are also squishy and the tool against DDs, wasting them might be not smart either. -

Hmm, since they don't nerf Premiums, they should make a competitive balance patch for competitive modes like CB or ranked. The premiums get a balance patch, for randoms it stays -

Would be better, though right now we have only a matchmaker by nation. The game tries to get same nation vs same nation. That's why we can get 3 moskwas vs 3 smols :D -

I think that's often an issue. There were CV hating threads before the rework, too. Also in ranked they were hated. But that's a while ago, so some people don't remember that. I think this is also a hot topic because of two major reasons that meet. CVs are generally not liked, and the rework is new. People are often against new stuff, if that changes too much out of their routine. So it kinda multiplies the intensitiy. Imagine the new ru CLs would have smokes. That would kinda cause the same, you would get hate because of smoke+he spam but also radar. Those stuff can make it more intense, if you add multiple hot topics. -

I play Asashio, a ship with 2.3 km air concleament, and even that is already hard to hit. With 1.5 km the CV has to start the engage way earlier blind. There is way more opportunities for the DD to avoide that by turning around. I don't know all the rocket planes, but the IJN ones get very sluggish after starting the attack. I would like to see a video about that, but I can' imagine how DDs will be an easy target for CVs after that. Right now the CV can often attack in reaction, when the DD is spotted and not blind. If he has to attack blind, then it's mostly only a few 100s meters, and not kilometers. Also Fighter will have more issues to spot the dd -

It can still be a damage dealer, it will only grant a bit less of damage rushing, than actually going for tactical damage and engages. Secondly, I would actually prefer, if it's not a pure damage rush, and more tactical. Not sure about that. I mean you had the same with the RTS, the bad and average are losing their planes quite frequently and would have those waiting times all the time. Also, were those timers are not like 3 minutes or something? I don't remember. It's up to the CV to do a rush or maybe more observe and looking for a good opportunity. If the timer is too long, reduce it, if the timer too short, make it longer. If a CV rushes in and loses all planes, then he decided to do that, instead of using the preparation timer wisely. It's kinda the same with surface ships, you can shoot all the time for max dpm and die fast, or maybe stay save and wait for good opportunities. -

The 90 seconds are only a generic example, could be 120s, 500s. What ever fits. The values should not be the content of a discussion, it's just about the damage race, that I don't like. It's obvious, if you take longer, than the timer, than you will be slower. Sure, but right know you have that with any second, that you take longer. -

Hope this will come soon. Though I would also like, if they add some kind of Delay or Preparation to the Squads, which runs, while using a squad. Somethlike, after starting a squad, the next squad needs to be prepared for, lets say 90s. The effect would be, that you can use the active squad, while the timer is running and the CV won't be forced into a damage race. Because that's one aspect, that I actually don't like, the damage racing. I would rather like if there is no time pressure, and more about tactical engagement, which target, where, at which situation. The bad thing about this would be, if a new loses his squad somehow, he has to wait a long time xD -

If people are that bad, then it's not an issue of the CV, more a lack of knowledge about basic mechanics. What else you want do? You could give all all DDs with <40% WR 100m air concealment :P -
See, those game mechanics exist. So it could be in WoWS as well, I was wrong, as I stated earlier, though I was never talking about engine room =)
-
Which I already wrote. I repeat, since you didn't quoted the full comment: I assumed, that the smokestack also counts engine module, not as engine itself or engine room, just as a game mechanic to define an area, where a player can handicap a ship by hitting the hit boxes. This assumption is not stupid, or which would justify a facepalm gif, because it can be a game mechanic. If I'm not wrong, in WT you can damage the smoke stack, which causes a loss in speed Here a quote from WT " Smokestacks on destroyers can now be critically damaged. After a smokestack is damaged, engine power is reduced". So, I was not talking about the engine room, so no idea why that gif and assumption ;)
-
Engine room? I was talking about the engine module, not the engine room. I thought the smoke stack counts as engine module, though I tested it, and it doesn't. So this facepalm gif is actually rude. It wouldn't be even unlikely, that this game designs the smokestack also as engine module. I would assume a ship can't move full speed with a destroyed smoke stack? But for my argumentation it actually doesn't matter, since bbs like Yamato have 50mm armor, which is worse, because that means, there is space, that can't be damaged with IJN rockets.
