Here you go: Also yes, most people (at least whom I've met in CB, so higher gold / typhoon clans right now) seem to use range not reload. Probably because of how far back you have to be to avoid being permaspotted and spammed to death by everyone She doesn't have DM autobounce angles you mean spending another 10s after your 20s reload to switch amo? That's 30s. Remind me, how many salvos can a Moskva fire in 30s?

Amagi has jsut as good armour as ships like Republic and Conq. That comes with being a t8+. In fact, thanks to her bulges, sleek profile and turret layout, she can be even tankier than some higher tier BBs, especially when it comes to fighting off HE Also turtleback for close range fights Just don't give your broadside to anyone unnecessarily (stay angled) and the only BBs you have to be a afraid of become the Yamato class
-
It's not as it's taken into their balance. Just remember that Gneisenau, Scharnhorst, Mutsu and Kii are the torp BBs and you'll be fine If you're at t5 - t6 isn't that far off. But if you're not in a hurry to get her - actually playing t6 so you get the feel from the MM, or maybe even getting the Nagato (as Mutsu is a Nagato class BB - just an older version of that) to get the feel for the ship might make for a better gameplay experience for you Overmatching is when your shell can go through the armour plate regardless of angle. It's calculated as caliber divided by 14.3 (always rounded down) Normally shells auto-bounce at 60 degrees away from perpendicular, but with overmatch they'd still go through For example the 356mm guns of Kongo can overmatch 356 / 14.3 = 24.8.... = 24mm armour. Kongo herself has 19mm bow plating, this means that regardless of angle Kongos AP shells will go through her bow armour. This is why in low & mid tier BBs you tank by angling your belt not going straight bow in Meanwhile overpenetrations are your shell simply entering and then exiting the target. 2 ways of this happening - either your AP shells fuse didn't arm (target was too thinly armoured) or your shell was traveling so quickly it just passed through the enemy ship before it could explode CVs & AA are getting a full rework in about 2-ish weeks, so I wouldn't invest too much time in them right now Mostly prediction & luck. Torpedoes do have some spread in them, as well as the targets ability to change speed and / or movement direction Standard - high tier cruisers if spec'd for it. Premium - t8 BB Kii But again, all of this is likely to change with the mid-January patch Watch some tutorials Don't expose your side, or at least do it as rarely as possible Fire AP as long as it's not a bow-on GK or a DD that you're shooting at Just like on all BBs - don't underestimate concealment builds (also building tanky helps a lot) Something like that Right now - not particularly. In next patch - we'll have to see, probably still no IJN DDs (the Shimakaze line) are torpedo DDs, but their torpedoes are spotted from the moon. The Harugumo line's much stronger, but they are pure gunboats with some torp capability from t8 and up. Meanwhile US DDs are gunboats which (especially at high tiers) still get very capable torpedoes From... t6 up I think. Also for all premium ships, and then some even camos. You'd have to buy it for each ship in the exterior -> camouflages section But don't fall for the "cheap" gold camos like Type59, those still are single use. Permacamos prices start at 1000 doubloons

Lets give you yet another example of how exactly you are wrong For simple references lets say that X axis is stern-to-bow, Y axis is going sideways (beam), and Z axis is height above the water 1st of all I have to remind you that aiming higher or lower (as long as you are locked on the target) is you aiming on Z axis not Y axis, so no, you don't get to choose your ellipses near side to be closer to the target while pushing the far side further away (which would just make you miss more anyway as sigma pushes your shells towards the center which you would be intentionally disconnecting from the ship, but whatever) Next up, ships I'll use for this will be Bismarck as target (250.5m length (653.8m in game), 36m beam (94m in game)), and Amagi as the ship firing (R*7.2+84 = h.disp, lets use wowsft given min v.disp. as her v.disp at any range for simplicity = 605m) Lets say distance is 15km -> Amagis h.disp is 192m or tighter than Bismarck IRL not even talking about the scaled up ship we have in game. According to your logic that would be 100% hitrate. At 15km Amagi impacts horizontal surfaces (like water) at 74.98 degrees (where 0 = perpendicular) or 15.02 degrees (where 0 = parallel) - I'll use the parallel look at it. Now going back to the v.disp (which would actually be larger, mind you) of 605m -> Bismarck's at the center, so we should split in into 2 halves of 352.5m. From this we can calculate that shells can go as high as 94.6m above the Bismarck in a case where we're being super optimistic about the v.disp.. I don't know exact Bismarcks heights, but going from its proportions in game I'll take 15.3m for deck and 94m for top of the highest rangefinder with 45.5m being the general top for most of the superstructure (these would be heights in game, so with the 2.61 size multiplier already in them) If you have exact values - please share, I'll use those Note how 94.6m clears all of those, even the highest point of the ship. And that's not even talking about trying to hit that on superstructure or below the deck a.k.a. on the hull. Also that's while aiming at the waterline without you elevating your Z axis off of it And yes, this is incredibly over-simplified, but I'm not convinced you'll understand even this much. So clearly, V.disp. is completely irrelevant. She is accurate. Warspite might be slightly more accurate (also has 8 guns btw), not sure, but nothing else can contest PEF in this regard.
-
Horizontal is the smallest component, and it differes between ships with laughably small numbers I already gave you an example - German / French / Italian BB H.disp. at PEFs max range is 2.44m (that's two point forty-four meters) smaller than dispersion of US / RN (except Warspite) . VMF BBs at that same range. And that's before you mount ASM which the t6 US BBs doesn't even get making German H.disp. tighter than US dispersion up to and including t8. Also it starts with 6m at 0km, so not only that 2.44m won't change absolutely ANYTHING but the difference also gets smaller and smaller with distance. Meanwhile the massive length that your V.disp. can be is where your accuracy comes in. This is the important value. Or landing your shell half a kilometer before and / or behind the target while aiming directly at him. You mean 6...2m worse horizontal combined with amazing vertical? Yeah, clearly terrible Or are you comparing the horizontal to IJN only? At that point every single BB which isn't IJN has terrible H.disp.

Same answer as to everyone else: Recognize the problem Alt Tab out of the game Open Task Manager, kill the game through it Launch the game back up, use Safe Mode if you have any mods installed You'll load back into the match and will (nearly guaranteed) be able to play, just that you arrive with a slight delay compared to others Better to be 5min late than AFK the whole match

New Japanese AP bombs penetration testing (quick-and-dirty)
wilkatis_LV replied to IBloomJustForYou's topic in General Discussion
% of hits as citadels added would have helped to paint the picture From your numbers: But yeah, with average of 18.4 bombs per target that's a really small sample size, could have been purely a lucky / unlucky run -
You mean HORIZONTAL dispersion, the short arm of the ellipse, right? Because IJN V.disp. is anything but good, and this is where PEF wins massively over any of them. Plus ofc the 2.0 sigma, but that matters quite a bit less

World of Warships: Year in Review - Discussion Thread

"Reduced number of DDs per team" You show screenshot of 6 DDs per team which was only possible after someone waited in queue for over 5min. Guess, what, IT STILL WORKS THIS WAY. Your reduction was for the 1st 3min of the queue time from soft cap of 5 down to "we introduced soft cap" of 4 Also while we're at it, why were 5 DDs too much and had to be reduced, but 5 BBs nearly every game isn't touched? -
Game settings wouldn't be part of tutorials, would they now? Especially since it's down to personal preference of what you select and what you don't?

Why bother support when there's Forums where you can ask other players for advice on stuff like this? Forums will also be faster and may bring additional info, just as it has been done in this case

Should all battlecruisers be in the cruiser class?
wilkatis_LV replied to aph_73's topic in General Discussion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_B-65_cruiser Armour. Does the ship get base plating from BBs or cruisers of the tier? That same is the role it's assigned. Or at least it looks that way -
Only HORIZONTAL. Veritcal is massively better, and Bayerns 1.8 sigma combined with that V.disp. actually falls far behind PFEs 2.0 Alone? Nearly no impact. Well, depends on differences really. For example Kii has 0.1 less sigma than Amagi with perfectly identical dispersion values. This will lead to 1% if not less difference in hits landed over large number (identical on both sides) of shells Meanwhile Fuso vs Yamato (identical H, different V - not sure how different tho) with their 0.6 sigma difference at 15-ish km Yamato would land about 10% more hits than Fuso from the same number of shells fired 0.2 sigma on it's own isn't much of a difference, but it still means more consistency I'm not sure, it might be. I'm not quite sure how to test it. It definitely feels like PFE is turning far tighter than it should (I swear, that's not 800m, it's waaaaaaaaaaaay less), but I could be wrong. We know nearly nothing about it apart from the AAs concept. So either you talk about what we have now or you can do nothing more than guess Still fine vs 7s. Vs 8s - you're a t6, of course you'll do badly no matter what [super lucky games excluded] But it's at t6. You can easily keep up with your 8s while most 6s are left behind in the dust ...is often irrelevant on BBs as going for a single strong hit is more beneficial than scratching the enemy with 50 bounces because you wanted to fire as soon as you could No it doesn't Reload's irrelevant as 28s is already good, and that pen would only let you to play her exactly like you do now... but from a larger distance. Get yourself a keyboard, grow a pair and learn to get closer than 14km from enemies in your BBs

Took me a while to figure this out myself when i first discovered it I think the penny finally dropped for me when I saw this on... could have been like 3rd of 4th ship with this "problem" @Loran_Battle Read what I wrote in the post #6

Milan, you do know this is Europe not west coast of NA, right? EUs WoWS site is .eu not .com
-
As soon as you recognize you're stuck in loading screen (usually is pretty obvious) shut your game down through task manager, then launch it back up in safe mode. You'll load back into the match and will (most likely) be able to play, just without any mods. But yeah, that seems to be a bug in this (maybe last aswell?) patch
-
Based almost purely on RNG and what ships have you both selected. Good luck in an NC vs an Assashio Bow on Montana vs bow on Montana. The most exciting game in the history of WoWS So, yeah, defnitely no. Would never work. Unless, of course, you're my enemy every single time. Boy would that be easy win farming

I'm so used to just relocking the target manually that I can't event ell if something has changed Isn't that just the "magical high shells from a close range shot" bug?
-
Do you have Gun Fire Control System upgraded? You can't use A hull with that, which is why the A hull doesn't show anything next to it, including price Do you have Torpedoes upgraded? You can't use A hull with that, which is why the A hull doesn't show anything next to it, including price Also @Ze_Reckless ^ It's not the most obvious thing ever that WG has done. If they don't show up in inventory - your modules are already sold. It's just WG being WG and them failing to introduce some obvious thing that would point out that "you can't mount this"

PSA: Concealment nerf coming up in 0.8.0, hitting mainly cruisers
wilkatis_LV replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, the ships affected the least by this change clearly are hit the most Hell, in case like Moskva she gains the ability to outspot GK and Yamato Chapaev, even after the change It's height related. If the cruiser is higher then the BB, it gets spotted from further away. As simple as that Don't forget to say hello to rockets lol -
Public Test of Update 0.8.0 - Discussion Thread

You drunk m8? We are already playing 0.7.12 for a full week, PTS round 2 ended like 2...3 weeks ago -
Oh I know that feeling Promoted to a kiting BB Except when you own a keyboard, they they become rather good Define bad. They're rather interesting, at least I think so. A weird combination of slow shells, but they don't quite go sky high. They keep way lower than I expected for their speed, makes shooting over islands a bit more tricky Never used ASM, guns still are damn accurate ...is enough to pen BB main belts up to about 13...14km and everything else up to your max range Alabama? Arkansas Beta? S.Cal? Warspite? Lion? Bellerophon? Those 6 (of whom 1st 3 you have played more than PEF) are not BBs? ^ can be said about EVERY BB in the game. Every single one. Except that it's not AA is capable to take down even quite a lot of Hiryus planes before they reach you, not even talking about t6 or t5 CVs. And that's with only AFT and BFT boosting it, nothing more Ofc, this will be irrelevant as of next patch Yeah, 7.56km at t6 is sooooooo short Playing a battlecrusier (especially one in BBs slot) as a cruiser = you are clearly doing it worng I'm wondering if the turning radius is bugged or it just feels like it because of ships length? She turns way tighter than she should 28 (29.5) kts is good even at t8 H. Disp - standard german / french / italian BB At max range is whole 2.44m worse than US / RN / VMF BBs dispersion Unlike US BBs can mount ASM so at max range would have 14.4m better dispersion that US BBs at this range V. Disp - really good, unlike what germans normally have Sigma - 2.0 Matched by QE sisters 0.2 ... 0.5better than anything else on this tier Nice to see you know what you're talking about Thanks, but not quite Monarch was too much for me This. Same as when Aigle was released - a balanced ship, everyone went mad over her not being super strong. Balanced is good, every ship doesn't need to be a GC (in fact, no ship ever should be a GC) Focus cruisers not BBs and you are perfectly capable of making that difference. I've said it before - dealing with t8 BBs isn't a t6 BBs job. Tell that to my Dreadnoughts and Fireproofs in that ship. Don't go broadside, don't go directly bow in. As long as you're angled PEF's really tanky
-
You know, if you started to quote what you are answering to instead of the whole post, your answers would be quite a bit more readable Yeah, you clearly didn't Because so many ships can go through 50mm bow plating. Oh, w8 A lucky shot will bow-cit a Stalingrad aswell. But that's nothing reliable, just like shooting a bow-on Moskva Is nothing more than lower part of her main belt, right below the 180mm strip, not visible from side because it's behind the underwater torpedo bulge (so it itelf is fully below water) Here's a paint sketch of the cross-section: Sooooo.... Ok, I'd like to see your sources for that? I haven't seen any exact citadel heights listed anywhere, would be interesting to see them. Please share I know. And you called that spaced for some reason. See 1st screenshot in this post Graf Spee? Kronshtadt? Or from the upcoming - Alaska (which you mentioned)? Azuma? For a single shell? Yeah, 33% for a single shell ain't bad. But when you look at how many fires can she set over a minute... At least she beats Mino, aye? Hindy has 42k more HE DPM. Even if Stalingrad runs reload and Hindy doesn't, that's still a 25.6k difference. So no, no it doesn't. Yeah, 1 game played where you did absolutely nothing and got carried clearly is enough experience for you to proclaim her better than Moskva and OP. Clearly. Btw, you didn't even manage your Moskvas av dmg in that one... Refer to the white table above ^ 0.04 more fires per minute is a clear and undeniable advantage! Sigma is a chance. Higher sigma = better chance of being closer to the center more often. Doesn't mean you won't magically get typical BB derp dispersion. Yeah, no. Just look at the last screenshot above ^ In your experience of whole 1 game played Yamato without legendary is far more accurate than Montana Which means your enemies were useless, not that your ship was OP or even remotely strong. Congratulations, you escaped from a bunch of low-40 percenters, you can be proud of yourself now.
-
Here's a special one for everyone who said something along the lines of "Buy it and play it yourself, then you'll see how bad the ship is!" (EU ranking with 30+ games played, on WoWS Numbers) All I can say to you is - thank you for recommending this amazing t6 ship, absolutely was worth my money. Tanky, quick, maneuverable, AA that doesn't get easily knocked out, accurate... and most of all fun as long as you're not fighting 8s, but hey, no t6 is fun vs 8s. P.S. Normandie's still better
-
You kidding, right? Stalingrad is about 10% longer than Moskva. With Stalingrads length listed as 273m Moskva would be about 250, which also fits the blueprints provided in Wiki. That approx 25m difference multiplied by 2.6 ship scaling is 65m length difference in game. That's about 2 Gearings side-by-side added as extra length. Just 8 times more than your guesstimate, "nothing special" That means there's far more deck to hit with HE. Also as I said due to her being fatter her armour has worse natural angles than Moskvas armour Also you missed height. Maybe not exactly too obvious from those screenshots, but way higher aswell. And you forgot to tell me where you found that spaced armour on her? Still pretty sure there is none Internal decks and bulkheads are not spaced armour They are just internal layers Not against a BB Yay, super long range cruiser AP will be less effective, not like they will HE spam you at those ranges anyway Also btw DM goes down to 180mm vertical plate pen at 17.2km. Hindy at 14.5km. Zao at 20.1km. Why would any of those still fire AP at you from those distances in the 1st place? It's not, in fact you eat quite a lot of those. The sort-of turtleback armour on the front (the one you referred to as spaced armour) only protects the citadel. And even then it doesn't make it impossible, jsut kind-of unlikely in most cases. Not Moskva, that 50mm goes up so high it's a bounce or an overpen on the top of the bow She's a battlecruiser, not a cruiser. Since they're not separated out they sometimes are put in BB lines, sometimes in CA lines. General difference for placement seems to be armour, and I'm pretty sure Stalingrad doesn't have 32mm plating. Unless, of course, you want her to be a t7? And she does. Go back to any older Stalingrad thread and re-read what's written there, I'm not going to repeat it all again And yet that's the only amo she can reasonably use, her HE is practically useless. Angle and you're safe, unless you are a Mino. But then that goes for Mino vs a Henri aswell.
