Dispersion - it's worse than it seems
wilkatis_LV replied to wilkatis_LV's topic in General Discussion
IJN thing tends to be a really tight horizontal (left-to-right from shooters perspective) dispersion, and Zao has that at DD levels Their problem is the vertical component (front to back from shooters perspective) as it's quite elongated. So Zao would have a rather thin, but rather long strip where its shells land. Sadly enough it being a rather old ship LWM hasn't done such a review on it, but since she does old ships every once in a while some day we might get the answer That's already a thing. In those pictures the ship shooting is off to the right side of the image not below it (I did mention it in the post), simply the long axis of dispersion ellipse is aligned with the long axis of the screen Here's a gif from her Roma review, you can see where those shells are coming from -
Everything written here is based on LittleWhiteMouses work of mapping ships dispersion patterns, thanks her for that Disclaimer: this is not me trying to say that something she has done / shown / written is wrong. Quite the opposite - I'm aiming to add more information to what's already known I'm sure most if not all of you are familiar with LWMs format: 15km, locked onto a Fuso, something like 180 shells mapped, the ship firing is to the right side of the image (not below it). Just a reminder of how that looks: Nice pictures, sure, but I wanted to put some numbers behind them. Lets go with PEFs one as the example here simply bcuz that's 1st one I chose to check, but after testing the same points on multiple others I can say that this isn't just some magical exception We can compare the width of Fuso with the width of the dispersion area in the image by simply measuring them: From that we get their size ratio to be x5.355 Fusos beam is listed as 28.65m, so with the x2 ship size scaling (or was it x2.61? - whoever knows leave it in comments, I'll probably edit the wrong one out) that would be 57.3m (or 74.8m) in game. This gives us horizontal dispersion of 307m (or 401m) Where's the problem? German BBs horizontal dispersion is calculated as Range[km] * 9.8 + 66 = H.Disp[m] In case you're curious, list of "how you calculate h.disp." for all ships: So from that we get 15 * 9.8 + 66 = 213m What we have practically vs what we "should" have had is x1.44 (or x1.88) larger This means that dispersion area, as bad it might have been expected to be already by the numbers given to us... is actually quite a bit worse. Noticeably worse. When asked about it LWMs answer was: Which certainly makes sense. Quite sad, but makes sense. So now when you know your chances of hitting the target are even worse than you might have previously expected - happy hunting P.S. I wonder how this affects CV drop ellipses for bombs and rockets? Today - about an hour ago from me posting this - Fara uploaded video showing the reworked Hoshos gameplay, and there he managed to slingshot an AP bomb way out of the ellipse...

Is it now time to claw back all our cash?
wilkatis_LV replied to GBDarkAngel's topic in General Discussion
Beta ended well over 3 years ago, mid-September 2015 Game constantly being developed gaining new bugs, what a surprise. Totally doesn't happen in any other game that gets new updates Also not all old bugs are easy to catch / important enough to pay much attention to them Aimbots are useful if you are extremely bad at aiming and you are shooting at people who are extremely bad at controlling their ship. If even 1 of those sides goes above "extremely bad" in their skill - aimbot becomes completely useless It can't predict anything like a human would, and it can be dodged just like any other salvo -
Dispersion - it's worse than it seems

Probably not. But we can always tag the usual suspects like @MrConway and @Crysantos so they can maybe poke the devs a little bit (Conway, Crysantos - check the opening post, that's what we're interested in) Was there a NA discussion aswell? That LWM quote came from PMs -
Captain - I'd say FP, and then the remaining 2 points on HA (as you have improved version on your capt) / JoaT (normally a better skill than HA) / AR - whichever of these 3 you prefer Upgrades - I don't see much point in buffing Stalins AA, so aiming because being more accurate is nice. And dmg con / rudder is purely a question of preference. However, I'd recommend the dmg con

Yes and no. Secondary build is great, but Manual Secondaries are completely wasted on any t6 and below ship, instead of that you kinda really want Concealment Definitely works with that, yeah. Fires do seem to end up being the largest source of dmg you take, despite of how healable they are For any AA build wait for the rework and then see if it's worth it, as it probably won't. If you want to have fun with secondaries dedicated captain probably would be the best way to go, at least in my oppinion 1p - PT / PM (question of preference) 3p - EM 6p - BFT 10p - Concealment 14p - AFT --------------------------- For the last 5 points I see 3 potential ways: FP + PT / PM (whichever you didn't pick at 1p) BoS (shorter fires) + JoaT / AR (question of preference) DE (even more secondary fires) + JoaT / AR (question of preference) In accuracy between t6 BBs PEF's only rivaled by Warspite, and I'm still not sure which of them actually gets the upper hand. Probably Warspite, but it's going to be close Ironic how the t6 BB that everyone refers to as accurate - Warspite - also has 8 guns just like PEF Actually it's quite average caliber. Before the Bayern and QE class 356 (basically same as 350s) was as high as it went at t6 Also French go quite a bit lower, doesn't seem to be much of a problem for them ...is as good as it gets for similar caliber guns. PEF - 350 - 28s Fuso - 356 - 28s NewMex - 356 - 34.2s Arizona - 356 - 35s Normandie - 340 - 30s Dunkek - 330 - 28s ...is perfectly fine, especially with EM which you pick on every BB anyway This ship doesn't need any buffs. For once WG releases normal, balanced premium and everyone goes ape because it's not broken OP. If I recall correctly the exact same happened with Aigle and Kii *sigh* WG's finally rewarding correct play of BBs, a.k.a. you can't snipe everything (you actually kinda still can, just don't go for BBs main belt past 13km) from your max range. Of course everyone has to be outraged about that because using your keyboard while playing a BB is so unheard of
-
Can't test premiums on PTS, can you? Looking at Kidds numbers as they are now... The 5km DP main battery guns will be flak = useless. But dps wise it makes up just 1/3 of it The 40mm and 20mm guns should be the guaranteed DPS aura, so they should still work. Problem is, afaik DefAA now only affects the flak (more puffs) so your MGs wouldn't get boosted... And at t8 66 dps @ 3.5km (something like 4km after rework?) and 37 dps @ 2km (something like 2.3 after rework?) really looks like nothing.

Yes, we will see low damage from potatoes who manage to be mindbogglingly bad at this. And then everyone else will just dominate every Air vs Surface engagement You being a potato who can't make these CVs work speaks more about your absolute lack of skill / basic game understanding rather than anything else...
-
@El2aZeR can you post the vid of killing Wooster through DefAA and such? I've found another one who believes that this will nerf CVs
-
I'm wondering why did you write a TL;DR for what I wrote to you?
-
Someone from that game (basically guaranteed to have been one of those 2 CVs) sat in queue for over 5min. Nothing new, nothing special. Oh no, your t7 ships don't get to tier 5 ships as often anymore, how horrible!
-
How wrong can one person be? CVs will have far more power than they do now, and surface ships AA is effectively non-existant. People like this one are the true supporters of this rework - "I'm clueless as to what changes and how it changes, but just change it! I clueless and blindly trust you!". Time for you to wake up Honestly with he reworked AA it's not like that matters. Noone will have AA. Not if you can drop (multiple times mind you) a Wooster through his DefAA while there are multiple ships of his team around him. Just ask El2aZeR for an example
-
It's not "no limit", it's a cap of 4 per team. I wonder if it will go past that at low population times after 5+ min in queue, similarly to how it happens with other classes (mainly BBs) Also enjoy the new "limited spotting ability" by CVs
-
Isn't the B = guns / C = AA thing for US DDs starting at like tier 5? How can you get to tier 8 without ever noticing it?
-
You think the new system where planes basically teleport around the map and where non-mg AA doesn't do dmg unless you literally go in a straight line long enough to run into a flak puff is better? Oh boi you're in for a wild ride next patch Also 4 CVs per team at all tiers bcuz lulz Not only it can, it is And how will that change? Lets say you have xXxFioraMaster18xXx on your team, and you have El2aZeR as the enemy CV. Your pleb CV goes in straight lines, loses most of his planes before they can drop to the flak, then misses every drop he makes because all of them have to be aimed. Meanwhile El2 kills a Wooster through his DefAA despite multiple other ships being around that Wooster, then goes after your DDs and wrecks all of them, and since the game hasn't ended yet just goes and burns down couple BBs bcuz why not, it's free dmg. In all this time he loses so few planes you may aswell say he didn't lose any which means he can re-use the same attack type again and again as he doesn't need to wait for them to resupply. Clearly the skill gap will be "smaller" and there will be at least some counter to a skilled CV. Clearly
-
So then... no replay?
-
Noob here, how do I stop all my planes from getting shot down?
wilkatis_LV replied to TheOneAndOnlyMuffinCat's question in Q&A Section
You're a week early, there's no "evasive maneuvers" in current CV gameplay -
[cv rework] planes can find DDs with RPF now ?
wilkatis_LV replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Honestly with that speed do you even need RPF? Yeah, late game to find those last couple hiding ships - but for hunting DDs? You know the general area where they'll be, you go and just straight up them anyway And after your 1st squad's depleted... Not like those DDs will get far away from that last known place in the time it takes your planes to perform a hyperspace jump back there -
Why? Tosa would be a case of "worst of 2 worlds" Ashitakas turning ability and turrets with Nagatos armour and speed. That's gaining 30...50mm thicker main belt and 2 more barrels for losing 4...5 kts speed and 100m turning radius Nagato class is great, Amagi class is great, Tosa sounds like that awkward middlepoint where you sort of get something from both but end up without any advantages. Would I like to see a Tosa (WG wouldn't put another Kaga in, at least not in tiers where it can meet the other Kaga)? Sure. But she doesn't sound like the most exciting ship.

Look at WoT on PC and consoles for an example. They share the name, they share the general gameplay, they share MOST (not all) vehicles. That's about it. There's no reason why WoWS would somehow turn out to be a different case.

Funny how the opinion that PEF's mediocre at best generally comes from players who are mediocre at best... What a "coincidence" PEF is one of the simplest mid-tier BBs I've played. Keep your speed up, dodge by dropping it because of how fast you can do that. Angle against AP, and with all the armour at these tiers it's not like HE hurts much. You're bloody accurate, just don't attempt to go through BBs main belt past 13km. CVs up to tier 7 literally can't touch you (probably will change soonTM bcuz magical rework), any problems with DDs can be solved with precision hits by main guns + secondaries. As easy as it gets.
-
Only when misplayed. basically git gud Subjective. I found it to be very fun She's a battlecruiser. Play her as such. The battleship tag comes from her having BB armour plating, not CA armour plating It has lots. Refer to my previous comments in this same thread, and others alike She has no problem in t6 and t7 matches. No t6 ship is good when it comes to t8, as t8 ships outclass them too much in every aspect that matters

You can save them up till there's 999 of them After that every time you receive a new container(s) the same number of container(s) gets automatically opened, so it stays at 999
