    New matchmaking

Since MM doesn't care about ships, only their classes (clearly shown by how well balanced number of radars can be between teams) there's bound to happen a game where one team has, lets say, 3 premium ships and the other one has none. Nothing new, just a normal RNG chance.

A very noob question about captain skills training

No question about the game is too noob to ask, I just wish more players actually did ask them Basically there are 3 kinds of XP -> Ship XP, Free XP and Captain XP (which also includes Elite Captain XP) Lets start with where to find what: In port you can immediately see your Ship XP and Free XP Ship XP is that same normal XP that you use to unlock new modules and ships as you play, but is attached to a certain ship. For example I can't use my Shenyangs XP on a Hatsuharu. After you have unlocked everything on a ship it gains "elite" status, which means you can use gold to change this XP into Free XP. The normal Pay-rate is 25 XP per 1 gold, with the discounted version at 35 XP per 1 gold every now and then. If it's worth your many - judge that for yourself. Free XP can be acquired in 3 ways - one is the already mentioned transfer by paying gold, the next one is the one that you are already doing - 5% of the Ship XP you earn each battle is added to you as Free XP (for example - if you got 2000 XP for a game, you also received 100 Free XP), and the last way is as a reward -> for completing some mission, for achieving a certain number of stars in an Operation or inside a container. Free XP can be used on any ship as a bonus to the Ship XP (for example to unlock some module quicker) or for captain retraining. Also if you save up enough you can buy some premium ships for it - currently Nelson and Missouri (which soon will be replaced with Musashi) If you look closer at the captain you can see his current level (lvl 19 is max) and his current progress towards the next level. When you open captains page on the bottom left corner you'll see "Elite Commander XP" - which happens to be that 89k you were wondering about. Elite Cpt Xp can be used on any captain to retrain or level-up them quicker. Currently I know of 2 ways to earn it - both tier 7 operations have it as a reward for completing them with at least 4 stars and if you play with a 19 point captain (max level) all the XP he would earn becomes Elite Cpt XP. But there, of course, might be other ways that I've missed out on. There is a possibility to turn Elite Cpt XP into Free Xp for gold, but I'd strongly advise against it Lastly - where can you keep track of the XP that you get? At post-game stats in the 4th tab you can always see all your earnings. "Total" displays how much Ship XP (white) and Free XP (yellow-ish) you earned, below them in the "Commander XP" you see exactly what's advertised. As you can see your captain earns exactly the same XP that your ship earned, as long as you don't have captain XP signals mounted - those would then increase that XP even more. That "+1" I have there means that my captain got a level-up with the XP he earned from this match. Hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

Where will XP go when the teased US cruiser split happens?

If we go by what happenned at previous splits (RU and IJN DDs) all the exp will keep its position - for example all the xp your Cleveland has right now will most likely be on her replacement at that same position - the tier 6 Pepsi

    Arp ships

ARP ships got a port slot for them when they got added, so they aren't taking up an extra space you would have otherwise. If you don't want to see ships themselves just remove them with port filters (I think it was a gear on the right side of your shiplist in port)
  5. Lex simply joined their 2-man division. Divisions already allow just +/-1 tier difference in port. As we still have that dumb possibility for randoms to jump in your divisions this isn't exactly rare if you pay attention to that. I've been caught on this a few times as their "triple" division is there as soon as I get team lists loaded in, but that "3rd wheel" simple has a quicker PC and probably the division tab opened as his default instead of the teamlists / map that you would have normally. Divisions should be more mirrored overall. One team having a division while the other one has none isn't exactly great either.

Past Tier 8 no fun games only camping

Minotaur is exactly what I thought of, that thing can chew up unangled BBs literally in seconds

Past Tier 8 no fun games only camping

The only ships I've played at 9 are Izumo, Missouri and Lion - and I have to say, I quite enjoyed that tier. Not a fan of playing 10s, but that's just a personal preference Also You don't have to keep playing 10s when you get them - stay at whatever tier you like to play, and play whatever ships you like to play. Except, of course, you could go and play those "0s reload cruisers" - if they are so great why don't you join their ranks?

IFHE on Chapayev or not ?

To pen BBs 25mm armour at tiers 6 and 7 you need 153mm guns to do it without IFHE To pen BBs 32mm armour at tiers 8+ you need 195mm guns to do it without IFHE Seeing how Chapaev has 152mm which fails in both categories I'd guess it's a must have

Monty AP still doing full damage to DDs?

Unless this is literally the only game you've ever played there's no way you haven't heard of a term "pentakill", more than enough games have it. Literally means what it sounds like - "5 kills in a row / in a short time span" And how about you go shove this idea up where the sun doesn't shine? Not every BB is a potato, and this idea hits a special category in the typical retarded ideas potatoes throw around in these forums. There would be more than enough people who'd rather get a game now instead of waiting 3 min for it, they would disperse rather quickly. As I already said, it's been done in other games before, this one isn't anything special for it to have a drastically different outcome.

    Are you KIIding me!??!

You are aiming at an area of water surface, but there may be obstructions along the way like ships and islands that you can hit. If that obstruction was removed you'd still hit the water as original path would show. you are aiming at a 2D ellipse area with a chance to hit some object before it. if it was 3D epsilloid your shells would randomly explode in the air before reaching anything At this point I'm amazed you have above 50% WR, you clearly have absolutely no clue how aiming and accuracy work in this game. That drawing of yours was you assuming you should have 100% hit rate bcuz target is bigger than your horizontal dispersion. How thick are you if you can't understand that? Which part of "not a linear change" your thick head failed to understand? Going from 1.5 to 2.1 increases your "shells landed on central area (target)" by 10%, that shows how little the effect would be for a change of 0.1 sigma There are enough posts & videos out there that you can go to and learn from, you with all your "decentness" should go and educate yourself before coming up with another idiotic claim Kii has thicker armour, thus higher armour values. Amagis thin armour is a bit troll, thus it sometimes works in magical ways - you wouldn't say that French cruisers or Zao are heavily armoured, would you? Yet they have the same exact trollishnes in their armour No, Kii is not a nerfed Amagi, she's alternate more-or-less equally powerful version of Amagi. Unlike US premiums which are straight up better than their line counterparts, IJN premiums are usually on par with the silver version of them. Acrapaka being an obvious exception, and Musashi quite likely to join her. ENGLISH speaking forum, not Klingon or whatever that is

    Ranked Season 8

When you reach Rank 1 it's always a separate battle group with a separate tier - 10 in this case. But as far as I know noone plays them anyway, so unless you want to spend whole day in queue hoping to get enough people together you can ignore it
  12. wilkatis_LV

    Why ranked stinks

Had an allied Kidd who smoked up enemy NO and Chapa that were radaring him and then proceeded to complain in all chat how team is not shooting those invisible 2 cruisers in the smokescreen and how this is why he's just rank 15 and can't climb any higher Also for the first 20 games kept score: 17 games I had an allied DD die as First Blood within the first 3...4min, in 2 games enemy DD did exactly that same, and in the last one left there simply were no DDs for a quick suicide It got a bit depressing so I stopped counting them
  13. wilkatis_LV

    Name changed? why?

I think that's enough said, case closed

    Steven Seagal

it's not, in most 99 cases out of a 100 they make no difference. For example getting 1...2s off of the turret traverse for the degrees that you need to turn it would be nice but really doesn't change that much. And there will be other special captains that you will be able to earn, there is no reason to give something special out for everybody just because they couldn't make it back then.

Monty AP still doing full damage to DDs?

At long range the angling more or less doesn't matter, thet's up to RNG, yeah. What I mean is at close range - if you're running in front of BBs guns you have to "balance" yourself between bigger broadside target for overpens and smaller bow-on target for guaranteed pens. As far as this issue is concerned I'm still laughing about how it was fine for 2 years and then without any changes to it it became a problem, but that's discussed more than enough previously in other threads. What I find... "problematic" about this one is that everybody is crying about that 1 RNG time when a BB hit the DD at longer ranges for some good damage completely disregarding the fact that those shots are like going down the middle in the Two Brothers -> while it works every now and then wast majority of cases are absolute failures scoring absolutely nothing. At close ranges BBs of course do a lot of dmg to DDs, but that's where the stealth, speed and maneuverability differences come in play - attack from somewhere where his guns aren't pointed and will take time to turn instead of just trying to run onto him right in front of his full broadside firepower. Of course, there will be situations where you can't attack from the other side - and that's a massive disadvantage to you as you basically put the BB in the best spot for him in this duel. Of course it's annoying to get deleted in 1 salvo, that's literally the only reasons I play cruisers as little as I do, but you can't take 1 case out of the whole context and make it some big problem disregarding everything else connected to it. As for BB / DD limits - yeah, DDs die out early, but what do the vast majority of BBs do every game? They head straight for the closest map border and sit there, if someone accidentally happens to be within their firing range they're so far out that they'll land maybe 1...2 shells per salvo if the target is not maneuvering. Might aswell be AFK for all the good they do to their teams. This is just another change that wouldn't affect potato BBs in any way whatsoever, but make life harder for those who still for some reason play up front together with their team, like WG hasn't made enough changes in that direction already. Ok, I'll try to explain in more Warships way :D Basically lanes generally fit as classes that you play. In draft pick you select your lane / position (and with it more or less the role you'll play) before queuing up, almost like we select ships before we enter the battle queue. Support being support is very unpopular class to play (they aren't those flashy "I got the pentakill there!!!1!", so their carrying and achievements often pass by unnoticed -> noone congratulates the supp who worked his a** off making the dumba** who got the pentakill survive, dumba** gets all of the congratulations for getting the pentakill), but the game needs to have 1 who has selected that (I mean, there are ways how they prevent players from sitting too long in queue with "autofill" by forcing people play something else, but that's irrelevant here). When a support enters the queue he gets the game rather quickly - as a supp main I can tell you that it's easily 5....20 seconds on average Midlane has all the bursty mages, assassins and such "show-off" champions. Basically champions that tend to have a "high risk, high reward" gameplay, and that's very popular style to play, I'm guessing people feel like they can carry the most from there, and show off their great "skills". But as the game has way more mids than it needs, their queue times tend to be longer. Not sure what they are right now, but they usually were 30sec to 5min, altho I've even seen some people sitting in queue for up to 11min to get their role. Basically you want to play this role / ship class => sit in the queue longer as we have enough of you already. Those who don't want to wait will just disperse into other classes letting the "more dedicated" BBs to get into games a bit quicker again. I really don't think we need any ways to reduce BB queue times, but reducing BB and DD max number per game from 5 to 4 would probably be greatly appreciated by quite many players.

Monty AP still doing full damage to DDs?

Gun with 11'440-ish alpha? 1 overpen and 1 pen, game "forgot" to give you the pen ribbon. Nothing new and / or unexpected Lucky shots happen against anyone from anyone. 3 shells grouped up against a lengthwise Kagero, but that an exception rather than the rule. So you angled your thin armour against him against him making it thick enough to arm the fuses and he hit you, obviously overmatch happened and you expect that to do no dmg? Broadside these would have been just overpens doing around 4.5 ... 5k dmg There rarely is more than 1 BB per game both teams combined, as the other 9 are nothing more than fortifications on the maps border behind their spawn Also keep in mid the "reliably hit multiple shells part". At that so often mentioned 15km distance that hit on the DD is a lucky exception where you are completely ignoring those 9+ times that shot missed with 0 hits scored. You can reliably score hits at close distances, basically starting around DDs detection range of 6...7km. Ok, lets say from 8km. At that distance the BB is long since visible and you can pick your engagements, unless you are charging more ships than just that 1 BB. Missouri with her radar would be a bit of an exception here as she can spot you for herself at those ranges, but that's just 1 out of however many BBs we have. Of course, I'm kind of speaking out of my a** about this one, as my only reliable experience lately would be KamikazeR, Akatsuki and Gnevny but apart from a random lucky hit in between all those misses I really don't see the problem in those 3. And same for DDs. Games with 5 DDs per side are cancerous instead of fun, same as 5 BBs per side. Want to play X class when it has a longer queue time? Be prepared to sit in the queue. I'll use Leagues Draftpick system as an example. The game is always short of supports, and has an absolute overflow of midlaners. Result - if you play support your queue times are basically nonexistant, while if you want to play mid - be prepared to sit in the queue for a few min... IJN CVs still have their AS loadouts, and I've lately noticed and increase of IJN CVs played with that configuration. Potatoes will keep running them till ALL CVs have them removed, but Saipan, of course, will get to keep his as a premium CV anyway.

    Honorable service mission bugged

Hmm, I really haven't heard of this. Usually it is just a UI bug, but for missions not campaigns Have you tried to contact games support team? Generally they're not much to go on, but it's at least a chance

Monty AP still doing full damage to DDs?

Yeah, if you are giving a thick enough target for the AP not to overpen it. Broadside DDs (maybe except Khaba bcuz of her 50mm, altho she's still probably too thin for non-RN AP to score a normal pen on her broadside) will always be just overpened, when you angle those shells can explode inside you (that's what she said). If you put yourself in a position where he can reliably hit you with multiple shells, or even worse, with all of his turrets - that's your misplay not a problem with the game. You are stealthy and quick enough to choose your engagements where you get seen, and there are far too few situations / places where you wouldn't have any other choice for it to be a reasonable statistic to consider.

    Are you KIIding me!??!

Like a week or two ago? And yes, that horizontal value is for max range, and it changes linearly as you change the distance, literally like sliding a ruler through a cone. But itš only the horizontal, vertical dispersion is one of those stats that are not shown in game. You did. You did. I drew you how the dispersion ellipse look like, if you still fail to understand it's not my fault. That is because you have no clue how things like Sigma affect your accuracy. Short and simplistic version - you have higher chance to hit the center than the edge of that ellipse. Also there is an in-built "aim-assist" correcting a good deal of your aiming errors when you are locked onto a target (from some testing I've done it looks like it increases your accuracy by about 50% -> it puts your aimpoint at the middle between where you aimed and where you needed to aim to hit) As I said, you simply don't understand accuracy mechanics. My highest hit is a Conqueror against a GK - a bit over 47k in one AP salvo, 0 citadels scored. He probably scored some citadels, but it's not guaranteed. And if he did - you were giving him way too much side, because the only ship that can pen your bow is Yamato (and soon to be Musashi) And I told you that this is a game, literally noone cares what you do outside of it as that the only thing that might affect is how often you get to play it. And I have no idea what you are talking about with that 2nd, I all I said is that for all I care you might be helping your uncle Jack to get off a horse, no idea what you thought you read there. No, you said that she has less armour which clearly isn't true. Amagis bulges make her really thin armour more troll, which can sometimes make it rather effective. Kii has raw armour thickness, which actually works worse because of how the game works with vastly reduced engagement ranges. Because you look only at horizontal dispersion ignoring the vertical values. That makes whatever your idea was there completely wrong. If that's how you play your BBs with torps I'd say your case is even worse than I thought before. You're not a torpedoboat, they are not supposed to be there for charging and torping everything you see Forums were just updated, some new bugs / problems were bound to happen. Fingers crossed they'll fix them soon

    Ridiculously uneven CV matches

The skill there would be knowing when to fight them and when not to. Tier 4 and 5 CVs are rather useless anyway, they get usable at 6 when you can start using Alt attacks

    Ridiculously uneven CV matches

Could it be that you are fighting them over enemy ships? Their AA would aid their fighters to shoot you down

    Honorable service mission bugged

Make sure that you are using tier 8 or higher ship. Also there's a good chance it's just the casual UI bug, if you restart the game those scores might have updated
