If I remember correctly in WoT your crew actually suffers penalties to reload, view range and things like that if not 100%? Well, in WoWS it only affects commander skills - some will work 50% till you have retrained him, some won't work - but that retraining goes fast (and you can speed it up with things like signals & camos that give more ship an / or captain xp). And yeah, I'd sell the equipment with the ship. Funny part is I don't sell ships, and still somehow manage to buy new ones 19s max, yeah, and it's not that impossible actually. If you take your captain up through the line from tier 4 or 5, you will reach 19 points on him (or rater I reach them) while still playing the tier 9 ship (that's of course, if you don't FreeXP your way through). Depends on the camo. Your permanent camos for that ship are first in the list, those that are consumed follow after them starting with the Type1. You can also notice that consumable camos always have a number next to them indicating how many of them are left, perma camos don't have that. Speaking of camos... Type 2 (+4% to enemy dispersion) is kind of a useless one, save them up and then just sell in a bulk :D If you're going with standard go for Type 1 (-3% detection) / Type 5 (-3% detection & +4% enemy dispersion) Type 6 (same 2 bonuses and +100% XP) and Type 59 (same 2 bonuses and +200% XP) are for gold (50 and 125 respectively) so again - nice to use them while you have them, but really not necessary. Also if you use them under the Auto-resupply remember to un-check the "resupply for in-game currency" otherwise when they run out they'll start eating away your gold

Pretty sure that's because they are treated as normal japanese captains.

You can earn so much credits so quickly in WoWS compared to WoT that you can easily just buy new modules for each ship. As F2P player I've still never de-mounted anything except on some special when it's for free bcuz why the hell not Ship-to-ship - if it's at least 10k XP for 50% retraining just go with 200k credits, later on you'll get Elite Cpt XP to make it even faster. If you get less than 10k Xp for partial retraining - don't even bother paying it, go with the free one, couple of games and he'll be retrained anyway If it's skill resets - you don't have high-enough point captains for it anyway, don't bother Go for credits camos (7.5k or 22.5k) and reward camos - no need to invest 125gold for a Type59 unless you really want to Can stockpile as loot - rewards and containers, can't buy in a bunch.

Hmm, well here's one more for BBs (US tier 7+). First of all I see all kinds of BBs running fighters way too often. Spotter aircraft is incredibly useful for firing into / at smokescreens and over islands, pretty sure that range increase is close to useless in most situations. For the "underused" one - Spotter Aircraft mod on NC, and as she has the same guns - Alabama, and because of similarities probably also Colorado, Iowa and Montana. That extra uptime for Spotter might be really useful. And then one for CVs (tier 6 & 7): That Repair mod extends your R time on a CV from 30 to 42s. Since they have no DefAA CV snipes can be quite effective - but usually more through DoT rather than alpha-striking the enemy. 30s already is a long time to wait while the enemy is getting his fighters back / up to defend himself, so you probably want to set the sticking DoT immediately after his repair runs out instead of waiting around. That's where those extra 12 seconds come in - surprise surprise you didn't DoT me

Notser already tried that one and failed to provide any more arguments other than it feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels good to have it

I wonder if successfully appealed and thus lifted warnings / bans, as well as 0 WG Point giving "friendly reminders" count towards it?

WG removed credits from supercontainers

Practice and crosshair selection. If you run standard - go for the one with additional angled lines, even at elevated view you'll have an obvious line to lead the target by I'm considering mounting SpotAcftMod on my NC, and probably will do on Iowa and Montana aswell - so much easier to shoot over islands -
Ship to ship distances in the tactical map
wilkatis_LV replied to Tatsfield's question in Newcomer Questions
I used your screenshot (you can still see it there - all that dark part) and the distances given on it to draw those circles which all came together in one point Look at those 3 ships next to you. Kongo almost centerlined, 16.7km Konig about half square away from centerline, 16.8km New York about 0.6...0.7 through the square away from centerline, 16.9km Distance it the direct line from where it's measured, hence why you can easily check it with circles (that one point is the only point from where all of the given distances are true) It's pretty easy to see when you play a CV - when you give a plane squad a command it's not a point of there they will go, it's a point on the surface with vertical line as to where the squad will be - hence the fact that we see it a slight angle. When you enter tactical map your are centered on it - hence the "you are in the center" idea and hence those distance measurements from the center. If this goes on all the time CVs might be the ones more affected by it, as they generally work with the map. Not thing more than a minor inconvenience, but still a thing. Then again, who really cares about those distances? Bug is a bug, report it and hope they will fix it within the next 10 years. -
Ship to ship distances in the tactical map
wilkatis_LV replied to Tatsfield's question in Newcomer Questions
@Tatsfield Figured it out Game takes those measurements from wherever you are located at that moment - and when you enter tactical map while it's still counting down it apparently thinks you are in the middle. Well, slightly below the middle because if I'm not mistaken you still see the tactical map at a very slight angle As long as it's just a pre-game thing not something actually in the middle of a battle it should be fine (then again I didn't check if it's just a pre-game thing or not). Even tho I use tactical map a lot had never paid attention to those distance numbers Post this in the "Bug Reports" thread in the "Current Update" section, MrConway has already provided a template there how you should report it. Feel free to use your own screenshots as well as this img in it -
Ship to ship distances in the tactical map
wilkatis_LV replied to Tatsfield's question in Newcomer Questions
Hmm, interesting... I'm assuming this is happening while the game is still counting down before loading in? Do you have a full 1st screenshot saved maybe? I have some ideas how that could be explained but I'm not sure. Does this happen basically every game? Also - haven't seen anyone else posting something like that so I guess I can say congratz on finding a new bug -
Could be something to do with a clueless new player buying a tier 8 premium and then complaining how unfair the game is bcuz he has no clue what to do

@kenalb here, educate yourself with this very simplistic example of how RNG works So you have your target area where those shells can land (an ellipse). For simplicity lets just assume that it has, for example, 3 areas (inner, middle and outer) each with its own hit chance - lets say inner has 50%, middle has 33.3% and outer has 16.7% Those can be represented as equally likely RNG rolls 1, 2 and 3 for the inner area, 4 and 5 for the middle area and 6 for the outer area Then each of those areas can be separated in, lets say, 16 equal sub-areas, numbered by equal RNG rolls 1 through 16 Now using something like https://www.random.org/ we can get our hit spots - roll 1 through 6 for area, and then 1 through 16 for sub area. Also for simplicity I just went with - if area can be rolled by multiple numbers (example: inner area can be 1, 2 and 3) then they go from center to outside (rolling 1 would be middle of inner area, rolling 3 would be outside of inner area and so on) Now lets say you are firing 8-shell salvos, and you fire a total of 6 salvos. That would mean we need 8 * 6 = 48 pairs of RNG rolls. After that's done you can plot them on your target area (left img) And just to make it a bit easier to see - removing those internal grid lines (right img) (for a larger img just click on it) Now as you can see you've got 6 completely different salvos in identical situations. Salvo #1 is quite wide spread, shells going all over the place, but still could have been worse Salvos #2 and #4 have some shells going center with a lot of scattering around for the rest of them Salvo #5 is quite accurate with a few stray shells Salvos #3 and #6 have really tight central grouping All 6 in perfectly equal situation, all down to RNG not some magical "make those shells go focused"

MM has nothing to do with winning or losing On the other hand you having a WR that's estimated to be on someone who's AFK 100% of the time shows how useful you are for your teams. Stop whining about how "unfair" everything is and L2P

Allow consumable to be fixed to keyboard keys
wilkatis_LV replied to Skipper_Clement's topic in General Discussion
"Definitely helps", especially when I want to use the heal on my Atago and activate something else bcuz BBs have heal on a different key. Checking means nothing when it's basically muscle memory which keys do what for you -
Tank builds on BBs. Reduced R cooldown, reduced fire & flood time, stuff like that. Noone uses them bcuz "muh AR" "muh Vigilance" and "muh long range sniping = I no take hits" I'd say those are pretty underused.

You do know Battle of North Cape campaign ended like... 54 hours ago?

A more controlled environment where you don't have 6 potatoes yolocharging somewhere? Used to be quite useful for some specific practice and testing

Ship to ship distances in the tactical map
wilkatis_LV replied to Tatsfield's question in Newcomer Questions
Screenshot it or record it. No proof = never happened. -
Don't yolorush, you'll get wrecked Don't sit at your max range sniping while your team is getting wrecked - BBs have bad accuracy for a reason, get closer and actually start hitting some Stop dropping all the FreeXP and whatever else you have to progress faster, especially since this is your 1st line. Go slowly, learn the game and each tier before progressing further. Just because you can ace a tier 4 BB in 7 games doesn't qualify you to play in t8. Watch YouTube and Twitch if you have time for those Learn fire / damage control - one fire generally doesn't hurt a BB, sometimes you'll want to let even 2 fires burn without putting them out. What's the point if you know you'll be immediately set on fire again? 1-2k is 1-2 overpens, and get used to it as most shots will do just that. You're still new to the game, get used to aiming and start landing more shells for better results Unless you are really confident in your abilities to hold off multiple ships alone - stick with the fleet. Yes, even in lemmingtrains. Just because a more confident BB player can split off from you to defend your flank 1v4 doesn't mean you'll be able to do it right away Use your minimap Use premium consumables (repair = basically obligatory, heal = basically obligatory, aircraft = as you wish) Use correct modules on your ship Use correct skills on your captain And so on. Just play the game, you'll learn most of it by simple practice
-
No it's not, you are simply bad at the game / at aiming and trying to drop your potato guilt on anything except yourself. No they can't. All they can do is select which ship class / line they play, stop sucking at aiming and hope RNGesus will be kind. You are playing German BBs which are infamous for being inaccurate, your tier 8 average dmg is lower than I have on tier 2 and your killrate looks like a single random accident every few games. That leaves us with 2 options - either "my haz guut rangu, me a sniperino at 25km!!!!" or "my Derpitz haz torp, me a DD! Chaaaaaaaaaaaarge!" both of which are absolutely failed playstyles. Interestingly enough I can't tell you which one it is bcuz of your low survivability (charging?) and at the same time ridiculously low hitrates - 20ish % mostly, Derpitz and Bismark are even sub-18% (long range useless sniping). Somehow you are managing to do both. Just google how to activate replays Everything here comes down to you being a new and clueless player who immediately went and bought a tier 8 BB bcuz "I'm too skilled to learn how to play" which was immediately followed by "OMG they all are cheating, not fair!" Literally learn to play.
-
Dodge them before they are spotted by abusing your WASD hacks. If you keep sailing in a straight line for long enough to get hit it's your and only your fault.
-
Can it be any better ? Tier X, Tears of the Desert, epicenter, 2 cv, 22 bb. And ofc 2 low tier alibi ships.
wilkatis_LV replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in General Discussion
My argument is you can't read. Which part of "some BBs are OP like GC, but then again there are DDs, CVs and CA/Ls like that aswell - doesn't speak for the whole class" tells you "some DDs have high WR so BBs are balanced"? Has it occurred to you that WG don't care about low tier balance? Just look at WoT - how old that game is? Still barely any balance fixes in sight. Why would this be any different? BB AP has not changed since day one, why are you DDs now crying that it shouldn't damage DDs? It has been unchanged, it is perfectly okay! What was the argument you people made with Conq... "no single thing, all of the ship together" or something like that? But I mean if you are stupid enough to claim that Clemson (and by extension of that ships like Payfast, Kaga, GC, Missouri) are balanced - your own problem -
Except that training room is effectively a waste of time as it offers no rewards of any kind - which SL would
