Well it's very obvious from Brynd's response that the purpose of these contests is to attract players and it clearly does not serve that purpose on EU. NA's server population is very small given the size of population and compared with EU so even though they have all these contests, they clearly do not attract players. -

Happy to agree. If DDs do their job well, they can shield their team from enemy DDs.

Not sure where Tim's numbers come from. I don't need to look it up, but perhaps you do ? Yes I am questioning DD numbers vs torp walls. Even if there are an average of 10 DDs per battle (which I doubt) they are not all IJN DDs.

Yeah your team could have more DDs ?!!! Less BBs could be because there are only two lines at present, so a lot of players would have already ground through the mid tiers ? Anyway, I will screenshot the MM of my next 20 T9 and T10 battles and post the results.

Why is it silly ? Is my perception any different from anyone else ? It's not based on any statistical evidence. What have the devs actually 'confirmed' ? Is the problem of people complaining about torp walls on the RU forum, even the same issue as DD numbers ? From memory, they said they would look at it. Clearly they have considered the torp spam issue, which is why the PT has changes to higher tier IJN DD torps. To me the real issue is the Shima has 15 torps and if you are in a BB facing three of them you are going to rage.

I'm not at all convinced. As I said we do not have any actual statistical evidence. My own perception is that there is not a big problem. Although I have only 44 recent games in the Iowa, I enjoy playing her. The point is I suppose, is that battleships are not an 'island'. Your own team also has CAs and DDs so you are not fighting these classes on your own. Finally, what has mid tier CA MM got to do with high tier DD numbers ?

Hi Lelu, I wasn't necessarily advocating giving hydro to all DDs, just pointing out there is an easy 'solution' to implement the OP's idea, without any change to existing spotting mechanics. -
Hi Crusherheads. What time did you play that battle ? I assume very late at night because there are only 10 ships per team ? If too many DD's are a problem perhaps we can have some cool hard facts. I've played many high tier battles where there are less than 3 DDs per team. I could post lots of screenshots showing only one or two DDs in a battle, and start a thread titled 'where have all the DDs gone ?'. Perhaps if it's a real problem, some people could record the MM for a week and post the results. Then we might have a factual basis to question the DD numbers. From where I'm sitting CA numbers dominate the MM, particularly as they have four lines in the game.

Totally agree. Also Italeri kits are not the best in terms of quality. It would be nice if it were obtainable in a cheaper way, like Tachibana was via PCGamer.

Not sure if this is right ? Doesn't the Lo Yang have the Hydro consumable ? So it would be easy to implement the OP's idea, just give DD's Hydro. -

I've not noticed much difference in T6 MM. For balance testing I played 6 battles solo in the T6 Molotov. I had to collect stats so saved all the results screenshots. The MM I had was: 6/5/4 7/6/5 7/6/5 8/7/6 8/7/6 6/5/4 Its a small sample size, but the MM seemed fine. Even in the battles with T8 there were only 3 T8s on each team in one of the battles. So if there is something wrong having actually stats to demonstrate this would help a lot.

It's not a rumour. The ability was in the Public Test of 0.5.5 for T8 - T10 CVs. I don't think most players will care very much, and in most randoms I suppose it's a good thing for the rest of the team. Losing your own CV early is never good for your win chances. Two problems. In team battles it removes one of the main CV strike options. It's difficult for CVs to attack good teams that stay together, so sometimes the enemy CV is the only decent target. Also in randoms where you have T7 CVs vs T8. Basically the T8 can snipe the T7 but the T7 can't do the same to the T8.

I think the Fleet Air Arm really suffered from the lack of aircraft development in the 1930s. I suppose that is why the Avenger ended up being the RNs main bomber towards the end of the war.

Meanwhile back on topic. I think it's fine for the OP to ask if we will see RN CVs. He didn't even use the general gameplay section. The 'another RN thread puts the date back' is getting to be a really boring standard response, just like RU CAs really. Personally I think the RN is the only other Navy who can supply a full CV tree within the timescale of the game other than the IJN and USN. So hopefully they will be the next CV branch introduced.
