Pisa-class armored cruiser of the Royal Hellenic (Greek) Navy
tsibos posted a topic in Warship Projects
Greetings to everyone. I am new player and very pleased by the game which i think is really fantastic. Excellent work if i might say. As it is mentioned i am reffering to the Pisa-class. From the wikipedia site we can read this "The Pisa class consisted of three armored cruisers built in Italy in the first decade of the 20th century. Two of these were for the Royal Italian Navy (Regia Marina) and the third was sold to the Royal Hellenic Navy and named Georgios Averof. This ship served as the Greek flagship for the bulk of her active career and participated in the Balkan Wars of 1912–13, fighting in two battles against the Ottoman Navy. The ship participated in the Coronation Fleet Review for King George V of the United Kingdom in 1911 shortly after commissioning. She served in the Balkan Wars and was instrumental in the Greek victories over the Ottoman Empire in the Battles of Elli and Lemnos during the First Balkan War. Georgios Averof returned to Greece after the German evacuation in late 1944 and became a museum ship in 1952. She is the only surviving armored cruiser in the world.". Although the Piza-clas didn't play a very important role during WWI, I think that would be a homage to see the class depicted in the game either as an Italian ship or a Greek one. https://en.wikipedia...a-class_cruiser https://en.wikipedia...Georgios_Averof -

Thank you Vaderan for your in depth analysis, although i have to admit that, as a newcomer, at present i do not have the specialty knowledge on technical issues. For instance what "WG politics" stants for? I am not familiar with that term, or why i can't have control of the secondary armament 8 × 190mm (7.5in) guns (4 × 2)? A salvo or a broadside wouldn't engage them? I agree with your opinion that it would make a good entry into a battlecruiser tree, since the truth is that she is popularly known as a battleship, although in fact an armored cruiser! Here are some extra links related to the ship: http://www.naval-history.net/WW1NavyGreek.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_cruiser_Georgios_Averof http://www.averof.mil.gr/ http://www.hnsa.org/hnsa-ships/bs-georgios-averof/ http://www.steelnavy.com/AveroffTour.htm http://uboat.net/allies/warships/ship/9898.html Also see if you like this site about Hydra-class ironclad: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydra-class_ironclad Thanks again for your reply. -

That was a great experience for me because the ship is the last and only surviving armored cruiser in the world. So my question to the game developers is if there is a chance to see this class depicted in the game for historical reasons. Although the Piza-clas didn't play a very important role during WWI, I think that would be a homage to the class. Than you in advance for your reply and keep up the good work. https://en.wikipedia...a-class_cruiser https://en.wikipedia...Georgios_Averof

I am a greek native, and I have visited the ship. That was a great experience for me not only because the ship is the last and only surviving armored cruiser in the world (in my humble opinion that reason alone is sufficient enough!) but also for personal reasons, as my grandfather served on it. So my question to the game producers is if there is a chance to see this class depicted in the game either as an Italian ship or a Greek one. Although the Piza-clas didn't play a very important role during WWI, I think that would be a homage to the class. Than you in advance for your reply and keep up the good work, Dimitrios. P.S. I am sorry if i hunged my topic to the wrong place, so please inform me about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pisa-class_cruiser https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_cruiser_Georgios_Averof
