I stockpiled coal throughout the year then went on a spree to secure Thunderer (coupon expiring early December) and Georgia (with the new coupon) for future use. I rather have them in my port and wait until I get a suitably trained captain for each than miss out altogether. I intend to use them in the upcoming snowflake event.

I have just acquired my first 19 point captain but used almost all of my stocked elite commander XP for the last few hundred thousand, kept cycling him between Jean Bart, Dunkerque and Normande.

The chance seems to be about 1.5% (or approximately double that if one opts for a 'try your luck' container). I always select the 'more resources' option to stockpile coal which I eventually splurge out on a ship...

Getting through the 4th directive on the "Soviet Cruiser's" event. Mainly used tiers 5 & 6 throughout the event with some assistance from Jean Bart, KGV, Nelson, Scharnhorst and Blyska. Although I have bought other tier 7+ ships I have not yet used them as I have hit a bottleneck with training commanders for them (e.g. I have the Sinop but I want a Russian commander with PT, AR, EM, SI and BOS to go with it).
