I know that this is a Hindenburg screenshot but the same applies to the DM This is the problem - there are no cruisers to speak of in top tier...

Thank you guys!

I was just wondering if there is a list of the % chance of causing flooding for each torpedo - I recently upgraded from Independence to Ranger and noticed that my airborne torpedoes only rarely cause flood, despite flying the +15% chance flag. In Indy it seemed that the % chance was much higher... I tried looking ingame and on the WoWs wiki, but found no information what so ever. (I thought that it had been shown at least on DDs when you look at their torps more closely, but apparently not). Does anyone know?

The only Czech naval ship ever built... The Mighty Masaryk No, seriously, would be a cool T1 premium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_Masaryk_(monitor)

This I know, but I can't find the base chance everything is calculated off. We know that there is the module that reduces flood/fire chance and that it differs depending on the hit zone and that ship-carried torps have much higher chance, but there are no numbers - do the (for instance) DD torps have 70% base chance which gets affected by flags/hit placement/modules while airborne toprs have something like 30% ? That is what I need to know...

4x CV's in one and the same battle? Is that becoming the new "normal"?

Hey I would actually Enjoy that, I'd respec my Des Moines to full AA as it was in CBT and swat the planes from the sky -

Nah, but overpens do less damage than penetrations... So... -

The funny thing is that a Pensacola going full broadside has a better chance of surviving against a BB thana Des Moines going bow in... -

Tell that to Pensacola and up, properly specced they tear planes apart. But the point still stands - every single BB counter is either unusable or has been nerfed to the ground. -

That the cruisers are suffering immensely? Imagine the "fun" taking out something like a Des Moines. So you equip the ship - max range and max concealment since you know there probably won't be a CV. So you go into a game and it's one of the bad ones - 6 BBs per side on an ocean. The enemy forms a BB ball of hur dur. So you stay at max range trying to land your 13 seconds traveling shots on the BBs to hopefully get a fire going, but what's that? They have seen you of course and any BB would shoot a cruiser rather than another BB, so you point your bow away and start fleeing to reconceal yourself, but wait incoming shells and 36 of them... Good luck of dodging that. So you get hit. So you get citadeled... By a shot from 18.5 kliks, while being stern on. You might say but what about dispersion? To which I can reply dispersion doesn't matter when the BB ball is formed, since the number of shells increases dramatically. We see a lot of DDs in high tiers and (again as a mainly cruiser captain) I am ok with that - it's the natural reaction to the BB plague, since the high tier BB AA is quite strong and DDs should be the counter. The problem is that a cruiser can't go DD hunting. It means getting spotted and being spotted means you are a dead ship, you just don't know it. One might say what about cruiser wolfpacks, those can work, and while that is true, forming a wolfpack from the 2-3 cruisers that are in the match per side, is quite impossible, since the BBs outnumber you 2 to 1 and usually won't deform the BB ball. That is what is wrong with 5-6 BBs per side. The CV not only serves as a counter to them, she also takes up one slot in the MM which might reduce the amount of BBs in a match, since they are usually the class of which there is the most in the queue. Why do I think this is happening - all the counters that were supposted to counter BBs were either nerfed (torpedosoup), or are finiky (looking at you CV UI). The introduction of german BBs meant that the allready most forgiving class had a super easy mode added. The secondary builds made US and Russian destroyers stop their epic close quarters torping, uncitadelabity meant that they are even tougher than "normal" BBs and in high ish tiers their AA is really obnoxious (going in Independence against Bismarcs and Derpitzes is really not fun, usually you can get one torpedo/bomb off if you're lucky). So where is the weakness? Probably in their turning, but that is a DD concern not a cruiser one... Seriously taking out a TX cruiser (I have Hinde+DM) is bloodbath, while yes in my Gearing I'm having the time of my life. Still I enjoy cruiser gameplay more, so I am hoping that the german DDs can do something about it... -

Oh I love the mid tier expirience now! 4 CVs in a battle means that the US cruisers have a job again! Nad what's more the CVs are prooving to be effective counter to the BB plague which is spreading from TX... Seriously 5 BBs per side is crazy... The higher the CV count the better for the game. -
I have Hindenburg, Des Moines and Gearing to choose from at TX. From theese whenever I take the DD out, all of the sudden there are only 2-3 BBs per side - the very next game I take the DM out... Well... 5 or 6 is the norm (yea it's just probability and biased memory of the wrong things, but still I feel like WG is pulling some kind of prank ) Hindenburg does ok-ish it has the option during cyclones to close in to torp range... Des Moines does either really amaizing or extremely shitty depending on positioning and sheer luck... Gearing is the obvious answer, but I simply enjoy the cruiser gameplay more, provided that I am not getting citadeled at 18.5 kliks while completely aft on...

I know they said that they are working on it, but could be get any details? Im getting sick of having 5-6 BBs per side in every TX battle I get into. Cruisers feel so fragile, you can't do anything but hope the enemy BBs wont notice you, but they will. Oh yes they will. Why would they fire on a BB, even though there are 3 of them spotted nearby? They can overmatch your armor, so why bother, just point those guns in vague direction of any cruiser and RNGsus will take care of the rest... Especially Yamatos. "HUR ME FIRE BIG DAKKA ANGLE NO MATTER!" It takes one look at the queue to find out that there are approx 2x the BBs than any other class followed closely by DDs (which is reasonale since they should be the "counter." For a cruiser captain the strength is in numbers and DPM, which there is none since there are usually 1-2 cruisers per side... I have tried the steering mod 3 and I can see the argument to use it, however sacrificing concealment is unacceptable for me, since it is the only surefire way to avoid damage, or at least having a shot at relocating when you choose the wrong side of a map at the start of the game (meaning the side with more BBs). I know that there will be probably a lot of complaining that this is not true, that it's more of a DD oversaturation, but that is a effect, rather than a cause. With less BBs to hunt and more cruisers to worry about the amount of DDs will subside.. And yes, I am having a time of my life in my Gearing, however I really enjoy the cruiser gameplay more, now with the added benefit of masochism.

God I hate to play a necromancer and ressing this topic, but the problem still persists... How do you assault a Bloody BB ball? 5 BBs in one square of the map, 1 DD per side which managed to kill each other while capping.. Now you have the beautiful situation.. your BBs are split on two sides of the map and the hur hur me yamato no armour matters ball just waltzes its way over the whole flank continuing right through the middle of the map... Staying at max range doesn't help since overmatch (YAY for that shite again) ensures that every shell you take will hit from 4 to 6 K depending on the BB in question and their dispersion doesn't matter since there's five of them and why to shoot anything but a cruiser?4 So now you have a BB ball on your hands, what to do with it as a cruiser? Half of your BBs are allready dead since they were on the wrong flank, no DDs and since this was a Des Moines game no torps... Stay at maximum range, taking 16 seconds to land a shot a duck and weave and do 1K per salvo... Meanwhile enjoy the attention of the whole hur hur yamato club where one shell does 15% of your hp if you are lucky and 20% if you're not, since angling and armor no matter for overmatch...

So I allready have the ship, but I also have a mission to get that ship again, is there any point? Would I get two, or doubloons? Or is there no point?
-
Really? I thought it was enough to have all the 9 ships to recieve the reward, well... Time for some torpedoes then...

Good Lord, a whole afternoon of playing for just _seeing_ 5 RU ships on the enemy team

So trying to get a GF is a futile effort, eh? -
Just look at the screenshots... large queue, no battles starting.. Any info?

Please remove detonation from the game once and for all
Horin728 replied to T3ddyBear's topic in General Discussion
Oh I love when this happens to a BB... So much rage. Come on use the flag if you're that bothered, personally I use it only on DDs and had almost none detonations since and allways remember the Hood! Detonate a BB... Make a world a better place -
I am not really seeing your point? I have never said that DDs aren't supposed to counter BBs, just that high tier CVs can pressure the map more evenly - imagine that you play a DD, and get a map like two brothers - you choose to go left and then you find out that all the BBs on the oposing team chose to go to the other side of the map too and you have nothing to hunt - well to stop their push it would take considerable time to relocate, while a CV has the potential to divert its planes more quickly... And yes I was around in CBT, and I remember the CV dominance and the times that there was no mirror MM for them and you know what? I enjoyed it. It was the reason I started on the US cruisers and finished them 1st...

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIf0b6k8qDM Audio is quite crappy, but there's a TL DW version here: 4 is ok, but usually in TX it's more likely to be 5 or 6, which isn't workable. I even like to take my Pensa out more and more since she gets overpenned and laughs

And how long until we get a BB mission? No. From the suggestions I have seen there are a few which I really like. Shortening the range of BBs, and nerfing their versatility. I know that there is a complete CV rework planned for 2017, which might just solve the problem by adding a punisher for BBs again, but that is quite ways away. Right now BBs have to feel threatend. They muse feel that in order to deal with the situation they are in, they might be better suited in other classes (mainly cruisers since those we have not enough). Right now the only time I see a BB turn away is when I'm using stealthfire with Gearing and we need more types of danger for them. The CVs (before nerfs and AA buffs) acted like a pusher for BBs, they forced them to stay on the move, maneuver (so they would have to show broadside occasionaly or take full torp spread). Now CVsrather go for DDs, because they won't loose as many planes and it proves as effective as sinking the BBs. That gave (USN) cruisers real importance. If you could catch a full strike airgroup in your AA envelope as a DM, the enemy CV would pay a lot, however if they found a lone BB oh the joy... I think I have seen in some other topic a solution as well, something with changing the rules of ricochets and citedels when aoutobounce is in effect even for overmatching armour, but I can't remember it exactly, anyone knows?
