Memtest returned 0 errors after running for 9 hours, I'll try to look into the antivirus software, otherwise I simply dunno. Had a fun moment yesterday, I got killed by an invisible torpedo, that is a first for me... Proof is in the replay at about 10 minute mark. Kirov - invisible torpedo.rar

I'd rather hope they will do something about the Z-52, it is so underwhelming...

Have you ever expirienced the pain of Lexington? The crap you have to put up with in that ship is beyond belief... I caved in after 12 games where I was constantly matched in TX matches, where the only viable target was the enemy CV. Everything else simply wiped my planes out. So I opened my wallet and spend a hefty sum on freexping to Midway and it was one of the best decisions I have made. Finally you can do something. Typical stock Midway game: http://imgur.com/a/3ObSU

I'd love to see the fort and surveilence station armor schemes... Where the hell am I supposted to aim?

If you are going to skip NO, skip Baltimore too, those were the two worst grinds I have ever endured in WoWs

The real question is, does overmatch come to play? If so, the skill si broken beyond belief, if not, we will have to wait and see in matches, since I have no bandwith to download the PTS...

Other games are running just fine, tested with WoW, StarCraft 2, Dawn of War 1 and 2. Smart data return ok state, will run memtest tonight, but didn't notice any signs of bad ram (random BSODs etc.) plus this is the only map I get theese on. Not a gamebreaking issue, but strange one, they fade out as I get closer.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 550M CPU: Intel I7-2630QM @ 2GHz 10gigs of ram running windows 10, 64 bit been playing on this laptop since CBT with no problems (40-50 FPS ish range). Recently (month ago) I had to change my screen so I went from 1080p to 720p, other than that there were no changes made to the hardware.

Dispersion (=luck factor) = OK: but it should affect ALL ships

The UI responsiveness is awful in WoWs, comparing it to StarCraft is a joke... CVs have a lot of options at their hands, but also a great risk - you loose a squadron that didn't do anything and you have to wait for 1 minute twirling your hands... The main problem is being undertiered in a CV (mainly in T8) I had to freexp to TX in order not to go crazy... The US with their balanced setups worked really well for me - you can stand up to the IJN 2/2/2 well. As a US CV you rely on dots - flood a target, wait for DMC then bomb him and enjoy free damage, or vice versa,,, Giving CVs more RNG than they have right now would be a killer -
Pensacola. Seriously, check my stats in her. She is the AP and accuracy monster and agile enough to avoid most of the return shots. I wish for a better concealment, but hey, as soon as you are spotted you know you are being shot at in her.

No no and once again no... The dive bomber RNG is bad enough, and if the BB isn't half asleep she can counter the CV quite efficently - stay with your cruisers, turn in towards the planes, set them as your main AA target and you will see improvement. To the Sealclubbing - we all are guilty of it, admit it. I used to take out Albany (when T1 weren't separate) load AP and 15 point captain and proceed to slaughter the little seals. So no, limiting access to low tier CVs is a bad idea. Edit: Not to mention flooding RNG -
For the last few weeks I have retruned to playing CVs (even going as far as transferring a high skilled commander to them) and I have to say in the super heavy BB/DD meta we have, it is quite a joy to play them. I am right now about halfway through the Ranger and am really curious (and worried) about the Lexington. The enjoyment comes from matches, where I'm top/mid tier, since the AA (when choosing the right targets) is not preventing me completely from executing my strikes (running 1/1/1) even though the german BBs especially make me pay a lot of planes for it. On Ranger the habits gained from preceeding CVs change quite a bit and you're allowed to throw away some planes here and there. The beauty comes in the perfectly executed air raids, with staggered attacks in order to "beat" the DMC cooldown, the strifing power of USN fighters. Previously I though that the 2/2/2 setups on IJN carriers are really OP and while I think that should I switch to them I'd have even more succes than in the US CVs, I find that if you are able to strife efficently and not get caught by both squads of their fighters you have a good chance against them. I am really looking foward to the Lexingtons 1000P bombs. The pain comes, when I'm the lowest tier, RNG and clunky UI. Every top tier ship has a big spike in AA protection and most of the time I can't even get a strike off on relatively "weak" targets like Izumo - I loose all my planes before they get their strike off. And sometimes the only viable target is the enemy CV, since the DDs duked it out allready and trying to engage Iowas and Missouries is a rather bad idea. I am really worried that from the moment I get to Lexi, I will be matched mostly in TX matches and the AA spike is even greater there (hey I should know I used to run full AA Des Moines in CBT) and am worried about the T8 grind, any expirience with it? However there is a bigger problem and that is the dive bomber RNG. I use manual drops of course and I can't count the times I have executed a great strike, only to have all the bombs miss a perfectly centered target and going wtf just happened? The biggest problem still is the UI. The controls should be standardized to RTS. Left click to target, right click to order and don't let me edit the waypoints for planes, it's rather stupid. Plus there are times when the UI simply gets stuck and I can't issue any orders unless I recall said air group or try to unstuck it with multiple clicks (with shift held/released and other craziness). Manual torpedo drops? Awesome Strifing? Ok-ish, sometimes it seems like the planes started to stife, but in reality they are just turning around three times because they can't seem to find the starting point of the strife. Manual dive drops? Awful. The time planes take to drop their bomb is inconsistent. Sometimes the strike gets executed immidietly, usually it takes about 2 seconds for the planes to get from the start of the circle to the drop area and drop, and sometimes it takes about 5 seconds, asuming of course you have not derped up the strike and got your planes too close. That combined with the crazy RNG (hitting and damage spread is sipmly crazy you can get 1 hit for 6K or you can get 4 hits for the same amount - or 4 times that) makes dive bomber strikes feel clunky and non rewarding. Lastly I worry about the future. I have returned to the CVs since every game I play has 5 BBs per side in it and taking out cruisers is a tremendous pain. I have my Des Moines and Hindenburg mostly sitting in port gathering dust. While I am having a field day in Gearing and am mostly ok in Z52 (13.8 kliks after firing? Seriously WG?) I want the cruisers to have a role again and increasing the CV population gets them one. Or it would have, but the new 6.0 skills are coming. Why would you need a cruiser escort, when you can launch 2 catapult planes per BB? Even now there are BB balls being formed in high tiers - with german hydro and the semi-hydro capabilities of catapult fighters the DDs (unless you are in gearing, packing DE and fire flags) will become less effective and same goes to CVs - imagine having to deal with 6 catapult fighters at the same area (assuming that from the 5 BBs, 2 are KM). And the CV skills are more of a hinderance than a buff (which by the way seems to be a theme if you are not playing a BB). What will happen to this game I love, when there are only BBs in the queue?

It is strange but I am having hell of a time in Midway... If you are smart enough to avoid seriously bad fights, you can make her work even in stock config (HEY WG why is it that every other ship type has max config? Spare the DD torps, the xp investment to get Midway elited is crazy). Average game with stock everything exept for fighters: http://imgur.com/a/3ObSU

So after 12 Lexington games where I have constantly been matched into TX matches I caved in and spent my free xp to get to the Midway. Aaand so far so good. I still have to upgrade the planes to TX (didn't have quite enough free xp since I have gone for Z52 quite recently), but the stock config is awesome. Now I am not loosing planes when attacking BBs even before they can land a strike, I am getting reliable drops and dive bombings and the 2 fighters are just enough to be annoyance to anyone. Last game today I had 230 K damage done and am really looking foward to upgrading the planes tommorow. Yes the UI is still finicky, and the waiting times are crazy (11 minutes) but it is worth it. Midway is the punished I had hoped so much she will be.

I think that what we really need is an UI update and changing the loadout system... Picking what you want to do even before you know what awaits you ingame is a crappy system.

For me I stuck with the 1/1/1 setup and had most succes with it in Ranger. If you have commaner with air supermacy, and go against an IJN CV without it, you can start laughing, because now with proper use of strifing and not getting baited in bad fights with your fighters (example don't fight above the enemy Cleveland) you will absolutely dominate. I have gone up against strike Rangers and while they can be really dangerous (especially when they try to snipe you) once you know they are coming for you (no planes in the sky for a long time) you can just return your fighters to your ship and enjoy strifing down their whole strike package. What really suprised me is that I have seen a lot of AS Lexingtongs in my battles, not sure why, maybe the air war is easier than trying to go against TX AA?
-
Yea the 2/2/2 is a pain, but can be dealt with using good strifing runs... I really don't like the strike package, if the enemy CV has any fighters, you are guaranteed a bad game... With the 1/1/1 I can usually take down about 45 planes and do about 130K in a T8 match whitch I find acceptable. So you had a great game in Lexington 2 months ago... Congratulations.
-
So today I upgraded to the Lexington and spent quite a lot of free xp to get her to the potential. I am sticking with the 1/1/1 flight module. Boy is it a pain. Every match there are TX ships, your planes fall from the sky even before they get close enough to consider a strike and BB balls rule the seas... And yea when you can survive to the later stages it gets better, since the AA modules get damaged and there are less catapult fighters and IF you can find a T8 BB then the damage to lost planes ratio is good, but finding those, well... it's rare... The grind will be painfull. But I really hope that the AA power spike gets offsetted by Essex and Midway...

Invisifiring - A simple solution.

We seriously don't need another buff to BBs... The new captain skills are enough -
Do you like the new skills? Do you think skills are what WG should be working on right now?
Horin728 replied to tenacious_torps's topic in General Discussion
It feels like all the buffs are focused on BBs while everyone else is getting shafted, which is the exact opposite of what I'd do, since there are about 3 times as many BBs as other classes... -
I love BB crying... there is something so... Sweet about it

So I was watching Notsers stream (https://www.twitch.tv/notser), Ichase confirms it, and found out that the german DDs had about 4 km concealment after firing nerf... With no testing done on it... Clap... Clap... Clap... Clap...
-
Yesterday was the first time I/Notser/Ichase heard about it, so if it was, it wasn't publicised at all. The problem isn't the chance itself, rather its implementation - it was changed right on launch with 0 testing done after the nerf. The funny thing is that the after firing detection range stays same if you use 150 or 128. And where else should one look for impressions and recomendations? Sure the TX gets the german hydro, but trying to knifefight while being constatnly spotted by everyone... well... "I have just tested the Chikuma and found it not fun, therefore the whole line is not fun" - especially with KM DDs, the playstyle changes significantly going up tiers - you loose the foward facing torp, you gain hydro...

Well on Okinawa if you can get into defendable position you can have great games with DM, lobbing shells and scaring everything off without being seen. But only as long as you're invisible.
