Yes ofcourse. That Gneisenau got t-boned but should that destroy my Bismarck? As I pointed out many times: ships are not torpedos.
-
Yes, if you come around a tight passage. You could survive 3 torps but make a decision to try and avoid. Realising too late you will ram.
-
More dumb examples: Cruiser gracing you almost frontally = total destruction. Cruiser hitting your stern = total destruction. Both trying to avoid each other accidently bumping = total destruction.
-
Accidental ramming. I was avoiding torpedos. My point is: A sitting Gneisenau with a few hundred HP and a Bismarck with about 50% left touching each other. Both explodes, THAT makes no sense. Ships are NOT torpedos.
-
Hmm, seems Im a ramming magnet. I got those 1438 battles and I have multiple rammings already.
-
Yes it happened. Gneisenau was camping (stood still) behind island. I came around and managed to get only 1 torpedo hit, that plus secondaries and 1 main salvo later from Gneisenau we made contact. Either way, at moment of contact I get Gneisenaus full HP as damage to my ship.
-
Not true: Two parameters are used when calculating ramming damage; the mass (base Hit Points) of the colliding ships, and their relative speed to each other.
-
I play aggressively, specially in Bismarck. Somehow players panic and goes for ramming.
-
WOW Hire this guy!
-
Another strange incident. I took on a Gneisenau with Bismarck, I had about 60% health and Gneisenau was melting. When avoiding her torps My Bismarck steered towards her, I went full reverse but drifted slowly into Gneisenau which had only a couple of hundred HP left. Boom, we both died.
-
As it is now every ship is a torpedo that deals full HP damage.
-
That is true, unfortunately they calculate HP as displacement. At least speed and angle should be a factor.
-
If you t-bone a vessel (90°) you would impact 90 % of capped HP. Then the damage reduces according to angle 45° = 45% damage et.c. You could set 10% as minimum (almost frontal).
-
Thats the problem, no matter angle, speed or HP left the damage is always full HP damage of the smaller vessel.
-
At least they should take angle of impact into account. Ships gracing each other should not deal 100% damage.
-
Yes, they can be catastrophic but not "instant death" catastrophic. Its a tactic they say but a few games has become frustrating when a puny cruiser with 10 HP hits you in an 10°angle and destroys your BB that has 80% left. The post suggested a better mechanic like the one in WoT.

Hi Bismarck is a handful. For the last 2 captain skills: High Alert or Expert Marksman? Equipment (slot 5): DCSM2 or SGM2? Stats and motivations are appreciated. Edit: I see that many prefer FP, is it really that justified? I mean its 4 points. Wouldnt SI and HA be of more importance? You get torped alot too.
-
To be honest, I got better in Gneisenau before I got Bismarck. Aggressive play in a group was key. Also you have to minimize your detection range. Thats the one that made you "priority" target.
-
@Commander_Cornflakes Thank you for good points. I went for secondary build, maan those reactions when Bismarcks secondaries starts hammering at 13,7 km. Edit: as pointed out its 11,3 km...
-
With only 2 sonars (without SI) thats hard to now when to activate. Many ninja torpers out there. Some skip BFT, isnt that a must have for Bismarck?

Nice one. Subtle yellow on turrets seems more accurate, like Tirpitz version. Ingame "crosses" are horrible. -
Just point me to "unpacker" and Im good from there. Done many things in photoshop. dds used to be easy.
-
Hi Finally got Bismarck and I already have the special camo from the summer missions. When they left Korsfjord they had painted over the swastikas, later at sea they allegedly painted top of turrets yellow. The turrets ingame look nice but the "flags" on deck are awful. Is there a way to change this in e.g. photoshop?

Well, spent so much time with her Im not gonna sell. VERY tricky to master. So dependent on your teams behaviour. NOT a yolo-solo ship like Emile. To anyone going for Gneisenau, what I learnt. Never ever lead a charge, your speed and bad guns will get you in trouble very fast. Suddenly your team has changed direction and you are far ahead taking shots from 8 enemies unable to do crap in return. Stick together with a bunch of brave cruisers and DDs making life hard for cappers or lonely heroes. Change direction alot and/or hide behind islands and peek 1 enemy a time. Torp alot.
