@Air_Cheese for what it’s worth might be an idea to send the replay to The Mighty Jingles he tends to like featuring those kind of endings.

Given the way the Russian players on the PTS complain bitterly if you kill them or even dare shoot at them, I do have to wonder what their chat ban rates are like.

Since detonations are worthless, why are they still an achievement

Oh i know why detonations remain they are a great resource sink, I was referring to the 'achievement' aspect. -

Its either WG being their typically lazy selves or they are just rubbing salt into the wound. -
Its a pity that Ocean is such a rare map and its a real shame that so many people don't like it I assume because there are no islands to hide behind. Anyway wait until subs go live then you will see really passive camping gameplay that will make the current situation seem so much more active.

The match making issue of often being bottom tier I know is an older discussion and I cannot personally see that changing anytime soon. Although I’m very surprised that the OP finds CVs encourage movement, it’s been my experience that they cause quite the opposite. Well save for people who sail around the back of the map swapping flanks but that’s another issue. I see a lot more active and aggressive play when there isn’t a CV present.

Nope no news, and I can’t say I see that as a bad thing.

ST 0.10.7, changes to submarines and ASW upgrades and armament (DB 181)
lovelacebeer replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
If your really that incapable of seeing what you did wrong there then clearly Submarines will not suit you, look where your battleships and cruisers are not every ship is a 40 knot DD so constantly using that excuse is getting tiresome as well as disingenuous. You miss positioned and suffered the consequence of your error its that simple. Anyway its evident your not willing to see that so I will leave the conversation there, you may continue to enjoy your self delusions. -

Look at the position of your team in relation to yourself, its blindly obvious you are in a position where you have isolated yourself behind hard cover from your team and therefore suffered the consequences of your actions. -

Its not that difficult if you do not yolo rush forward blindly, i really cannot fathom why you seem to want subs to be immune from the consequences of over extending. Anyway its quite obvious we are incapable of agreeing on this so lets leave this futile discussion as it stands. -

If a sub is chasing a sub then they are working at roughly the same speed and plenty of ships have to deal with that, im sure more than a few BB players get more than a little annoying being shadowed by a enemy DD keeping them spotted. I still dont see the problem in this regard. The fact that also torps are getting faster this might even be intentional that subs are not meant to really counter each other directly, I'm not so certain that's the reason but it would at least be realistic, currently the only instance of a submerged sub being sunk by another was when HMS Venturer sank U-864. On this we have to utterly disagree situation awareness isn't selective, its not exclusive to fast ships or long range ones. You either are paying attention or your not. True but Subs are meant to be a griefing class from the very first test that's been painfully obvious that was WGs design for them both to fellow subs and to surface ships. -

Thats what situational awareness is for, like with DDs you don’t just mindlessly yolo rush without being aware of the situation anyway those ASW planes are pretty easy to avoid. Their influence will be less than CVs for sure but I don’t see them being any less influential than cruisers and they are more than capable of making a DDs life a lot harder, especially given the spotting potential. I certainly don’t see sub gameplay as having so many factors no more or less than a DD already has. Not do I see such an issue with the speed, like I said before if they had realistic speed I would see your point, but they are more than fast enough in game. The only issue is if the player has massively and stupidly over extended and in that case just like with every other class in game will get punished for such a error. -

When two subs encounter each other it will either come down to either who is the better player or who had the better situational awareness to make sure teammates are near by, which seems eminently fair. It it would be nice if subs had a choice in different torp type say speed vs damage can only suggest it to WG and hope they listen. Im not so sure about sub influence, I’m very confident they will have a significant impact on the meta and especially upon DD gameplay, still guess we will have to wait and see. -

is this a new trend when playing petro ?
lovelacebeer replied to kapnobathrac's topic in General Discussion
Although certain ships do attract reports such as Belfast or Kamikaze and maybe GC, without seeing the replay it’s impossible to say if the reason was purely from playing the Petro. -

lovelacebeer replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
I certainly didn’t struggle with the speed of subs even submerged, in fact it was a particular strategy I found effective was to get the attention of a DD so it would try to chase me down luring it into the guns of my teammates. Against CVs of course then the speed was an issue but that’s true for all other vessels in game. As for increasing flexibility in game that’s difficult with subs as they are a very refined tool, what would you give them to make them more flexible ? -

lovelacebeer replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
If subs had their realistic speed I would see your point, but as they stand I wouldn’t exactly call them slow, and they only loose their stealthiness in certain situations. Still subs are very new so it’s going to take time for people to adapt their play style. I found subs extremely effective at blocking pushes and ideally suited to defensive play lockdown and blocking caps/ flanks. -

To be fair this game does punish over extending a lot for all classes, I guess I’m more used to it from playing DD. -

I only really found it an issue late game when only subs were left alive. Otherwise the subs are so fast it really wasn't difficult to lure the enemy sub back to a friendly DD or other surface as your draining their battery too so it was boring but hardly unbearable. -

It is extremely boring isn’t it but I can’t see that changing, I guess the best strategy is to run back to the team for support. -

I really do hope so because so far periscope depth has been weirdly useless. -

Detonations will remain purely because there is a flag in the arsenal (aka armoury) that you can buy using coal or credits it’s a useful resource sink for WG.
