Will you participate in the up coming ranked battles featuring submarines?
lovelacebeer replied to lovelacebeer's topic in General Discussion
Thank you to everyone who has replied it’s been very interesting reading. I’m not at all surprised that many people are curious to try and I have to admire WGs cunning by doing the testing in ranked so they don’t have to offer extra incentives/ rewards. I was actually surprised by how low (relatively speaking) the uptake was of people choosing option 1, but if that 15% is carried across the player base at large I’m sure WG will consider it a hugely popular success.- 52 replies

lovelacebeer replied to lovelacebeer's topic in General Discussion
There has been no mention of specific rewards for playing subs. We get bundles in the armoury with either 100 coal or a rental sub to control population. However the only actual rewards are the standard ranked battle rewards for getting promoted.- 52 replies

True it would mainly be a British aspect, although also Friesland has forward firing ASW. Why not make great ASW a British DD character, I think we could make a pretty reasonable argument the Royal Navy has some experience in anti submarine warfare. However of course that won’t happen WG would never allow existing ships to have great potential they need to create the problem before releasing the solution whether that’s premium or new tech tree. It’s all part of the same problem WG want to shove subs in but without any of the necessary work and effort. -
Are subs coming to random battles, sooner or later?
lovelacebeer replied to Cippalippus's topic in General Discussion
Your probably right but I’m hopeful (naively so maybe) that the reaction on ranked will be like the Rubicon event on WOT and be so badly received even WG have to revise their timetable. I can hope anyway… -

One thing that still bugs me is how half hearted the ASW element is, now we know from previous experience WG don't provide ready solutions to issues they create, they sell us New Solutions to solve the problems that they introduce. So this is where I raise the issue of ships that had forward firing anti submarine weapons. Currently destroyers and some cruisers have to sail over the target submarine (which is true up until the invention of the Hedgehog and subsequent mortar systems) to depth charge it, given that subs have cartoon levels of speed in game surely these forward firing weapons would be exceedingly useful. The problem is HMS Daring had her squid mortar removed in game back when subs were first announced. So we are left with HMAS Vampire II and her Squid as well as HMS Druid and her Limbo mortar and of course the Friesland. So will WG ever get around to implementing those weapons systems on the existing ships (unlikely in my opnion) or will new alternative ships with working ASW mortars appear? lovelacebeer replied to Cippalippus's topic in General Discussion
Although they have said it is their intention to put subs into all game modes, as of yet there is no indication when they will be put into randoms. I assume they will decide what that timetable will be based upon uptake and feedback from the testing done in ranked battles. -
People who play PTS, did WG fixed the torpedo bug?
lovelacebeer replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
Although I didn’t actively test to be 100% certain I still very much got the impression the bug was still there. I honestly would be utterly astonished if WG had fixed it for the PTS. -

Yeh that’s certainly and depressingly “the party line” of how WG understand the issue. -

Very true I doubt WG have really thought about this either they always vastly underestimate the effect of CV spotting, let’s hope the PTS tests reveal such influence. -
Guess it could be classed as a small skirmish

Dutch Cruisers. What's The Verdict?
lovelacebeer replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Not really seeing the appeal to be honest, they seem rather mediocre and balanced around the potential of the air strike which doesn’t remotely interest me, as such I’m not bothering to play them I would be a detriment to my team in them. Will save the early access ones for snowflake events in coop but that’s it. -

Not bad over all the birthday gifts are always welcome. I’m very keen to try the convoy mode although I’m sure quite a lot of players won’t grasp the concept of defending the convoy but hey that’s wows. I also like the alternative designers table but I hope it doesn’t permanently replace the old designers table it would be great to have the choice of the two. Not so interested in the Russian CV event but only because the class bores me and being totally fantasy project not even appealing as port queens (but that’s just me, I’m sure others will be happy and good for them). -
Poll: what is your level of trust in WG as a company?
lovelacebeer replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
It’s funny just how much WOWS has changed, I remember when they tried Bastion mode seemed a good idea but wasn’t well received and so was scrapped, simple player engagement but showed they cared. Now every loot box event is more cynical and the same tired excuses of communication issues whenever there is a PR screw up. Simply this isn’t the same game it once was, although you can’t please everyone at least in the past they did seem to actually care about making a fun and successful game, so different these days sadly.- 80 replies

Questionaire ended really fast...
lovelacebeer replied to Deckeru_Maiku's topic in General Discussion
I have heard of others having the same experience. Can’t say I’m surprised though WG only wants positive feedback after all asking WHY we are not happy doesn’t fit with their spreadsheets. -
Write here your biggest everyday annoyance when in WOW
lovelacebeer replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
Although I have already given my biggest annoyance a close second and the one I felt most keenly today is: When battleships and cruisers blindly focus on shooting max range enemy BBs when there are spotted and pinged enemy DDs in the cap with their friendly DDs, yet said BB players won’t demean themselves to shoot the enemy DDs even with direct line of sight. I think we all know the frustration of when friendly DDs won’t spot or contest caps, but why is it when DDs do their job they seem to be always paired up with BBs who are utterly oblivious to support or even be aware what’s going on. -
Now the question is how long before the first thread complaining they are shocked they didn’t get what they expected.

True the real HMS Cardiff does have history attached and I know it’s a WG convention not to use real ship names for their paper ships, but let’s be honest WG conventions basically mean nothing to them. Also at best the C class could be a tier 3 or 4 cruiser, there no way would WG go to the effort of making her a premium as I cannot imagine there are nearly enough Welsh players of the game for WG to make the effort of modelling her.
-
Seems a fair enough suggestion. Can’t say I like the look of the ship but WG do go out of their way to make the fantasy British heavy cruisers as ugly as sin.
-
I really cannot get my head around these weird designs for the Royal Navy ships WG come out with, good god they are ugly. Still I saw on the stream a suggestion it be renamed HMS Cardiff which seems fair the Welsh player base would appreciate it I'm sure.

Please do not remove tier 7/9 from Ranked Battles.
lovelacebeer replied to Alex_steel_45's topic in General Discussion
Submarines only appear on tiers 6,8 and 10. This upcoming ranked battle season is primarily focused on testing the submarine project so that’s why it’s only even tiers. Im not a fan of this fact, it’s just how WG are doing things. -
Submarines in Ranked and Co-op Battles
lovelacebeer replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Honestly I’m not bothered about how historically inaccurate the submarine performance is or how they are used in game. I just seriously doubt WG are capable of introducing subs in a fun and balanced way the CV rework saga wasn’t exactly fun to go though and I’m expecting this to be just as unpleasant.
