Sadly probably not we don’t want to frighten the Russian playerbase with such a dangerous and mighty fleet.

Don’t worry a year and a half down the road they will say ok mistakes were made with the rushed introduction of submarines and we have learnt from those mistakes, but don’t worry now when introducing gold ammo and or minelayers we have a much better idea of what we are doing.

I can’t be the only one getting flashbacks to when the CV rework first went live and certain individuals said everything was fine in 0.8.0 people just needed to use teamwork.

I do hope they do remove them from randoms and create an alternative testing arena for their submarine development. Sadly I think WG intend to do all further testing in random battles just like they did for the first year of the CV rework.
-
Just wait for all the fun that will come with the introduction of the I-400 and HMS M2 submarines, because what wouldn’t be more fun than combining a CV and a submarine.
-
Both are pretty damn unpleasant to play against and whilst i loath the presence of CVs in game, subs in their current state are arguably worse. Now give subs 2 years of patches and changes like CVs have gone though potentially subs have a chance of being the lesser of the two evils. Sadly WG have learnt nothing from the CV rework and it’s not as though WG are giving us an either/or choice between subs and CVs, both are toxic grief designs that WG seem to idolise..

Saving Transylvania HARD is TOO HARD for the average player
lovelacebeer replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Sorry if this is a stupid question but is there somewhere on the forum to find people looking to do operations rather than relying on randoms? Only my own clan whilst very pleasant are not into operations. -
In part I would say it depends on how you like to play. The Japanese DDs are a good line to learn on and have good concealment going up the line so that can be handy when getting used to DD games and learning about over extending. Otherwise the British DDs also do get reasonably good concealment plus the hydro can be very handy avoiding enemy torps plus the short term smoke is nice for when you need to run away. If your a bit more of an aggressive player who wants to contest caps the Brits might suit you more of if your patient and more cautious the Japanese would appeal. However I would leave one word of caution, WG are introducing submarines and DDs are very much on the sharp edge of this experiment. Whilst I cannot advice on how to deal with this as a DD I would perhaps not be in a rush to learn DD gameplay at this time.

Careful, knowing WG they might take that to be a challenge and redouble their efforts. -
Developer Bulletin for Update 0.10.10
lovelacebeer replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
With the division achievements are they possible to earn if you form a division during the game or are they only valid if you entered the battle in a division? -
Had a weird event where 2 bot battleships and a bot DD in CoOp couldn't move they were able to fire their guns and torps but were totally stationary all battle long. Never seen this before so i assume its new. Screen shot provided to show they are still in their original starting positions.

WG evidently feel the need to force submarines into the game, if they allowed players the choice to use training rooms that could potentially lead to less Submarines in random battles and WG don’t want that. From a gameplay/ player perspective their decisions might not make much sense, but from a marketing and business perspective (where subs were no doubt deemed an unrivalled success even before testing) its perfectly logical.
-
Oh I know that feeling so well, it’s amazing how much fire support you mysteriously get once you have managed to do 98% (and rising) of the job. Ah well the joys of team games and the best feeling ever is when their “kill secure” fails and you still get the kill then they complain so so much.

Why aren't we getting Deadeye back?
lovelacebeer replied to Shirakami_Kon's topic in General Discussion
Chances are it will come back just under a new name in a few months. Submarines create a much more passive meta than deadeye ever could. In such a passive meta the less skilled BB players will struggle to cope landing any shots, so WG will end up reintroducing a rebranded deadeye. -
I get the impression that because Submarines are essentially torp only weapon platforms it’s feast or famine. I guess the closest experience would be that of the Kamikaze being such a specialised ship. Even then at least she can fall back on her guns if you get an enemy who refuse to cooperate and take your torpedoes. Mind you I’m guessing like with the Kami the spotting you provide can be invaluable to your team ( even if inadequately rewarded).

Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
lovelacebeer replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
Imagine if that was an actual choice WG gave us, the arguments would be epic. -
Passive sonar captain skill or module for DD's and cruisers
lovelacebeer replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
It’s a good idea that would allow for some counterplay, so sadly WG will totally ignore it.- 47 replies

Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
lovelacebeer replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
The problem at least as far as I can tell is WG seriously underestimated the complexity of submarine warfare, they arrogantly thought they could just shoehorn in Submarines thinking of them as just a alternative type of DD, with diving instead of smoke. The thing is submarine warfare is a very complex and a very different kind of warfare, for those of us who have played good dedicated submarine games like Silent Hunter 3 etc there is a lot of fun to be had. However WG have not thought about how submarines will impact the overall gameplay experience, and how they themselves have designed the game in terms of spotting/ positioning. I honestly love good submarine games and I love the history around them (I strongly recommend the Submarine museum in Gosport btw) the problem is WG have been unforgivably lazy and inept in their development of this project. -
I look forward to one of the usual suspects explaining how much fun you must have been having in that situation. Just remember:
-
At least it’s submarine free so I’m happy to play brawls.
-
On one hand I think anyone bonkers enough to spend that kind of money gets what they deserve and it’s their choice. On the other hand if WG are getting that kind of money for early access why the devil do they feel the need to monetise other things and very dubious business practices around short lists from loot boxes. So I’m left remembering the old adage “there is nothing easier than separating a fool from his money”.

Every ship with ASW planes now has scouting/radar functionality?
lovelacebeer replied to RamboCras's topic in General Discussion
Having watched a few streamers playing in randoms I’m surprised how often battleships are sending out their ASW planes against surface ships even spotted ones. Im assuming either WG have apparently failed to adequately communicate ASW planes don’t harm surface targets, people hope their opponents panic thinking it’s a Dutch air strike or people just love plating with buttons when their guns are on cool down. On the upside I guess handy if your farming air kills. -

It is a really bad design and a sign of just how lazy WG are in their development of submarines. The allies did develop acoustic jamming devices to confuse the Germans acoustic torpedos. The British version was called Foxer: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxer
