I was eagerly awaiting this game ever since WG announced it (was playing WOT at the time) joined in open beta and surprisingly still here, for now at least.

subs are not ready to enter public server and are bugged like hell

Although I’m probably not good enough myself, can always enjoy that feeling of superiority over the peasantry -
Is anybody besides me playing only brawls to seek refuge from subs?
lovelacebeer replied to Cippalippus's topic in General Discussion
Not yet, but they will once they think they know what subs are meant to be like. To be fair they would be utter fools to sell the I-400 for anything less than £500 considering the dedicated following that boat has. -

Step one: sell your soul to WG Step two: in the missions tab there is a mission to get subs, I think to get the tier 6 you need to just earn 12,500 xp, but best to check the missions tab to be sure. -
General Submarines related discussions
lovelacebeer replied to YabbaCoe's topic in General Discussion
Well I got sufficiently bored and tried out the Subs on the PTS, so in the forlorn hope (I know even I laugh at that) WG gives a damn about feedback. The shift towards conventional torps is a welcome one and they are very powerful, often more useful against human players than against bots. The one thing I found strange was how the ping system is still included according to the information provided by the UI a single ping reduces the detectability of the torps however the ping in of itself is a warning of torps and tells the target to watch out. As such I found it better not to ping unless they were AFK and in that case it was the 2 ping do more damage option I was after. Homing torps are still pretty agile and found them very/too effective still, so effective I honestly never needed the conventional style torps and I only used them out of a personal choice to test them. The shift towards conventional torps is a welcome one in my view, however the inclusion of the ping mechanic lacks thought put into it. Now I know WG want to make a sort of mini game using the pings to fill the time and alleviate the boredom that is sub play as they have designed it (seriously I have never found any other submarine game to be boring but the way WG have designed subs they are boring) however this needs more work. Anti sub play the issues that have been highlighted by myself and many others remain and I don't see any point repeating them yet again. In short its unpleasant not engaging and tedious, as well as often time wasting. -

I’m only really doing a couple of co op games a day and otherwise just playing other games. -
For me I’m still drawn these models;

Hi all not sure if this will be of interest to any of you but whilst checking out some local auctions I came across this one for various naval items. Some things that might catch attention are HMS Exeter’s battle ensign from the Battle of the River Plate, various spot lamps, some stunning models etc. Now I’m of course not advocating anyone spend any money on this but can be an interesting look: https://www.charlesmillerltd.com/auction/search/?au=56&g=1 Also thank you to @YabbaCoe for allowing me to post this thread

I have always assumed a lot of the P2W claims against the R is either by people who don’t know it was earned in the Pearl event, or because of the 3 sisters the R has the better stats over all for damage etc -
Buff the action time of "Damage Control Party"
lovelacebeer replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
The whole ping and damage con aspect is really bad game design. It shows just how little effort WG are putting into the submarine project. Let’s hope with the current testing on non homing torps help encourage WG to reassess the ping system or finally put some thought into how it impacts everything else. -

I have been testing the unguided torps on the PTS and they are exceedingly effective it’s almost like subs don’t even need guided weapons, I mean who would have thought it… -
Goodbye Captains, it was nice sailing with you!

Sub blog out. Cheat torps retained, but other asked-for changes are implemented
lovelacebeer replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
CVs should really go one better the allied ones could be equipped with historically accurate homing anti submarine torpedos: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_24_mine -
Submarines: 2 weeks of Random Battles testing (DB 237)
lovelacebeer replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
Well at this rate in about 2-3 years subs wouldn’t be a totally appalling addition, I would still rather play a good dedicated submarine game but that’s another matter entirely. -
From an artistic point you may be right, but I would have to PM you my counterpoint or I would probably get a forum ban
-
To be fair the person highlighted in the OP is WGs idea of a perfect customer.
-
Seeing as ship dropped depth charges rely on said ship getting over the sub which is often impractical given the way battles are in game, it seems as reasonable idea as any if WG remain intransigent about homing torps for subs.

Another "Important message for the community"

That message has already outlived its purpose, WG make politicians look honest with how hollow their statements are.- 48 replies

Ah yes I remember this debate about using cancer to describe another class in game, I assume the poor mods will probably have to make a similar ruling about that word and submarines too. Its a difficult one as im sure many of us here have sadly lost family to that particular disease and I’m sure a few of us have had to deal with it ourselves which can make it either an emotive word or some people might find they are happy to use the word as the refuse to be cowed by it. The joys of online discussion.

It would certainly be interesting to see if there was a measurable drop in player numbers in random battles this update. Whilst I personally don't believe the game is dying, at the rate things are going it may well become dead to me in the foreseeable future.
-
Trust me Karma does nothing at all the help you get better teams, could you imagine the MM discussions if that were the case. Im not the best player of this game but I have a little over 800 karma and I get plenty of bad luck with team mates, karma just doesn't affect team lineups.
-
I would recommend some of the good submarine games then, like Silent Hunter 3 its great fun and you get to see a lot more about submarine warfare as a result including such weapons and proper tactics. Anyway people complaining has never stopped WG in the past from adding new content, so its a possible addition for the future, I'm just surprised CV players have not been advocating for it.
-
Just don't worry about Karma it doesn't matter how much you get its essentially worthless (save for the fact you get a few more reports/compliments once you get 100). I know the truly great CV mains get tons of positive karma due to their ability to help carry their teams but even then they get nothing from said karma. Karma may at one time have been designed with a purpose in mind, but these days WG just leave it as a vent for people in the hope it reduces the amount of rage in chat and the subsequent reports to support.

Im surprised CV players are not asking for their historically accurate Guided Anti Submarine torpedo's like Fido Mark 24 mine - Wikipedia
