I assume this particular thread might be linked to the OPs comment in the Russian CV thread, where he stated that Shimakaze was OP.

Thanks, WG. Subs now are officially TRASH!

More than a bit of an over reaction considering it is the first day and the homing torps are still a thing and the conventional torps work perfectly fine against the average straight lining BB. Now the pings on the conventional torps are stupid it’s like waving a big watch out flag at your target. -
As has been pointed out one new map is to be provided next year possibly two ( assuming you trust WGs promises) To be fair map development must be a lot slower now they have to develop the underwater environment and we have seen what a great job they have done building in surprise features of random shoals that stop your ship but there is no prior warning of them etc. Just another of the benefits of submarine project.

The funny thing for me is when anyone comes onto the forum and says this game is based on a rock, paper, scissors concept they get shouted down for saying such a thing - now WG have said they still intend for that to be the case.

Nothing this company says surprises me anymore, rather impressed they can say any of that with a straight face.

What's the best looking ship in your opinion?

Actually it’s usually at least in my experience not a lone DD that gets those kind of CV players but rather a whole flank collapsing and the CV refusing to move from his spawn point because “CVS don’t need to move”. To be fair bad players are common to all classes of ship in game it’s just part of gaming. Its just rather amusing when CV players seem to think they are commanding an island rather than a ship. -
I wouldn’t pooh pooh it that’s for sure.

Using pings on conventional style torps is extremely poor game design, but I think WG are convinced the ping mechanic is essential due to how boring submarine gameplay is in this game. -
I cannot see things getting better any time soon, rather 2 CVS and 2 Subs appears to be WGs ideal team composition.

I have had more than a few CV players vehemently argue that they do not have to move because they have planes. Then when they finally figure out they are being hunted they usually go crazy in chat complaining the team isn’t looking after them. -
To be fair he is probably more interesting to WG than those of us with thousands of games under our belt. Due to the fact we are essentially a depleted resource, they have already got the majority of the money they are likely to get from us. Although that’s all in general terms anyway, WG expect a degree of churn as players come and go. Whether it’s you, me or him none of us matter to WG as individuals this is business after all.

Sadly the subs are pretty guaranteed to stay and considering the appallingly poor effort by WG to implement them I can’t see it getting better anytime soon. Still plenty of other games out there just sadly non that do such a good job of visually representing naval warships. Enjoy your break OP I’m certain you won’t regret it.

Ah ok that’s a rather significantly different issue compared to what I had understood from you saying: “Imo the only british ship that truely "fought" in asia/pacific during ww2 would be repulse and prince of wales. “ Still yes your absolutely right the priority was the European theatre and Britain didn’t free up substantial resources for the Pacific theatre until relatively late. My guess he is referring to the “Singapore Strategy” where the British developed the naval base at Sembawang ready for if a war broke out with Japan the RN fleet would then be dispatched to Singapore and use it as a base of operations against Japan.
-
The T class were impressive boats and despite their size the U class were pretty effective too. Sadly I fear WG are incapable of doing submarine warfare credit but when they do eventually add British subs I hope a T class will make it into the tech tree they deserve it.

Just another wonderful aspect of a halfhearted and lazy project.

Sorry to be a spoil sport but before this thread goes down a rather Anglophobic rabbit hole perhaps we could come up with some ideas for content around the BPF. Given WGs utter obsession with submarines of late perhaps a video about HMS Tally Ho would be fun. Or operation Struggle using midget subs to seriously damage Takao, or the hunt for the Ashigara.

The WG "Sub_Octavian" replied to my Reddit thread about latest "Submarine Survey"...
lovelacebeer replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The thing you have to remember when opinion polling is first you have to collect the data then you have to interpret the data. You can guide the results of a survey by asking certain questions or targeting certain audiences if you so wish, however the actual analysis of the survey is the real art. -

Better late than never I guess -
Its very true the Pacific theatre was mainly a US v IJN affair but there was a fair amount of action for the British Pacific Fleet, far beyond Force Z. Earlier in the war you get the Battle of the Java Sea, later on you get events like Operation Dukedom where the RN hunted down the Haguro. Although the bulk of the RN efforts were with Task Force 37 based around the carriers Formidable, Implacable, Indefatigable and Victorious who were often used to absorb the brunt of Kamikaze attacks as RN carriers could withstand them far better than USN carriers.

I never said it was made up. I simply provided the likely source of his ire, I have no opinion as to any bias.
