Anyone know why they made the ARP ships premiums?
lovelacebeer replied to black_falcon120's topic in General Discussion
It is possible that the licence holder for ARP has either changed or at the very least their opinion of further collaboration with WG has changed. However I am not convinced that is the reason, mainly because the Southern and Eastern Dragon have also been included. Sadly it's probably something really mundane ie that it's easier for WGs coding of updates etc to just classify these ships as full premiums rather than having them sitting in a sort of halfway state. Still it would be nice if there was another collaboration for newer players to get the chance to have them. -
battleships with worthless secondaries secondaries
lovelacebeer replied to Hackerxe's topic in General Discussion
Whist it does vary from ship to ship as a couple of examples: HMS Warspites 6" (15cm) Mk XII secondaries had a range of almost 20 km, Bismarks 15cm SK C/28 secondaries had 23km range, Yamatos 15.5 cm 3rd year type secondaries just over 27km range, -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
lovelacebeer replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Ok well I learnt the Thunderer isn't designed to hunt down DDs but she can deal with them at least, certainly helped with my XP -
I would be completely in favour of CV only games, as clearly the CV mechanics are fine according to WG at least, all involved will have a very fun and engaging experience.

Name one developer who have broken more promises than WG.
lovelacebeer replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Clearly we can see that Wargaming guarantees, guarantee nothing (credit to anyone who gets the film I'm paraphrasing from), so the key thing is to remember this fact should they ever promise anything in the future. Whilst in an ideal world we would like to think when a company makes a pledge we can believe them it's hardly unusual for companies to be untrustworthy. So with that it mind when dealing with any company the best advice is buyer beware, think carefully before you buy and really check the fine details before spending money. -
I had one today that opened ok, but from what I remember their surveys expire quite fast so although you click on the link the survey is already gone, that might be what has happened to you.

opinionated review 2019 - a year in retrospect
lovelacebeer replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Certainly 2019 was my least favourite year for WOWS, Russian BBs, NTC Christmas event are all impressively bad ideas. Still the CV rework in my mind stands out head and shoulders above the other bad ideas that came out, and it is still far from a finished product despite WG loosing interest in it. Still we get to look forward to the introduction of subs I have total confidence that WG will mess things up even more in 2020. -
There will never be a BB with bigger guns then Yamato...
lovelacebeer replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Probably a very simple grind just pay a small access fee of 10,000 doubloons then play 23 hours and 45 minutes a day for a month. Or just volunteer to work for Russian intelligence in your local community oh and pay a small fee in doubloons. -
It does happen from time to time sadly, it has happened to me once where I was sitting on 6 kills and suddenly the power failed, I went pink for 3 battles and got reported a couple of times for appearing to go AFK. Its annoying but hardly the end of the world, as long as your internet connection is usually fine I really wouldn't worry about going pink you know in yourself you didn't do it on purpose and as its a 1 off you wont suffer any real consequences.

I'm not averse to grinding but I found the requirements for the PR to be more than I was willing to put in at Christmas, so I ignored the event and I'm happier for it. However considering how many people were willing to pay for the boosters and the Gorizia, from WGs perspective the PR event was a massive success. I'm certain we will see more events like this in the future.

Not an impressive damage score as I was DD hunting this battle, but when your bottom tier in a ship you don't really get on with you should not be top of the team. Mind you I did get reported by an angry BB because dodging is cheating apparently so that made me laugh.

Wow WG, just wow. Event still on but no tokens for daily's
lovelacebeer replied to Aldramelech's topic in General Discussion
Sadly it's the result of the way WG label things where they say the event ends of a certain date but what they mean is at 5 am on that date. I'm with Verblonde on this it would be smarter to say ends on the day before and the extra 4-5 hours game time is a handy bonus for people who stay up very late. Still this was the Puerto Rico event, nothing about this event has been handled well so it does kind of fit. -
I can live with that being the requirement, sadly whilst WG do love to make as much money as they can they will want to ram subs into random battles as fast as possible, so even they wouldn't be that greedy to put subs behind such a high pay wall.

My first time ever in the Gorizia, so certainly I am not getting the best out of her but was still second best on my team in terms of base XP. Still not often I see a draw any more

Did you get what you wanted from New Years Gifts and Rewards?
lovelacebeer replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
I had originally planned to grind the PR, and whilst I was aware the public test was naturally cheaper and easier I had not expected the grind to be quite as extreme as it turned out to be. So instead I just did the snowflakes as and when I could be bothered and mostly did non WOWS related things. Funnily enough before the actual grind information came out I was saying it would be hard and people were under estimating how hard it would be, but I was still shocked by how extreme the grind would be, so as a result the PR event was for me at least a disincentive to play. -
The Thunderer. Love her or Loathe her?
lovelacebeer replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
I have only just got her myself and I am loving her, good speed, reliable guns that reward aiming its everything I love in a BB and best part is well angled and manoeuvring you can tank a surprisingly large amount of damage. It probably helps I have the Hood so the Thunderer is a similar beast. -
I am both in awe of your determination and you also have my sympathy for enduring such a grind

TEAM KILLING PAYS! (according to Wargaming)
lovelacebeer replied to zeeschuimer's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest submitting a support ticket, I have little no to faith in the automated system so it wouldn't surprise me if it failed. -
Kind of curious what you did to need to apologise, but forgiveness is given to those who ask for it.

I never really got on with the Alsace, but for what it's worth I found what worked with me was to use the speed to hunt for cruisers and pull back fast, mostly relying on HE whilst kiting away from other BBs. In short hit and run Tactics, she doesn't seem to like fighting other BBs unless of course the enemy allows you to get close to their broadside. One word of warning I found it far too easy to over extend in the Alsace, so be extra careful to not let your teammates abandon you.

I was toying with the idea of getting the premium time but decided not to bother. I'm sadly expecting the introduction of subs to be such a complete mess that it will push me to stop playing for at least a couple of months, if not longer, and some recent decisions by WG have soured my desire to play. So for me it doesn't seem a worth while investment to get a years premium time if I'm not going to enjoy playing the game regularly. Also if my doubts are proven wrong and things get better I can always buy something, I just don't have confidence in WG to prove me wrong.

Would love to have the old AA sounds back they were far better. As for bathtub mode that was great fun but it will never come back, there is money to be made from selling us Space, Rust and Halloween camos so WG will chase after the money and ignore bathtub because it's fun but not profitable sadly.
-
Yeh that would be fine I'm happy with my Emden, Dreadnought etc and usually the grind reward ships are lower to mid tier so would be perfect. I mean if they want to do higher tier grinds too thats ok, I got the Benham for free and whilst a bit of a challenge I found that an acceptable grind.

Visually the Dockyard is stunning and Im fairly confident it will be reused as the time and money invested developing it won't be something WG are willing to throw away. My only hope is next time they are a bit more reasonable in the grind/price it's such a pity such a good idea as the dockyard is linked to the Puerto Rico cash grab
