WoWs v0.9.3 - Changes in the Armory (No more "Smolensk")!
lovelacebeer replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well I'm pleased that Smolensk will be removed and soon than I expected (although not soon enough for my liking). I was was planning to get the Black but I think I will wait for when she's a coal ship now -
It's worth a try at the very least, yes some people will find ways to exploit such a reward system because people always do it's human nature but it would act as an incentive to encourage most people to behave better, and those who don't want to have clearly made their choice. Still personally I believe karma is doing what it was intended to do, it's a vent for salty people who hate dying and a positive reinforcement to people who care about such things.

I know it was wrong but...
lovelacebeer replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
There is nothing quite as annoying as having a game with 200k or more spotting damage but next to no actual damage as the enemy team are running away right from the moment you spot them. -
I have noticed today watching the loading screen that several players across both teams were having a slow login. Now if it was just one person I would think it was their machine, but the fact it was noticeable across several battles makes me think it's something beyond the individuals control.

Well considering on the other thread currently running asking for operations to be brought back Mr Conway replied with the following: Well, we obviously know how many people play which kind of game mode and for how long. I know that the operations have a dedicated following, especially among many of the historical enthusiasts around here. I wish I had a better answer for you, but we need to consider the entire playerbase. We do have other cool ideas and things coming up that you will hopefully like though :) I think we can safely say no sadly we will never get many more operations, apologises for having to copy and paste for some reason I cannot convince my computer to quote from a different thread. However the source for my quote is:

What a vile bunch of players there are out there
lovelacebeer replied to Catanonia's topic in General Discussion
Honestly I don't find the level of chat any better or worse than most online experiences (keyboard warriors usually compensating for something) but if it bothers you then yes you can disable the chat feature, or if its especially bad submit a support ticket and follow the guidance there to show evidence of who said what. -
About those operations we are missing and a suggestion.
lovelacebeer replied to Otowi's topic in General Discussion
Well at least we know its not worth asking about operations anymore, the Almighty Spreadsheet has spoken and Operations are deemed not worthy. Let us await with trepidation the introduction of subs because that is what we are told we must want- 113 replies

About those operations we are missing and a suggestion.
lovelacebeer replied to Otowi's topic in General Discussion
I would love to see the missing operations return, but sadly as you said WG don't appear to be in a hurry to do that it would be nice to at least make it an option we can select. That way even if it's not set as the weekly rotation teams who know they can cope doing it in lower tiers can, but your not stuck with random teammates who's over confidence might exceed their actual abilities. -
Proof that players still use the minimap!
lovelacebeer replied to Oppressor_'s topic in General Discussion
Its a very original insult, pity he didn't put the same level of effort into paying attention before he was killed. In the meant time we need to watch out for those evil triangles. -
I'm obviously going to give them all a go, but having watched several CCs with them Im not sure I will really get on with them, they appear to be mini versions of the British battleships and far too dependant on their HE, great if I want to farm witherers but just not my play style.

Anyone else disappointed by the Swedi... Pan-EU DD line
lovelacebeer replied to MutsuAraAra's topic in General Discussion
It probably is just easier to built a line that could easily evolve up a tech tree, if a line is very mixed they will change gun calibre and torp type a lot, therefore harder to balance out. Still I'm confident the EU DD line will be expanded over time, they probably just want to think of a common theme to base a lines progression around. -
Thanks for the ARP ships! :D
lovelacebeer replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
Always an option for those who really dislike the filter personally it's never bothered me, still thank you for the suggestion. -
Thanks for the ARP ships! :D
lovelacebeer replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations, the camo might be a tad garish but I enjoy having some free ships and the voice overs are pretty entertaining -
She looks good and I can get some satisfying damage scores, he'll as long as I keep dodging portental damage soon racks up, but my win rate in her is appalling as I struggle to make any meaning full impact with her, at best your an annoyance and have to play quite selfishly. So I'm now using her only for operations, she's great in Killer Whale.

The only issue for me is a lot of WW1 ships essentially had no AA armament because they didn't need it. I know WG can be creative or throw in post war refits, but in all honesty considering the current state of tier 4 CVs I'm not sure how many people would want to play low tier ships that are basically defenceless. So unless WG created an alternative game mode or did something re low tier CV balancing (I sadly doubt they would do either) it's probably in their thinking not worth the effort developing low tier ships. Something i I find very regrettable as there were some fascinating designs and ships with some great history, especially for those of us who had ancestors who served at battles such as Jutland.

Why no CVs in matches of tier 7 an above?
lovelacebeer replied to ungabunga's topic in General Discussion
Can I have the OPs luck for having matches without CVs, it would make for a pleasant change from my usual run of luck, mind you I have been playing DDs a lot lately so no wonder the RNG gods hate me. -
Operation Killer Whale - a Tactical Challenge for the Tactically Challenged?
lovelacebeer replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
It's fairly rare but sometimes a bot DD spawns as part of your team called commander Jenkins, he is pretty suicidal but if you can complete the mission and keep him alive you earn an achievement. -
Operation Killer Whale - a Tactical Challenge for the Tactically Challenged?
lovelacebeer replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
I do enjoy this operation but like an operation there are a worrying number of people who don't understand the mission objectives, so I prefer to take faster ships like the PEF, Dunkerque or preferably cruisers actually im enjoying the HMS Devonshire for this operation. I refuse to take HMS Warspite she's too slow and too many cowards will camo behind you throwing away their speed advantage. The main aim issues are teammates who are afraid to push into the base so get taken out by the DD early on, focus on killing the transports over the BBs and of course get to the exit don't trust teammates to remember to do it. Still I have been lucky in the teams I had this thus far most got the point of the mission and even we even kept the bot Commander Jenkins alive -
There is an art to criticising teammates ie " CV I suggest you move as the enemy DD is hunting you" or "could a DD please spot the cap I will provide fire support" you make your criticism they might even listen but you also highlight their idiocy to the rest of the team. Swearing is just too lazy for me, and I never got the need to make it a racial thing the number of angry players who I kill who go onto say im both Black and Jewish is rather odd but maybe that's a cultural thing.

I really like this map there is cover but not excessive amounts so you have room to move around freely, Visually I also like the freezing fog its very pretty

I like that in the Armoury there is some actual choice this time around on what to spend tokens on, I hope you guys keep this choice on the life server. I couldn't quite figure out what the value of the premium bundles was Im assuming its for when getting Admiral Cunningham for those people who cannot do all the grinding so they can buy extra tokens to make up the shortfall which is fair enough

So how are u s(u)pposed to play the
lovelacebeer replied to Ronchabale's topic in General Discussion
I am really enjoying the Thunderer I play her in a hit and run style, pushing forwards with the cruisers relying on her very accurate guns (by Battleship standards) to do as much damage to the enemy cruisers before kiting away whilst healing up and focusing on any ship pursuing me. The Thunderer burns easily and it doesn't have the Conqueror's crazy heal so it doesn't like soaking up huge amounts of damage so bow taking isn't really recommend, it's perfect for kiting though. In my experience at least, you want to keep moving and as long as you stay well angled you can withstand a surprising amount of return fire. Considering the fact she has accurate guns and a decent reload speed well aimed shots are suitably rewarded, broadside battleships and cruisers will get paddled. The HE is also very effective for dealing with bow tanking enemy's, and whilst she's not really designed for dealing with DDs you can certainly punish them if they get spotted. Don't be afraid to switch ammo types! Its for these reasons I would say she's a hit and run ship you have good speed and good guns but you don't want to brawl, you will want to control the engagement to be on your terms to get the best out of her. -
cv vs dd balance - is this being looked at at all?
lovelacebeer replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Sad to say I'm not in the least bit surprised that WG consider CVs to be fine, I certainly disagree with their assessment but they don't want to admit there is work still to be done. -
The totally real and legit backstory behind Bajie and Wukong
lovelacebeer replied to MutsuAraAra's topic in General Discussion
I have to admire the originality behind this, but 10/10 for the choice of original names and developing from their. -
Should be fun taking out my ARP ships and seeing if people think I'm a whale and hopefully underestimate me. Still its nice to get some free port slots and some extra credits just for playing and I'm happy for the newer players to get a chance to have these ships
