Torpedo Acceleration Skill For Torps With 10km+ Range?
lovelacebeer replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
I use torp acceleration on my Japanese DDs and with my Shima I have it with the type 93 mod 3 torps taking their range to about 9.6km instead of their original 12km. Like you I prefer having my Japanese torps get on target ASAP considering how easily detected they are. You do take a slight risk in high tier games getting within 10km of opponents in part due to radar and the general speed of ships. Still I find the risk acceptable, you should usually know where the enemy radar ships are and can pick when it's safe to close within their radar range drop off some torps and get out before their radar has returned from cool down. Only the most crazy/ confident thrill seekers use the " Bakakaze" Set up (F3s with torp acceleration) not something usually I would recommend but can be funny when it works. I dont use use torp acceleration on my British DDs though the torp range of the Daring is only 10km and she's not as stealthy as a Shimakaze so I prefer to have the extra range. -
Sadly not surprising there are a lot of players who can only read or use chat after they are dead. As for suffering team damage it is what it is I get very anxious when I have friendly crusiers about 4-5 km behind me because it's depressingly common they launch torps through you. All you can do is keep your eyes open and try to warn teammates in chat if you can see they are going to eat torps or run around an island into a waiting DD etc

I wanted to ask how do other people deal with North/ Northern Lights when you spawn on lines 7-10. Mostly focused on Battleship and Cruiser play styles, with a emphasis on when the enemy are being defensive. When I play DD I'm pretty happy I can contest the cap at C (if domination mode) or I can block an enemy push or work around the flanks to dislodge any camping opponents. However I always find it harder when playing a cruiser or battleship. I often find it all too easy for battleships to be drawn in the 9/10 line where as we all know their effectiveness is limited so I'm reluctant to push there unless the BBs on my team are at least reasonably fast, eg I think we all know the experience of watching by a Colorado slowly painfully plodding around on the outside. I'm not wanting to turn this into just another criticise bad teammates thread so I want to stick to how do you all approach this flank, especially assuming your not in a division and so you don't know what your teammates will do etc. Thank you all

North map tactics, suggestions & ideas
lovelacebeer replied to lovelacebeer's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, true its hard to give a definitive strategy as every battle is affected by the positioning of the enemy, I think patience is a virtue on this flank and not committing too soon. -
User Bonus Not Received For Winter PTS Season

I have not received either of the rewards for the winter season PTS however its not unusual for them to be several days late in coming. -
Team Kill penalty for leaving game early - after I was sunk
lovelacebeer replied to SteveTheSquid's topic in General Discussion
Yes sounds like a bug with the reporting system for people who leave battles early, it's starting to look like this might be a fun update playing hunt the bugs -
I prefer Priority target especially in fragile ships because I'm always expecting someone to be shooting me I just want to be aware of how many people I need to watch out for

So...when do you compliment or report players?
lovelacebeer replied to blindhai's topic in General Discussion
Actually one thing I like is the habit Forumites have of acknowledging each other in random battles usually saying hello and swapping a compliment. It's a bit like as a motorcyclist then you nod to fellow bikers as you pass. Sadly it's also probably a reason karma is never going to give any actual reward but as a convention I like it. Admittedly im actually really bad with names so I usually don't recognise forumites first but always reply in chat when you gentlemen say hi. -
FYI... 2020-03-13... on EU server there are already "Smaland" Tier X European DDs...
lovelacebeer replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I'm not in the least bit surprised that some people have them, here will always be collectors or people who want a new ship no matter the cost. Still if they have the free XP to burn that's up to them, at least unlike with the PR event WG have not given the impression this was an easy ship for everyone to get. -
‘Operation in progress’ when I try to reset captain skills
lovelacebeer replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Same problem here too, -
For me I cannot redistribute captain skills it just get stuck with "operation in progress". Edit; also my ships stay stuck in battle even after it has ended. I don't have any mod installed either so nothing my end should be causing this.

Detective Kléberot in Action! Murder in the Western Sea
lovelacebeer replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
It's a pity I should have enjoyed this video there were some good jokes in it but I'm just so cynical of WG these days when it comes to CV interaction plus ramming CVs into everything even clan battles all I could focus on was, can I trust WGs claim that these DDs have good AA and can these DDs survive without smoke. -
Addition of CVs to CB next season
lovelacebeer replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
I'm not surprised WG decided to allow CVs they have been pushing them very hard, it's just like the 2 million free XP for the Smaland it's all very easy to foresee. Still its a pity I found clan battles a lot of fun in part because it allowed for coordinated tactics and ambushes, however with CVs added it just detracts from the fun for me. -
So...when do you compliment or report players?
lovelacebeer replied to blindhai's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully that's an indication that those of us on the forum try not to hate the people who play the class. Also I wouldn't worry it works both ways, if I kill a CV when I'm playing DD I take it for granted said CV will report me for my impertinence. -
So...when do you compliment or report players?
lovelacebeer replied to blindhai's topic in General Discussion
Compliments I usually give for players who I can see have either done very well i.e. Over 2500 base xp or they clearly have tried to help the team such as smoking up light crusiers and then spotting for them. Also anyone who tries hard to work with me through chat or good teamwork. Reports I usually save for people who are rude ( racist language or swearing usually) or being deliberately bad such as taking a top tier BB and going to sulk in the far corner of the map or revealing team positions in open chat. Yolo rushing CVs who don't launch planes but just push forward to die. Also when I play DD and a fell DD player follows me around the map constantly usually firing wildly making sure I can't do anything productive. -

Well if they are sailing a Japanese ship just called them jagaimo, obvious before I get reported I am of course joking

Addition of CVs to CB next season
lovelacebeer replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Maybe not static but certainly less dynamic, teams cannot ambush or risk splitting off a flanking force. I expect to see a lot of lemming trains clustered together for safety -

And some men just just want to see the world burn, still credit to you for recruiting so many dedicated CV players to your clan very far sited of you. -

lovelacebeer replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Oh joy can only imagine how un fun such a season of CB will be, so not only are clans that lack good CV players going to struggle but any effort at surprise or tactics is basically out the window.
