Honestly I'm just waiting for when subs are shoved into random battles no doubt with major issues still and sub players start complaining they get reported a lot and don't know why. As for making CVs a fun class to play and play against isn't that one of the signs of the apocalypse, considering WGs level of effort on the matter it must be.
-
I'm just going to see how far I get on the grind just through casual play, if I happen to grind the 18 stages then I will probably finish her off for gold but I'm really not that fussed if I don't get her and won't be making any special effort on grinding.

Hamburg Dockyard: Directives Deadline Approaching!
lovelacebeer replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
At least to WGs credit they did learn something from the PR mess and have done a better job of communicating this time around. As for the event itself I think I will just play as normal and see how it goes but I am not going to make any special effort for this event the whole subs situation is wonderfully demotivating for me. -
The way the game is going with the urgency to keep adding new 'dynamic' content especially at higher tiers it really wouldn't shock me, as apparently adding diversity in ship content is a lower priority. If nothing else even if WG come out and categorically say no they won't add such content all they really mean is not at this time.

submarines SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Very good idea proper rewards are a great motivation if they seriously want us to play other classes in subs mode, but I love the way put it, your right though. -
I think you might have gotten a little mixed up, he was replying to someone who liked the inclusion of CVs in clan battles.

Put CVs in a separate game mode
lovelacebeer replied to VeteranGamer84's topic in General Discussion
I certainly wouldn't miss CVs, games without them are a lot more fun but sadly it's not going to happen it's just a pipe dream. -
It certainly has been the most boring and tedious clan battle season in my experience, a lot of the more regular participants in CW in my clan just didn't want to take part except if it was to round out the numbers to help the newer players. Every battle was the same and so repetitive with the line ups it completely killed my enthusiasm. The only real challenge was when either we had a language communication issue or if a teammate insisted on bringing a particular ship outside of the prescribed list and then it nearly always resulted in a loss.

It does sound a good deal but yeh no way would I risk selling mine and trust WG not to have used the wrong phrasing or what ever I'm not that desperate for silver

Random Token Yield - Anyone else Sick of it?
lovelacebeer replied to hopfolk's topic in General Discussion
It's certainly the way the industry is going and WG are steadily getting less generous with the token drop chances. Sad thing is it clearly works as a business model so it's not going away anytime soon. Luckily for me I'm a miserable old devil so it just puts me off and I care less about getting what ever product is being offered. No point putting the effort in from my perspective. -
Hey WG - Sub testing with teams of 8 bots and 4 humans per side is a waste of everyones time!
lovelacebeer replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
If I had any tier 6 ships to grind it would be tempting to do so in the subs mode but seeing as I don't I would need a better incentive such as coal or some other resource to want to play surface ships in subs mode. -
I got reasonable results in her by either using her for hit and run attacks on caps, the fast torps are great flushing enemy DDs out of smoke and the heal does help so you pull back heal up and go in again. Alternatively if the enemy are pushing one flank hard she's quite good at kiting away torp spamming it takes time but slowly the torps do grind them down. That being said I never enjoyed the Skane it was frustrating to play.

submarines SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions
lovelacebeer replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
Sure thing it was the submarine K 21 which was featured in a WOWS legends video but the best summary is on Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_submarine_K-21 I remember reading more in one of my books but I cannot remember which one so if I can find the relevant book I will scan the chapters. -

This video does a very good breakdown of everything wrong with American torpedo development and why they were so bad early on in the war. As for destroyer gameplay I think you will find it a lot more fun and challenging if you take more risks, however reports always come your way as a DD they are pretty much guranteed if you get a kraken or more kills it's just the nature of the beast. -

lovelacebeer replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Honestly I think they are just testing proof of concept and the basic mechanics rather than actually anything about strategy and or balancing, so it is very early days. This way it's far easier to declare subs a success and charge ahead at full speed. -

Several points; I did not accuse you of hating DDs I stated quite clearly you disliked DD gameplay (something you do say, I believe the term you usually use is boring), I would never throw out such accusations, whilst I may deeply disagree with a lot of what you say I would never be so rude as make up such wild accusations. As for the engagement of submarines in the Second World War actually the allies mostly used subs to hunt merchant ships as well, the Royal Navy for example had a very busy time intercepting axis supply convoys to North Africa. There are instances of course of Royal Navy subs killing warships such as HMS Tally-Ho killing the Kuma but they are the minority of instances. The US navy is more complex as they did attack both Japanese merchant shipping and warships although with mixed results but that was due to the disturbingly high failure rate of their torpedos (a very interesting story I would recommend reading about if you like history). However in part it was helped by the near total lack of effort from the Japanese to develop anti submarine warfare. The Soviet navy also focused on ore transports, although the Russians claim they attempted an attack on the Tirpitz however the Tirpitz didn't notice it was under attack so the event is contested. The Soviet navy did have some very notiable kills on German refugee ships such as the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff. As for a submerged submarine killing another submerged submarine you should be aware that only happened once when HMS Venturer killed U-864, otherwise it was only when a sub ambushed another on the surface. I do admire both your amazing trust in WG to develop subs in a fair and balanced way I have no idea how you can be so optimistic but I admire it. As for your belief they will create more PvE content sadly WG staff have been very clear they are not interested in giving us operations Halloween or April fools events are by their very nature a short term event that's all. -

Seeing as most of what you said here is your suggestions to WG for how they should conduct further testing and I am not an employee of WG I'm not sure why you bothered giving me these ideas, but to a certain extent some of them are fairly good so I hope you do forward them onto WG. We all know there is a lot of further testing required and it's why I have not been referencing the 6 metre exploit etc. However to the the relevant points yes submarine history is fascinating and in a proper submarine game a lot of fun carefully lining up the attack. The problem is as you correctly point out submarines in both world wars were mostly used against merchant shipping with a few notable exceptions however WOWS doesn't have merchant shipping. Also seeing as WG has no interest in operations we are not going to get convoy hunting/ protecting game modes. Another very important part of navel combat covered in the time people WOWS is based on is the mine layer they add a huge dynamic to the period in question and accounted for more than a few warships so submarines are not the last step or necessarily the next logical step in adding content if your after further historical accuracy. Submarines are clearly going into random battles which I fully concede will happen, but it will be to the detriment of the game. Simply because of how the game works and how people play, it will reward passive gameplay where people stay back away from the objectives. Having read many of your previous posts it's obvious you really want subs and clearly dislike DD gameplay so I understand why adding subs suits your agenda. However I have yet to read a single compelling argument from anyone here as to how submarines will improve the experience of playing WOWS. -

I’m still really not seeing the appeal of subs, yes they are quite easy and you can get impressive damage scores. However nothing I have seen of subs gives me any confidence regarding their addition to random or competitive battles. Not that it matters WG will shove them in anyway they didn’t spend all this money not too, just will make battles way more passive and dull. -
This has been a more challenging CB season for us a lot of the regular CB players got bored (myself included) of playing this season. So we largely took turns when needed too to help the more junior members practice. Still its been interesting how often I have heard people say they would play if they had too because we needed the numbers but not a lot of us wanted to play this season.

Thank you I will have to take him out for a spin

Has anyone actually tried him out yet, is he especially good or best focused on a certain build? I got him at the weekend but not been in the mood for playing the European DDs lately.

Just checking have you gentlemen been collecting the tokens in the articles already in which case maybe it's a reminder for those who have been late to the party. Only reason I ask is I have been checking all the articles and collecting my tokens so no surprise the offer has expired for me, but as the end date is the 5th maybe it's just a reminder for people who have not been checking the articles to collect their tokens now before they are gone.

PSA: Shikishima for 32.000 Steel

Yeh doesn't seem worth it, the CCs I have seen playing her and the chances I got to play against them tell me this ship has nothing to offer me, Easy pass.
