And the flint is only available as a prize/gift to certain players, so it's not a widely available ship. It still has acess to torpedos and better AA. Buffing the atlanta is onething but handing it smoke is another. And as pointed out it's still doing better than most T7 cruisers.
-
So what you're saying is you essentially want a Belfast.... with torpedos.
-
The standard gitgud line. While some players do need to adapt, howsever ome of the early cruisers are so dire, that no amount of git gud saves them. T1 and 2 are fine, T3 against its own tier is ok but struggles on the up tier a bit. The Danae I thought was dreadful as you start to encounter more BBs and you just get deleted, and the Emerald suffers by far the most since the mm is not kind to it at all. These ships are severely off putting from the line which is not healthy to have early ships in such a crippled position as it deters others from the line. But all is forgiven at the Leander ironically, as on paper it looked like one of the worst cruisers at T6 which most predicted it would be worst in line. Luckily it turned to be a complete gem. And I cant understand some people suggesting it be a T5 (probably wanting the Emerald to never return). What should be done is probably make some munor tweaks to the Caledon, a set of moderate tweaks to the Danae and probably some heavy changes to the Emerald as its so blindingly obvious that it is a massive problem ship.

Ok, I think the Leander might be a good ship....

A random thought - RN AP and demolition expert
Blitzkrieguk replied to Spicer_Simson's topic in Cruisers
DE only affects main batteries. Secondaries are not effected. -
Next unique aspect which will add interesting and engaging mechanics. WG are pleased to announce that britain will be the first ships in the games without guns. They are excited and so should you!

Someone has never used the Centurion 9 with the 20 pdr. The DPM you can put out with that is absolutely disgusting. Secondly, the "replacement" of the FV4202 is significantly inferior, due to the higher profile, worse upper plate and inferior power to weight ratio. The only thing it does have is a higher top speed, that is it. If they'd have given that speed to the FV4202 it would be massively superior to the "replacement" we have now. The same goes with the Black Prince, Caernarvon, Conqueror and FV215b. If you stick those in the right situations they are power houses. Unlike the majority of people, I liked a good section of the British tanks, they were decent, just not really designated CW tanks (that said I did use the FV215b on certain maps in my clan, and I think the FV4202 only came out in desperation when we needed a sniping medium but my Leo was knocked out.) Also, I absolutely hated the "good" ones aka the Cromwell and Comet, couldn't get on with them. Centurions on the other hand, absolutely stunning machines if used correctly.

Split Topic: Gameplay > Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?
Blitzkrieguk replied to Blitzkrieguk's topic in Archive
Yeah shows exactly you don't know how to use the Cent. Fully kitted out was close to 3000 dpm with the 20 pdr. The damage was monster and you could crush targets if you knew what you were doing. That is why you use it over the 105. Secondly, the acceleration on the AX is inferior along with worse hill climbing ability since the pwr has gone from about 20.6 to 15ish. The tertain passability on the 4202 was insane to make up for its low top speed. Gun handling they are the same so no clue where you got that. And heat matters not on the AX because you can punch through with standard rounds. Since the AX isnt competative youd only use it as a sniper which youd use the leo over it and i can tell you from cw experiance in that role i barely had to use heat as i was constantly shooting sides. The 4202 was superior due to reasons stated beforehand. The Cents are excellent, in the right hands like a lot of the british tanks. Like these ships. In the right hands and situations they are damn right potant. I've seen some monster Belfast and general British ship play that i am struggling but wanting to achieve. Currently there are only 2 opinions circling which is 100% salty doom and gloom and every thing is bad bwcause muh Bussian Rias or Belfast is super OP and its the end of the world which those people also hoping you don't remember the Sharnhorst exisits -
Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?
Blitzkrieguk replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
Tbh I found the way WG treated British equipment was to make them quite specialised. In their optimum scenarios, and played to their strength they are very potant to even boarderline OP. But, removed from that scenario they perform from mediocre to poorly. Good example is the Centurion. In a hulled down position in an area where it can lay its dpm down, it's a terrifyingly dangerous machine. You remove it from there and it goes down quickly. And it doesn't surprise me they've done the same here. Optimum position very dangerous and potant, removed from that scenario, you're either dead or useless to the engagement. -
The only other useful one especially on later ships would be the AA mod
-
Most of the builds are similar apart from the Belfast and Minotaur. Essentially i'd go with BoS EM SI AFT CE Thats what id roll on most. For the Belfast id drop AFT for DE For the Minotaur, i'd drop EM for either Torp exp, incoming fire or last stand. The other skill to be considered instead of AFT would be manual fire control for AA due to your range of AA out ranges your spot range of planes so an increase of DPS might be superior. But this is a personal preferance.

So far only played 1 to 4. So far I do think there is a bit too much doom and gloom cast upon them. However the opinion of meh is closer to the mark. While they as so fragile i do think maybe with time and getting use to them wont be as much of an issue. I had some great games in the Caledon with a 46k 55k and 56k set of games using the torpedos which have a great range for their teir. The manueverability on these ships are overwhelmingly hilarious. So a massive plus for me. On a personal level the major drawback for me is the shell arc. I find that the killer aspect, and in my opinion they need flatter arcs. I reckon with flatter arcs they would be more enjoyable and probably solve a few issues, maybe tweaking the velocity wouldn't hurt either. With tweaks to those two aspecs they could be really decent in my opinion.

Unless it's the moskva since it gets both.

AP and HE shells replaced by meatballs and spaghetti.

After the Phoebe since my grandfather served on it from 42 after the worcester.
-
Give the Phoebe instead! Either way we need a Dido class.

The Chappy and the Zao have access to Torpedoes, which is probably why they do not have smoke, which the Belfast doesnt have access to.

Erm no. The Gneisenaus guns are smaller than its rivals of other nations. Nagato with 410 and Colorado with 406.

New Mexico vs Bayern, Colorado vs Gneisenau
Blitzkrieguk replied to KraKonFOUR's topic in Battleships
While it has a 200m shorter turning circle, the Sharnhorst using MLG rudder mod is in the 12 second category as well. So i wouldn't put old jerry down on the manuverability either. However I still wouldn't recommend brawling them unless you definitely have the upper hand. -
New Mexico vs Bayern, Colorado vs Gneisenau
Blitzkrieguk replied to KraKonFOUR's topic in Battleships
Not sure if you guys have noticed but above the belt armour on the Gneis and Sharn it's only 25mm. Up to 14 km I was consistantly punching AP through it in a Buddy. It's normally where I am on them in my Nagato and you can lay down massive alphas on them. That said I just got the Sharnhorst on saturday. It's by far the strongest ship I own and a complete beast. Has some utterly disgusting capabilities and the number of Colorados and New Mexicos who tried to brawl me was staggering and the pretty much all failed against the Sharnhorst. So if you are in a US BB brawling against KM BBs isnt the wisest of choices. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Blitzkrieguk replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Saw Hanzeehock on the weekend. I waved but was ignored -
No, it's default speed is 32.5, Flamu was obviously using the signal flag Sierra Mike for increased top speed.

The Manly Mans Manly BB Game Play Thread
Blitzkrieguk replied to Spuggy's topic in General Discussion
A far more manly result for me. Just as i'm about to go down and at 2k hp, I ram the Fuso killing him while dropping torpedo's doing almost 49k damage to a Colorado.- 315 replies
