This thread is refreshing to see on the forum. However i'd hold back from the RN cruisers. They are not an easy line, excellent in decent players hands but get punished immensely if you make a mistake and players who aren't as skilled will get trashed in them. You would also have have difficulties hitting your target as the shell velocities are pretty low and the arcs go to the moon and back. Infact I think the shells from my Minotaur are still in flight from last weekend.

I think you missed part of my point. I'll use a game called Dota as an example. You have 2 Heroes, both are OP. However the first hero has essentially only 2 abilities to click but 1 of those you'll use like 10% of the time rest you won't. So essentially you're mainly using 1 ability. He's easy to play can bully the enemy team hard and if left unchecked can rampage across your face but mainly from the mid to late game with some farm. This is the Scharnhorst. Picked up by all and easy to do well in a pretty disgusting hero. The other one is also OP but the skill cap is through the roof as you have about 11 abilities compared to the 1/2. A mediocre player will do sufficently with him but barely touch half the abilities. Like this the other hero will walk across his face. However you put him in the hands of a really skilled player and this hero is out of control OP and devistate anything. However Hero B is not seen as OP as Hero A because it requires more skill to play even though its potential in ability can crush all those before him superior in the hands of an excellent player. However Hero A is picked more simply because its so easy to play that any one can do it actually makes it more overpowered. That is the Scharnhorst. In most computer games charcters/heroes/classes/vehicles that are about utility or are glass cannons are always difficult to balance due to the inate nature of their skill cap. And I see it here in warships. RN cruisers are a great example. Used correctly they are insane but you get massively punished for mistakes. And infact the Belfast is isanely punishing as it doesn't have a heal. Compared to the Scharnhorst which just keks along. Sure both are op, except one is SUPER op in a certain game mode and certain scenarios. The other is just OP 95% of the time.

To be honest for ship vs ship the Fiji is actually better. But for ranked the Belfast has it pegged. As an overall set of premiums the Scharnhorst is far more OP as any random spud can jump in and just windmill things to death. But the Belfast has a higher skill ceiling which when in the hands of decent to excellent players will just overshadows the Scharnhorst.

At the rate people are down tiering it in this thread it soon will be!

Didn't realise the KGV was a PT boat!
-
Because we'd have a flood of tears from german fanbois.
-
While i'd be fine with that. If i had to make an educated obvious guess. The immediate T7 premium they'll slap down upon release would be the Hood.
-
They will be like any non KM secondaries, meaning mediocre to useless.
-
Not saying the KGV would be. But at the same time i'm also saying it could be ok at T8. Kind of thing i'd need to see in game to make a solid judgement. But the guns are a bit limp for T8 but I hold my judgement for now. My point is we all know this is an arcade game and this is most likely to happen. And we know WG won't hold off the Nelson class. Id personally prefer the Rodney due to its historical significance but there we go. But that will go straight in because it is quite anticipated and a unique design that actually existed. But this is what WG will do.
-
Jesus are you people still going on about this for 55 pages? Here's the sheer reality. The KVG will most likely sit a T8. It makes sense since WG will pick the Nelson for T7. And no they will probably not hold off to put it into another seperate line as that class of ship is quite iconic. Now, either they will buff its penetration to make it fit. Or they will pull a Scharnhorst/Gneisenhau and make the KGV a premium and either the Prince of Wales or Duke of York into the main line with the 15" guns. I doubt they'd strip the 14" guns off the KGV since it is famous for being part of clubbing the Bismarck to death with those guns.

I think BB players need help.

What sterling poll to such a sterling thread. I give top marks 5/7.

Are american ships better than others?
Blitzkrieguk replied to Legend1466's topic in General Discussion
Most of them are mediocre. The BB's have been made obsolete by the KM. The Iowa is not the best T9 BB. It would be the Missouri due to its radar ability. The US cruisers are ok. But the grind up to the DM is painful (have to see in the new patch). But the Cruisers are just ok. The US DD's on the other hand are decent and very well balanced between their torpedo and gun capabilitites. -
You can if they are turning

It's the Emerald. It's the embodiment of every disease on the planet in ship form.

To be honest. Neither. CV's are rare so in my opinion kind of a waste of points. However you would want AFT on the Neptune and Manual AA on the Minotaur. Reason; the Neptune has the highest AA of any ship in the game (not including defensive AA consumable). However its AA range is lackluster and needs as much range increasing as possible. The Minotaur while sporting lower overall AA dps its long range DPS is by far the best in the game. Now while AFT isn't a complete waste on the Minotaur, the issue is with the AA ship upgrade as you don't need the aiming modification, the range is so high that if you are the person spotting planes you actually won't see them untill 6 to 7 km which is already in your range. Where if you extend it to 8km+ your extra range and essentially dps are lost. Where if you have manual AA as soon as they are spotted your 6 inch guns are doing double dps. The only way AFT would have more value is if some one was spotting the planes for you.

I'd say the Fiji is superior. It's the ability to make the aggressive attacks with torpedos and having a heal giving it lasting sustainability in combat that makes her superior in my opinion.

Sounds like someone died to a Belfast.
