Ok, bear in mind I am a strictly average, casual player. I found the Hood very forgiving, good arcs, great speed but only in a direct line. She is nowhere near as good as Warspite for turning. Hood can take damage and still go and is very good for getting into and out of position. Up close, she is only good if the enemy are a little behind you due to the secondary arcs and I would not rely on them in the same way i would with Warspite. Keep the enemy at around 15km away and she seems pretty effective. If the team is good, you can work her around a flank and hunt cruisers but she will eat torps.

Monty had many flaws, however he did care about his men. Only general at Dunkirk to get his entire command out intact. He put in place training and supply exhelons that kept his lads fit and healthy, also believed in communicating decisions down the chain. The [edited]ups of 1944 where created by poltical pressire for results and the Normandy meatgeinder was to keep Germans from countering the American break out. British could take that kind of fight, yanks where not willing to fight a defensive or holding action

I'm no fanboy, Monty took what Auchinleck and Alexander had already created and took the credit. Now the best British general of WW2 was Jock Campbell had he lived to take command of 8th army, now there is an interesting what if. Alexander was a much better general than Monty aswell, he had a great working relationship with the yanks.

I feel the same way, I like ack-of-all-trades ships, looks good so far.

She-who-must-be-obeyed has signed off on this so, despite my initial reaction, will be buying the big bundle. I don't actualy care about the Hood, which is the ironic part, I'm buying it for the flags and captain.

The way I see this bundle is not as a stand alone Hood thing. I'm looking at it from a Teaboy perspective. WG confirmed they will be expanding the British tech tree, this whole bundle is a perfect opportunity to expand and develop captains for that tech tree down the line.

I don't want to commit too heavily at this point till i find out if the DD or BB full line is next. I'll be getting the gallant either way but will invest heavily in getting to the Minotaur and might save the flags if i have any left after my 14 pointer gets leveled to 19

Hood kept the special AP flavour, not sure it would be worth it for DDs. The CL one torp at a time thing could be a bit OP with 8 torps on a DD (two of our DD classes had 10 torps)
