Just sidenote on comparing torps - you only focus on reaction time which is only one part of problem. The biggest issue is not reaction on spoted torps - all in all you are not sending one, but usually 8+ so if torpwall appears at BB's side it has problem anyway. What is much bigger issue (at least for me) is that target must stay on course. Faster torps reach target sooner, and target has less time to change speed or course. So when saying Fletcher is better torp boat, try to do match about it - how many seconds does it take to reach target for Fletcher torps from safe distance and how many second does it take for F3 torps from 8km. My point is that having better concealement on torps doesnt make you better torpboat.

And I would recommend to find ATSF/Yuro on Youtube Speaking of credits they are all very good afaik. As said Scharn is most user - friendly. Scharn will earn credits even when going yolo. Speaking of fun, Belf and Scharn are close to sealclub when toptier. Belfast still can be deleted by any well placed BB salvo. Scharn is fun even when going yolo. Speaking of power Scharn has probably highest impact on game result. In generall BBs are main damage dealers now, they both tank and carry. Scharn is best performing T7 BB. So being you I'd choose Scharn. Guns are sometimes bad, but she earns tons of xp and credits while having great fun. I did buy it and never regret. I've seen only one unsatisfied player of Sharn so far.

Very valuable intel to me. Both. I actually used IFA on Atago and it worked well to me. PT is another information which can save you butt. I honestly plan to pick both. PT gives me general info about how focused I am, IFA gives me immediate warning to change course. Decent skipper can use both. As Negativvv said, if you can make use of this, your surviability will increase. Only thing which piss me of is bad aim. Quite often happens that IFA warns me and I slow down and break hard...just to find enemy was not leading enough so I got hit by few hits...

It has actually nothing to with velocity. Turtleback is just armoured plate at autobounce angle. All you have to do is basically disable its autobounce ability - either change angle of impact or bypass it by overmatch. I thing thats what you meant, but being nitpicker I just want to correct it - Minotaur technically has power, to citadel it, but cannot bypass autobounce angle of Hippers turtleback. Same goes for BBs.

S.Dragon go for total AA build or .. ?
Dropman12 replied to Smileymeerkat's topic in General Discussion
Honestly AA build is not worth it. You can have defensive AA, which is fine, but if some CV of T7+ decide to kill you, you are done anyway. Cleveland and few others cruisers can be build into AA fortress, but its not the case of Myoko. Its better to use standart build and exploit natural power of IJN cruisers - stealth and great HE performance (aka going for Demolition expert and Concealement expert is must, Priority target and Expert marskman is very recommanded, rest is about personal taste). -
Baltimore Buffs? - Be Careful What You Ask For [179k damage]
Dropman12 replied to Pupu_prpr's topic in Cruisers
El2aZeR: So long story short: What we call plunging fire is not plunging fire. Its just visual efect, where you see vertical move of your shells but not horizontal, thus it looks like plunging fire. Long range penetrations do not come from deck penetrating but belt/superstructure penetration. German BB get citadel hit not because of deck penetration but simply because of belt penetration under such angle where turtleback armour does not autobounce. Yet there is no real impact on gameplay, right? Right?- 35 replies

Unlike WoT you cannot dismount consumables. If ship has slot for consumable there always must be something. Always. That being said every consumable have two versions - one is basic, and is for free. Second is better (same efect but shorter cooldown and number of charges) but aslo cost 22 500k/25 gold. So having basic version of hyrdo doesnt cost you anything, there is no reason to dismount it. Plus hydro is great tool, you will find it out soon

I dont think so. People often overlook some important aspects. First of all you have to get close to DD. Atleast for me DD hunt means active search and destroy play. Not just shoting spoted DDs. Which means ships like Moskva can use radar and guns, but I can imagine how you want to surprise DD with 18km base detection. Which means you need good camo. Not even to close in but also to survive return fire from enemy team. Second you need speed. DD captain with brain will not try to fight, but turn Engine boost on and disengage. The higher speed the better. Third you need some dirty trick. You dont want to run into torpwall. You need to eliminate their smoke. So you need either radar or hydro. One can allow you to engage DD at unexpected range, second made you invulnerable to torps. Radar is safer, hydro is high risk-high reward. The gunnery itself is not that important. DD simply cannot win firefight if you get into good position. Dont overrate radar. If you have one it doesnt make you ultimate DD hunter. Its great, but you need camo to get close and actually suprise DD. And radar cruisers dont have usually great camo. So all in all best DD hunter is IJN cruiser to me. Great cammo, great speed, comfortable gunnery, hydro. HE with punch. Ability to disengage when things go wrong. RN are fine as well but they are painfully slow to me. With smoke they have great plan B. RU have godlike firepower but they dont like being close, its usually suicide. Same for GE or US.
-
No, you are not If you have RU line behind you, you are spoiled by awesome RU gunnery. Yorck looks good on paper, and its not bad ship, but you will suffer - shell velocity and arc are far from enjoyable unlike Schors for example. But to be fair - Hipper is worth it.

Hi, little problem here - Im really temted into buying T7 prem DD. It looks like there are only 2 real options - Blys and Lenindrad. I'm not newbie with DDs, but I play mainly IJN. What Im sick of is that they are so straightforward - if enemy sail in straingt lines, I torp them easily. If they have brain and know WASD hack or Im forced to fight with guns, Im screwed. So Im looking for something versatile. As I read some reviews and saw some videos, there are two aspects I still dont know: 1) Which ship is more fun to use? Premiums are to be played a lot, so fun is usually the most important aspect of them. From my experience mobility is huge for having fun and Len seems to be one of the fastest ships in game. On the other side, its guns have some flaws unlike Blyska. Also Blyska is much more captain-friendly, not in need of specific captain skills. Which one is more fun to play? 2) Which of them is better when facing T8 DDs? T8 DDs have simply better concealement, so you are basically in huge disadvantage. But as I said as IJN skipper I dont much care as i run away from almost every DD tier regardless. I always thought its huge problem, but saw good point from some skilled player - some ships can switch from stealth mode into CL mode, using guns and speed. Which looks like fair point (again, never tested it thus asking). Is there any difference between them when facing T8+ DDs? TL;DR: If you have both in dock, which one would you pick for fun/relax game?
-
Yeah, I know. But if we talk about game, its wrong. In theory you want every clas to be equal to each other, so only skill matters (more or less). When I recall last ranked season I dont think I ever won game where our carrier was destroyed soon. And that comparison - point was that CV can more or less compare to anything. Not saying its better in it than specialist, but it can. Especially in game that was designed as paper-rock-scissors (which Im not sure if ever worked) its weird at least. Stat wise im not sure which stat should be indicating it. Lets look at arty in WOT - its also technically inferior in dmg to other tanks stats-wise.
-
yes, if you talk about role of the ship. But role of ship and its influence are not same. From your statement it looks like DD can scout; CV can scout=they are equal scouts. Which is simply not true, right? DD can scout at one place while in CV can scout all caps at once. Yep, BB is dmg dealer, but it can engage only what it hits, while CV can engage any target. CV can also be support as CA, clearing skies. CA can counter planes? I dont htink so. It can cover some area, deny ii, which is imno not countering. but you can directly counter anothe CV in your CV. If CV If you decide to spot all torps coming to important to cap - than you are able to. And thats it - the amount of options it have and its ability to switch from one role to another is unmatched by others. Im not ranting, but still think its design flaw.
-
I dont think so. You are talking about overall power of CV, Im about their influence. And about influence when uptiered compared to other uptiered ship. Its fine what you wrote, finaly something constructive. But how is it related to my point? My point was clearly that CV has so many options to influence the game that no other ship can compare. You dont need to even atack enemy to help team. All in all why are CV so restricted if they are just fine as other clases. Its fine when you have one more DD, it should be fine to have one less CV, right? Im not going to argue about each point as I think they are related to overal CV power.
-
Well maybe time to get of your horse. So far only I can see from you is being personal. Did I say i dont change my opinion? No, i have no problem with that. But that must be based on some arguments. Which you fail to bring. One of my point was DD hunt. All you said they have smoke and some of them DF. DF last how long? 20 sec? 30? It prevents you to hunt them in 20 min battle? Same goes for smoke...do really all enemy team stick together? Really no alone ship? I dont remember last time all team went together. What you clearly miss is I wasnt talking about any specific tier but about CV ability to afect battle in compare to ohter class when uptiered, not about overall CV power. Any uptier ship has problems.
-
Opinion is invalid? Wow...opinion is always valid. You will have to live with that. Speaking of rules, everybody can writte here. If you dont value their opinion, its your problem. This is exactly reason why I turned stats invisible, to prevent "i have better stats im right" arguments. You think you are right? Prove it.
-
I know you did. You also told me much more...but being personal simply didnt make me to change my opinion. Thats first. The second - I didnt said I have no experience with high tier games. I said I have no experience with playing high tier CVs. The third - still cant see why are my points invalid.
-
One would think discusion forum is about discusing, not atacking everyone who have different opinion. Correct me if Im wrong, no need to act like spoiled kid. If you are that much better player, that should be no problem, right? P.S: Hight tier smokes stops torps? Good to know, at low tier you can actually hit ship in smoke. T skil? Is it some kind of permanent planes imunity?
-
Well sure if NC let me close in, gives me a broadside and ignore me than I can punish him. Very common situation. For purpose of constructive debate - I dont have experience with high tier CV and even on low tiers Im pretty bad with them. So feel free to corect me. But selfish? I dont think so. My point is pretty clear. Every ship do have some role, some influence. Low tier must change its gameplay. Why this shouldnt go for CV? As I said, if you have NM - how can you influence T8 battle? You cant pick your fight, its enemy who dictate terms of combat. All you have to do is wait till someone make mistake while sitting in second line and support. CV? First its not true that you loose half your strike force with attack at any ship, right? There is always some T6 ship and there are some ships with bad AA. Do you lose half of planes when atacking Atago? Unless he has active DF I guess no. There are some good AA ships, but since when you are forced to atack them? You have the luxury of chosing when and how to engage enemy..and which one. Plus regardless of tier you can negate DD. Spot him on cap and he is usually done, you helped team a lot. And thats it - point is that CV has much hihger impact to game than others. Which is OP's point, in perfect game every ship/class should be equal to each other.
-
Which is where point of op is. Why should have T6 CV in T8 game good times? Every other ship struggles when fighting T8. My New mexico also have no chance against prepared NC, same as your T6 carrier againt T8 BB. But while I cant chose fights, you can. You say it suicide to atack AA Gneis? So why you shoul do it? Even T6 CV can counter T8 DD just by spoting them. Given the fact enemy DD should be priority its kinda weird to hear CV is useless when uptiered. Even if you are forced to only focus on spoting enemy DDs you have higher impact on game that other uptiered clases.
-
One of us has actually problems with understanding OP. Cant see saying anything about DD or torps spoting. There actually is point, its just you are missing it, he is talking about influence not good player outplaying worse. if BB outplay another Bb it still can be erased by DD. If CV has free reign, he sudenly has huge impact on game. Higher than any other class. Thats the point.

Question to DD players: Are you "good little soldiers"?
Dropman12 replied to Deckeru_Maiku's topic in General Discussion
Which is not true. First I cannot simply folow you in slow BB. DD can and should flex - they can reposition and change their gameplan easily. Try to do it in Colorado. Second If team chose second side, ignoring them is not teamplay. Teamplay itself mean you put your own priorities aside. If you go left with DD, rest go right and you die - its your fault and lack of teamplay, not others. -
As english is not my native Im not sure If I or rest cannot understand OP. As I can read it, he talk about influence. No whining, but simply stating that CV has far more influence than any other ship. Which I agree with. The guy I was quoting was talking about whining, which is either total ignorace or cant read.
-
I didnt do math, but afaik HEAP is useless on 203 Mogami. You already can and will pen BB superstructure, and any pen do about 1/3=cca 1000 k DMG. So 10 pens with 203 on unsaturated superstructure will do about 10k dmg. That works without HEAP. Fire chance on the other hand is never high enough.
-
Did you even read his post? He made fair point unlike you.

Im leaning towards AR. Somehow I think EM was autopick not because of its power, but because other choices were useless. So AR on ships with managable rotation speed, aka GE BBs and cruisers.
