    OP mate, I'd say it's just you. I can citadel a Cleveland under 10K just fine & got a lucky angled shot into a Kongo's citadel at close range too (I think it fell between the turrets, complete luck, the other five hit him too & made dispiriting plinking noises as they pinged away). Aoba's guns are IMO best thing about it. Feels like she's received a buff or two since CBT.

    I played her in CBT & got mullered all the time, but I've just had my best cruiser game ever... I like her now, balanced ship (was a tier 8 battle, & my X2)... I upgraded her like Dimonios said, but with engine repair rather than steering 1.

    Quite. I think Humbug_1 has found the perfect partner to division with. Then they can race to the forum every single time they get killed to expound (with limited punctuation) on the game's various faults. It'd be great. It'd be like the Two Ronnies, but funny.

    I think it's just a slow process of evolution we're seeing here. The OP made a (now junked) thread whining that BB's were terribad & he was stopping playing them a week ago. Now, he has backtracked slightly from a position where he knew everything possible (but was still somehow a scrublord) to admitting he might not know quite everything but that everyone else is wrong. Who knows, by, say, the Space Year 3456, he might actually be able to play a battleship in a way that's not a complete liability for his team! PS: @OP: Watch these... Don't presume to argue about them, just watch & try to learn. PLEASE... You're welcome, but judging from the personality you've displayed thus far I fear my efforts are for nought.
  10. Other people--such as myself--have reported a rather lesser number of citadel hits than usual (but more damage 'cos more low-scoring hits) with patch 0.50. I don't think they've changed the Cleveland's guns mate, nothing I can see in patch notes for either .50 or .51--maybe you just had a good game? I nuked a Furutaka from full health in my Fuso last night (3 citadels & bye-bye), so I don't know what to say RE: your New Mexico guns. Bit of lag perhaps?

    I am too tired to look it up now, but there's been long & involved arguments on this forum which utterly destroy such an assertion, mate. Many pics were posted of DD's shot by high-calibre BB rounds that went right through & did not detonate, leaving a neat hole like something out of a cartoon.

    Just pointing out that this clearly explicates the problem with IJN DDs at high tiers: your "contribution" to the entire match is as a distraction or launching torps that you know aren't gonna hit for area denial purposes so that others can kill the opposition, & you are rewarded for this by getting sweet [edited]-all. It's even more boring & frustrating than AA-only cruiser play, frankly. Because it's basically a colossal waste of time. I can't believe anyone else really desires to spend fifteen minutes out of a twenty minute game achieving nothing then scrambling madly for five minutes to try to pick off any stragglers so you get enough credits to pay for your repairs & all those torps you launched to "make enemy BBs turn" but did not hit because of the 2000 squadrons of aircraft covering every square inch of the map & the twelve-second plus detection time of your fish. I've simply got better things to do, frankly. PS on-topic: Yes I've scored some heavy hits from my Fuso & Kongo on DDs, & been wiped out by mid-tier BBs in my Minekaze & Mutsuki. It's telling that the advice given above ("Don't close in, you need to use your range!") is exactly the opposite advice propagated for the pre-nerf Minekaze ("Don't use the long range torps, it's better to close in with the short range ones!"): I wonder what a Minekaze is supposed to do now, other than use it's safe 800m window to launch & then retreat undetected, which is basically the gameplay of long-range torps pre-nerf (which pros told us over & over it was foolish to do) but with only a tiny margin of operations.

    Severe Control Bug!

    I've had this zoom & gun lock issue, on & off, for about six weeks. I deleted my preferences XML file 'cos someone mentioned that it might help. I also bought a new keyboard, 'cos you could skin up with what I dug out from between the keys of mine. Neither helped. But both options were more useful than WG support's response of "We need a screenshot" (quite what a screenshot would show them is beyond me, I mean, a screenshot of me being unable to zoom in doesn't show me frantically hammering the keyboard & swearing & pressing SHIFT over & over & swearing & throwing things around my lounge & swearing, so I don't think it will quite convey all the effects).

    I would contend that this is the case. Just had my bestest game ever with my Kongo: 140K damage, 3 citadels. Which is a statistic that I'm unlikely to repeat, but it gives me pause. I preferred smashing great big holes in things, myself, but apparently the noobs must be mollified once again & it's "consistent damage curve" time. Which, of course, is just like Doom or something just like a battleship would actually produce, obviously...

    ^^ Hey man, no problem, I've actually been in a division with Onboard, watching him from my ship was an amazing experience, it's pretty awesome when you're with a great player & he's making his fecking BB dance man, I mean it's not just the damage he puts out or his accuracy it's the defence he shows against virtually everything. Very cool guy, too.

I'm not chiming in about the existence or otherwise of the thing scouseruk was drivelling about, but I've had many people accuse me of aim-assisting (new, OBT only players all) when I've citadelled them. & I've not got a fecking aimbot, I've just spent ages practising (& I'm still crap, in the grand scheme of things). But because it is beyond them to try to adapt to something, they scream that it's broken or that the only way to do well is to cheat. Learning to lead & to shoot is an immense part of the game & because people just completely flat-out refuse to do it properly (& I want to reiterate here, look around these forums, they don't, most going off half-cocked in these forums with their raaaaaaaaaage & whining & also in chat refuse to read a guide, don't like looking at the mechanics & can't be bothered to do anything to check out what they might have to do to do better, they want to point & click & that's it. Look at the amount of cretins we get starting "BB damage is too random! Nerf criticals & citadels [bECAUSE THIS PLAYER IS TOO STUPID TO SCORE THEM" & make BB damage consistent & DOOM-like!11!", it's getting as bad as anti-torpedo threads), so we get thread after thread of "Battleships are underpowered!!1!!!" & "There is no skill!!111!!" & "Battleships are totally RNG!!111!!". But it's an uphill battle, because some of these players are never gonna learn, never stop to ask themselves why other players can score well in identical ships to those that they fail in & WG listens to them & will nerfbat the unique features of this game ever more.
