As I have intimated, I agree wholeheartedly with the last two posts. The onus is not on the person being polite to "prove" that they are, well, being polite.

Can somebody explain what the hell has happened here?

Ah well, ninja'd. & I cannot use spoiler tags, it appears... EDIT: How odd, they're showing up now, they weren't just after I posted. -

Watch the video until the end: his hit counter doesn't go up. Those shells were not a direct hit. First image is before the DD explodes:- Second one is after the DD dies: after the kill was registered, the # of shell hits is still two:- As somebody said above, shock of near-miss HE shell probably detonated the DD's magazine. Extremely unlikely, but I've long suspected such things could happen after getting torpedo tubes & main turrets taken out by near-misses (in a Yubari, FFS). & for the record (even as a scummy DD-lover), I am perfectly okay with this. Magazine detonation needs to be in the game, or we might as well be playing Doom with a nautical theme. -
^^ This. Threads like this are more of an insight into the whiners' personal neurological state than I think I can stand. "GGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! RANDOM POLITENESS!!!111 THEY MOCK ME111!!!! COURTESY... IT BURNS!11!!!!"

Remember when everyone said it's impossible to cheat?
Khul replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Wait... Acheron has friends? -
I had to re-learn the play-style during my Mutsuki grind but now I'm up to the Hatsuharu I really miss the ickle fella... So much quicker, handier & stealthier than the Hatsu, & though the Hatsu's guns hit hard I am even missing the heavy-AA set-up & ridiculously fast-firing guns of the last Mutsuki hull. It might just be nostalgia or it might just be that the Hatsu regularly faces more damaging enemies & less of the tier four easy kills but I kinda started looking forward to playing my Mutsuki by the end, I don't really look forward to Hatsu games as I feel far less effectual. However, let me unlock the torps & the firing control on the tier 7 & I shall judge then (I remember the Mutsuki being nightmarish when stock).
-
Different hulls, surely? I know for a fact some reconstructed IRL ships had extra torpedo protection fitted, it probably represents that.

Excuse me Mr Nixon, fascinating info but... Weren't you a beta tester? Or d'you post WOWS stuff somewhere else & I'm just transposing you to here? No tag under your name, is all...

Amidst the many shining examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect, conspiracy [edited], whiny kvetching & childish narcissistic mewling that clogs this sort of thread like enormous gluey turds blocking a narrow sewer (reading it is much like every other near-identical thread like this that's ever appeared ever since the first of its ilk I'd ever seen, over in WoT), I have to say that this post, sir, is a true thing of wonder & beauty. +1 from me, & thank you.

"But we look at spreadsheets listing stats! We don't need to play (or, heaven forefend, test) the fecking thing! The rabble will do that for us!"

Run out of plus-ones, BUT SO MUCH THIS!!!! I am going to start a topic complaining about facing enemy teams with five BBs & very little cruisers, when I am in Mutsuki. "It was so unfair, I scored 100k damage without trying & they never even knew what hit them, broken MM, whine-whine-whine"...
-
Was it you in that Gremy? I saw you floating around on the 2 line & said to my team "Watch out, he's good", then you spent the rest of the time on the far side of the map (I was too busy invisi-torping your stupid BBs on the 2 line to notice what else was going on). If you'd've stayed 2 line, you probably would've won (our Fuso spent half the match parked in an island & the New Mex was just sailing around in circles. Signed, stealth torping IJN DD cap'n. X PS: FWIW I don't think your ship type (IJN stealth torper, Soviet jack-of-all-trades, US gunboat DD) is taken into account other than the class of vessel (DD/CA/BB/CV), for MM purposes. Otherwise the matchmaker would take fifteen days sometimes to come up with matches, & we'd have completely symmetrical teams, & it'd be kinda boring. I like the challenge of fighting different ships, minimising my weaknesses. But that's probably not a popular notion around here...
-
Thanks, WG, that describes exactly the cruiser I have in my port today, sitting gathering cobwebs...
-
Hello mate. Sorry for being thick but why are US 8" guns now superior to IJN ones? Better armour penetration...? & by "available", do you mean that you still have to mount it as a consumable? Or is it like the "R" function?
-
Have WG released offcial global server statistics for WOWS then, mate? Or would you be talking about numbers gleaned from a third-party website which by definition only includes a small percentage of the player-base?

Advice to new players. Don’t play battleships.
Khul replied to Stemline's topic in General Discussion
Translation: "Stemline cannot play battleships & likes to project those failings outward, where they cannot damage his/her/its fragile ego". May I recommend for any new players who may have been lured in & might be poisoned by Stemline's inadequacies:- -
As appreciative as I am for these updates, it's so very difficult not to read them ("Nikolai I performing better than some tier 5 or even 6 BBs!"/invisi-USSR torp) & scream "RUSSIAN FARKING BIAS"! Seriously. I am actually dreading the bloody USSR battleship tree now.
-
Quite so. I say again, in this game--I never played Battlestations--you aim in first person using a mouse pointer; your gun arcs are locked to the mouse pointer. How would that work please if your list is twelve degrees? They'd have fourteen million people complaining about how suddenly it was "hard to hit stuff". The only option is to have it be completely cosmetic, which, like I said, is something I would prefer not to see at all. Thanks for the personal insult, though.
-
Nope, at least, not listing, & definitely not unless it's implemented with a full damage-to-systems module & listing incurs persistent negative effects to engines/gun rotation & aiming/steering etc etc. Otherwise it's just cosmetic & would look pretty silly imo with your ship so damaged it appears to be suffering a sixteen-degree list yet you're still able to shoot point-blank at a target directly in front of you & turn on a dime whilst doing 30 knots. I can see why others might want this as a purely cosmetic effect, but I'll pass, thanks, unless they turn the whole game into a rivet-counting nerdgasm full-on simulator, which they're just not gonna do ('cos only me & about four other people would play it).

Yes, your ultra-defensive response to a bit of humorous ribbing has certainly removed the spectre of you looking like a precious whining fanboy obsessed with irrelevant details, good job. Also, it seems that you completely missed the point of my post, which is that lying--or making half-formed statements full of hyperbole & factual inaccuracies--makes you look even more like a pant-wetting wehraboo fanboy than you already managed.

Hm, and where exactly is the Atago Repair Party consumable?
Khul replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
THIS. I'm so not in favour of buffing one ship above others (of the same fricking navy!) just 'cos it's been bought by a bunch of schmucks. Only very occasionally do you see an Atago played well, & then she tends to clean up iirc. -
I believe--someone will be along to correct me I'm sure--that it is, based just on the name ("Kamikaze" backwards, innit?). Someone on NA said it was a Hallowe'en special, leaked early & now removed from the shop for a fortnight.
-
There's nothing wrong with having a whine about one's objects of self-identification being nerfed in a computer game--actually, there is, of course, but I'm assuming anyone over the age of 15 who's slept with another human will be able to point that out for you--but this is just utter hyperbole. Or, you know, you've never played an IJN DD or a Yubari, a ship I bought with my own cash. These ships suffer module damage if you sneeze at them. My record on Yubari is five engine KO's & two steering in one match. If not for "Last Stand" skill (which I only got because IJN DDs' engines blow up when the propellors start turning), I'd've been dead the second time it happened, rather than the sixth. Also, in the Yubari I've had large-calibre misses--misses, mind you, misses--KO anti-air guns & torp tubes.

Doolio, on 19 October 2015 - 02:23 AM, said: Yes. Other feudal lords told them that it was a bad idea, but they wouldn't listen. On the other hand, it might be beneficial. Peasants are already talking about rights and things. Keeping them busy with dances, hangings and games about seafaring should be able to buy them some time. I have run out of plus-ones, but this is an awesome post & the only possible response to the OP. Dropsiq, on 19 October 2015 - 07:15 AM, said: I don't do this often. Like I said, I'm being triggered instantly by this kind of topics: "noobs fault" "I can't win cause noobs", "learn the game noobs". And then, I go to see if he has a actual "right" to make this kind of statements. And when I see that someone had 150 battles in Atago, with 19k average dmg per battle, and go on forum and says "he considers himself a good team player", and he has absolutely no right to do it: very few cap points, very few base defense points, very few planes shot down - I just cringe a bit. There is a difference when someone say: hey, I find New Orleans very nice, I like that ship - and I see he has bad ersults in it - it's fine, yes, stats doesn't matter in those kinds of discussion. But if someone tries to bash "noobs" that stop him from winning, when it's a fact his contribution to win is minimal - well, you should be prepared to get some stats shoved in your face. Also a good post, kindly excuse my lack of plus-ones.

Cough...Fighting Steel...cough... Anyway, my bout of coughing over with, I will just point out that though I enjoy such things (I'm the kinda schmuck who bought SES's partially-complete & gimped out of the box Jutland, FFS), the audience for this sort of endeavour is vanishingly small. Even smaller than for an arcadey naval game, such as this one (& let's face it, WOWS is hardly setting the world alight numbers-wise).
