    The rudder shift time reduction (which I think was a very welcome change) prevents 10km+ torps from being too effective. Tight spreads at 6-7km still will inflict serious hurt, if not spotted in advance. Ambushes at lower ranges obviously increase the hurt even further. So those BBs which sail in a straight line and tunnel vision, will still suffer, which is working as intended, and hasn't been changed at all (16s rudder shift is still a lot). All in all I think 0.4.1 will be an awesome patch, the balancing stuff in general looked reasonable, IJN carriers have been dragged into a very reasonable spot, time to give the class AP bombs. While DDs suffer in random battles the most (being a support [edited]), they are one of the best picks for Ranked, which btw. is a great idea, I just think 25 ranks are way too many, even at medium levels (16-20) there probably will be ridiculous queuing times, dependant on how many people are actually interested. Having no divisions is a good thing though, also needs mods disabled imho (even if it's not possible to mod atm, the mode should disable the possibility from the start). edit: Oh and ...     Sounds as if Dogfighting Expert is now a very broken skill... which shouldn't even exist to begin with, when fighters had that rebalance to make tier progression not so ridiculous

    Hm, Strait is way too bright... the concept is nice though, maybe try the very same atmospheric effect at Dawn (=darker), Hot Spot should be changed to that alignment of ships aswell, so CVs have options where to go. Solomon Islands looks great, but I think it's a bit in the eastern team's favour (easier to defend).

    Tough one to participate. There are no proper patchnotes, there are no directions what to test, it's just about grinding... even if there is an xp boost, what's the point. Are thy expecting us to reach the new level? Or... I don't know, what's the point in doing this for 2 days? Some sort of clarification would really help. yeah ok well, XP gain is like... ridiculous .p in a good way.

    Of course you will have to do these tasks on both lines, their whole gameplay revolves around controlling different air groups. The earlier strike decks offered simple gameplay. All you had to do was to blow stuff up, you didn't deny air reconnaisance, hardly gathered intelligence on your own, ignored enemy movements, and also apparently ignored a 7.2km AA range, while said mystery-ship gets spotted at 8.2km. Yes, they'll be quite similar, but that doesn't mean they're the same, they just get brought in line so both can offer more to the team, and more importantly... to the game.

    Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining. The Cleveland as an AA platform has a huge flaw, and apart from that I even lose performance when trying to fulfill that role. How is it less diverse, when you can fulfill other tasks instead? And you're the guy coming up with ignorance?

    Oh yes ignorance... what a fine word to use, more so when I'm the guy who actually sees the problem in blowing stuff up every 2 minutes, and ruining the enjoyment of the guy on the receiving end... I even mentioned the whole game, what a great human being you are.

    Diversity? Carriers... diversity? What? You make it sound as if you click differently. Tactically you can scout for your team, p*ss off IJN stealth DDs, deal with opposing planes, or actually control your 1 group. But sending more doom brings nothing to the whole game, more so when it promotes being an egocentric tactical [edited] who ignores the own team completely.

    Also expect at least one fighter squadron in every loadout (IJN strike loadouts lose 1 TB squad and gain a Fighter squad). And more servicing time aswell, because it sounds so funny. I hope they kept their sanity for the Cleveland though, and didn't touch the AA. .x

    Atlanta>Cleveland for AA. Both can't face T10 (expect when in a fail platoon), and what makes the Atlanta superior is the concealment, it gets spotted when airplanes are 1km in doomrange. So it's perfect for ambushes, even without the ability, just always target squadrons.

    It's crap for every class if RNG isn't in their favour. .p Hot Spot is the worst case though (it sucks), I'm not expecting this to be the future, this map needs to be changed completely, but it forces carriers to do some risky crap, which isn't the case on other maps.

    tbh it feels to me more as if the devs still have no idea what CVs are supposed to be. And honestly, being the uber class which has an answer to everything (exaggerated, but compared to other classes it sort of fits), fighting at its own layer (CV being the main counter) is... unlikely. At least in the long run, for now 0.4.1 will probably help in that regard (minor rebalancing and proper MM), but I guess this is more of a bandaid fix for some damage control, people will still be upset. I'm pretty sure that they want carriers to stick to their team movement though, instead of hugging borders or islands (which most do atm "wawawawa Hot Spot is so bad because I have to l2p", I mean Hot Spot is bad... but it gives CV players a reality kick). At least if they want to deal significant amounts of damage. Higher reload times anyone? I don't know, sounds even more boring to play then. .p But making them actually have to choose if they want to play defensively and deal crap damage, or play more reckless for those high values we have now would fix a lot... at least in my eyes.

  16. That's probably the most useless topic you've created so far, and that means something... - Cruiser battles require both ammo types, with a few exceptions, like the Atlanta. It just depends on the angle and the distance what to use. - You fit 203mm guns for a long range boost. The firing arc is way easier to handle at greater distances. If you have issues in a Mogami versus an Atlanta you probably should uninstall the game. Lower calibre shells are way harder to handle at longer distances. - Fighting BBs is mostly about HE spam, cruisers are in a support role here. While many people cry about fires, they apparently ignore all the tools they have to make them an insignificant nuissance at best. Group up and bully the bully... that's how it works. BBs are a soft counter to CAs, be glad that most captains don't think that way, and just exploit their ignorance, to make them create topics about RNG - What AA nerf? - The maps are sort of boring, as their numbers are limited (and Hot Spot needs to be removed, the concept sucks and it's unoptimized as hell)... but far from being a shooting gallery, just be annoying to everything you face, that's the main reason why you should play a cruiser to begin with. Don't expect to be the boss who facerolls everything, just have a basic sense of team spirit and adapt to the situation.

    Dispersion is quite terrible on both ships, it's 278m at ~21km iirc. So WG wants the germans to be more of brawlers, I mean BBs are actually supposed to brawl in most cases anyway.

    The reason being, it's a game, it has to be balanced around something. The Tirpitz gets torpedoes, which take away a lot from the artillery budget. Apart from being a premium ship, which shouldn't faceroll the same ships on the tier (as it's not a soviet ship, like the Murmansk). Bismarck maybe gets artillery focus, time will tell, but I doubt it will be range, with that dispersion it would be useless anyway. edit: maxrange means jack in that game, that's why so many BB players suck. Take some ranged shots, but dish out the hurt at ~15km.

    The Bismarck will have hulls to upgrade. The current ship is just the stock variant. I guess it won't get torpedoes, but having more AA and a better rudder shift time are safe bets.

    So to sum this mess of a thread up. Cleveland AA range will be reduced, IJN fighters will have a chance against US fighters, some IJN decks lose offensive capability, and... some people have a small d*ck. To hell with that, this stuff gets revealed next week anyway. Except the d*ck I hope. edit: Oh and MM gets better aswell. I'm too lazy for adding a d*ck joke though.
