Weren't you too close? If you are too close to a BB, you are asking to be one salvo shot...

Exactly this. Torp detection should be tier flipped, so high tier DDs can do something, and noobs stop to cry "DDs OP, nerf!" At lower tiers.

Planes' turning radius change: the IJN fun killer
rafparis replied to Solial's topic in General Discussion
lol, exactly Maybye when germans CV will come out,,the tier X will have ufos from the movie iron sky! -
^^ exactly this... This should be the reverse, more easily spoted torps at lower tiers, and the higher the tier the stealthier they are. Because of what we have now, many noobs cry "DD op, nerf them plz!!!", when they get nuked by fast spam invisi torpedoes. Yes, at higher tiers you may have faster, longer range torps, and more of them, but enemy players got more experience at avoiding them, and with all the planes your torps get detected kilometers from where you shoot them. (I have suggested in another post to completely remove torp detection by planes. Anyway, if a plane permaspot you, at least you hab a chance at one last sneaky attack before you die).

The REAL reason of Wargaming why they "nerfed" IJN CVs
rafparis replied to XueLong's topic in General Discussion
Last_Rites, stop crying about your sealclubing gone. CV needed that nerf, and it's not as severe as DDs have, so adapt to the new meta,,play differently, sweat like the rest of us... The amount of credits earned is still very good in a CV, even with a gew torp hits.- 24 replies

Which video? The one presenting 4.1?

how do you use it? It's very slow to begin, and when you are strafing you maybye kill one plane per squad max, i found it way more efficient to attack directly by clicking. And when you begin to position to do the strafe attack, if a fighter attacks you, you are blocked and doon destroyed. And you can't even interrupt the attack once it's done, and the enemy fighters have just dodged them easily... So, is it completely useless, or do you have any luck using it? or some tips?

CV tears are sooooo delicious now you don't dominate a match even if you are average, you have the same xp/silver as any other class... Buhuhu...

well, maybye we can try to write some things that works now, without any changes? there is no guides for high tier DDs, so it would be usefull to exchange experience. I will begin, with my experience of IJN ones. Past tier 6-7 (awful DDs), you don't play ninja yolo style like in the minekaze. A game when you are killed at the begining will costs you around 100-200k in repair damages... You MUST sink at least one ship per game to not lost too much. You must be patient, don't rush early for cap points in domination, except if you have a good way of escape and the rest of the fleet is behind you. Learn to aim with your guns, because now you will have to use them more often. If you are detected by an enemy DD and the enemy fleet is near, you will die, so you must try to damage/sink the other DD, so you don't loose too much credits. Remember that XP and silver are calculated by the % of damage you have done to a ship, a DD is worth the same as a BB. Don't even bother aiming at the torpedo guide, EVERY player at this tiers change course often (except if it's a tirpitz ). So what you do is carpet torping at critical points of passage, calculating when aproximatively enemy ships will get there (a corridor, around an island, a cap point... there are some points on maps where ships go often). The best chance you have to hit is when enemy team form a big blob and is sailing in the same direction, send a carpet there. When you have launched your torps, go back near your fleet, so you are not caught with your pants down. If they are planes flying on your torp line, try to launch after they pass, because a spoted torp is always spoted. So if a CV park a plane squadron on your line, you are fucked... The best advice is this: Survive, so you don't pay the exorbitant repair costs, and if you are caught and about to die, try to make a ship go from 100% to 0% health. What's your advices for high tier DDs? (IJN and USN)

If they bring her back, sure as hell i will buy her... I love fun ships.
-
High tier DDs are high risk small reward and big punishement ships And it's not even better with kagero... I think only shimakaze will be a "good" ship. And you will only have "good" games when there is no enemy carrier. If there is one, you will be spotted, as your torps. And everyone will try to kill you, because a high tier DDs is worth in xp and silver the same as a same tier BB... So you also become an xp pinata. You wil rarely survive, and the ship costs 100k to repair...
-
just one little thing: planes do not detect torps. I think that's the worst game mechanic for high tier DDs. Once spotted, torps are always visible. With the amount of planes you have at higher tiers, you almost always have your torp lanes blocked by a plane that detects them, so it's super easy to avoid them, especially with the high detection range of torps past tier 5 (which is stupid). Heck, spotting planes could still detect it, it's the parked fighters in a torp lane that are the worst. Runing a high tier ship is extremely expensive, and high tier torps are very expensive. but made almost useless because of the plane spoting. And you must do some damage in order to break even. Even the aparently higher damage of torps at higher tiers is nullified by the fact that ships at that tier have huge HP pools (except DDs...), so without a detonation, you could land 4 torps on a cruiser and it's still floating... DDs were nerfed to oblivion, maybye it's time to buff them little by little so we can make them at least viable again? (and don't tell me the AA buff for USN DDs is a good buff... it isn't)
-
CW? the thing that is played by 10% of the server population? And the 90% of the other people have to adapt? Sorry mate, it's the other way around Public games needs to be fun and balanced, and you CW guys adapt to the meta that emerges.
-
that was one of my ideas too (don't add the 4km detect range when you fire), but it might be too much, now WG need to try little steps buffing, to make a class viable, and not have to nerf it to oblivion again.

Nope, it's just a visual effect. AA works as DPS damage inside circles. http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/13878-basics-aa-mechanics/

Again, i will compare with wots: i prefer to grind for more xp in higher tiers, at the same time gaining more credits to buy stuff and upgrades, and the next tank in line. Then i keep the lower tier tanks which are fun, but i don't have to play them continiusly to grind money, because i can earn more at higher tier 8. So i have a feeling of "progressing" through the game, and don't feel the grind so much as i feel it in wows.
-
I said that before: yes, there is a grind silver problem. In wot i have multiple line s up to tier 8, and i never have money problem. Here, it can begin at tier 7... I would prefer less silver costs and more xp to be gained in order to advance. It's more rewarding to grind money in ships that you actually grind xp, than to go back in tiers. And in wot, you earn more at tier 8 than at tier 5-6. Here, it's the opposite, due to high ammo and repair costs.
